Good service! Decent food! Lively atmosphere! Great location!
Good food and good service. Fast. Tasty dessert.
There was nothing wrong with the restaurant, but it was nothing like I read in the OT reviews. It probably has 1 of the smallest dinner menu's in Chicago and I wouldn't recommend this place if you're hungry and want to see what Chicago Dining is all about. 1 North is nothing more than a place to grab a drink and appetizer before attending the Lyric Opera across the street. DO NOT go for a "dinner date." They close at 9pm on a Saturday, thats all you need to know.
Great dinner accompanied by great wine. Ideal for pre theater dinner - fast, attentive service.
Server was efficient and delightful. Food is consistently wonderful!
One North Kitchen is perfect for dinner before an opera. The food is great, the service is excellent, the staff is friendly. The salmon preparation this time was exceptional. We love coming back again and again.
We have been dinning at One North for a long time. Many years!
There were some issues the last time and we complained about it. Staff was very efficient in dealing with those issues.
I am making a note to the restaurant to let them go through it.
We will be back to check on those improvements.
all good. convenient to opera.
Had a pre-opera dinner which we announced immediately to the server who was friendly and greeted us promptly. But she was very hard to snag when trying to order and throughout the meal. Finally, we waited a long time to get the bill paid, and it turned out she was around the corner of our table just chatting with a fellow server. We were scrambling to get to the opera on time. That was all very unnecessary. Food was average.
All in all good. Drink service was a bit slower than expected, but all in all good.
Fine place for a bite and a libation before the Opera. This is our second time eating here before the opera. I liked it more than the opera bistro experience.
Food was delicious, server was very attentive, informed, and very cheerful. A very nice experience all around.
Great food. Great service. Great ambiance. I love this place.
My favorite place to eat. Great food, great service. Never disappointed.
I am a long-time customer (work across the street), but last time I was there (1/30) the 'grilled salmon' I was served in my salad was raw inside. I mentioned something to the server - instead of preparing a new salad and/or piece of salmon, the server asked that I put my half-eaten, raw salmon on a side plate from my table for it to be cooked to further (is this even sanitary?). A couple minutes later, the re-cooked salmon came out, but again it was still raw inside and I could not eat it.
Additionally, I was asked by the staff multiple times if I "was done with my meal," despite the fact I was clearly still eating. It felt very rushed, the food was cold/under-cooked, and overall it was just a dysfunctional experience. I will likely be back, but this bad experience tainted my view of One North.
My wife and I were visiting Chicago for a concert. I found One North through a friends suggestion and found it to be great. The restaurant is in the middle of the Theater District and was easy to find. They had a great bar selection and many different food options. The service was excellent and the kitchen had our food ready super fast. They are used to people being on a schedule to make their concert or play destination on time. I will absolutely visit One North on my next trip to Chicago.
Excellent menu with fresh choices. Unique dishes by wonderful chef whom greeted us as we left. We happened to be there for restaurant week and choices were fabulous. My husband and I chose different dishes and all were very tasty and unique. I’d definitely go back to try something different. Many complaints on noise level. Sadly it was loud but wouldn’t stop us from going back.
It's a great location for pre-opera and the food is very good.
Great staff and service plus excellent food made this a perfect after-work dinner spot for a non-local.
I have dined at One North for lunch many times and always enjoy the food - especially the salads. I am always amazed at how noisey it gets, once the place fills up.
