I was in Chicago and was looking for something close to my hotel for dinner my first night there. I found One North to be a very good place for casual dining with good beer and desserts, friendly staff and very well thought out comfort food. Staff was friendly and accommodating. A good choice for casual dining.

Came here before going to a 5:30 Opera. Server and ambulance were wonderful. I had the whitefish which was outstanding. Others has salads and appetizers all amazing. The place was hoping by the time we had to leave. We will be back!

The 4 of us enjoyed our meals. From the Midwestern Cobb to the Burger of the Day to Grilled cheese and tomato soup - our meals were excellent. However, the noise traveled all around and we could not hear one another, which isn't the fault of the location, but is something to note. If you want to enjoy conversation with your dining companions, that may not be possible. Otherwise, food was very tasty and portions were quite ample.

My sister and I have been to One North Kitchen & Bar several times before the opera. The décor is stunning, the food is delicious, the wine list is interesting, and the service is friendly and efficient. However, the restaurant is noisy. That's OK because we don't linger on opera nights; but it must be a negative for business meetings or romantic dinners.

Reservation was for 2, but we were sat at a large U-shaped booth for 4-5 people. There was an awkward amount of awkward space. Service was not that attentive, took 8-10 minutes to get water.

Overpriced. $14.00 + for a small plate of indifferently chopped romaine and (count ‘em) two anchovies calling itself a Caesar Salad.

We had a fantastic dining experience at One North on Saturday evening before attending the Lyric, conveniently located across the street.

Deep beer, wine and spirits selection and varied selection of appetizers. Almost went for the BBQ shrimp and grits, but opted for the Paese flatbread instead. The flaked parmesan cheese gave it a nice kick.

My son opted for the NY Strip (mrare) which is offered on Saturday nights and I enjoyed the seared sea scallops. The scallops were fantastic - not my usual expectation for seafood in the midwest.
Very succulent and garnished with squash and apple curry butter sauce for a Fall taste. I sampled my son's steak and it was very tender and flavored well by the trimmed border of fat.

The service was excellent. Our server Rob was very patient and did not hurry us from start to finish. I was surprised when Erica from the Kitchen stopped by the table to talk about the scallops before and after our meal. And Fadi, the GM, also stopped by to make sure everything was meeting our expectations, leading to a nice chat.

Relaxed at our table with dessert and coffee until about 20 minutes before the curtain and then ambled across the street with plenty of time to get to our seats.

I think we've found our pre-opera dining spot for the coming season! Definitely returning and looking forward to sample other menu offerings.

Great food and service but very noisy even when not crowded. May be okay for younger ground enjoying the energy but we prefer quieter venues

I reached out to the restaurant before traveling to Chicago because we were going with a large group and two of us are vegan. Their website said they were friendly to all diets. The chef contacted me and made suggestions and even offered to make a special dish. We placed our orders and the food was amazing!! That special item, although not ordered, was brought to our table and everyone loved it! SOOO delicious. The chef came out to meet us. Such a great experience.

Nicely varied menu at reasonable prices. We both had the whitefish, which was delicious, as were the desserts. Attentive service. We would like to return soon. Large dining room with nice view of the opera house, and wasn't overly noisy.

I had the scallops with spaghetti squash which were exquisite. The sauce was mouthwatering. I am looking for another opportunity to go back and have this again. The service was good as always. As usual this spot is very loud. I wish they would fix the acoustics. I would come and eat the great food far more often if they did something about this.

Went for business lunch. Had the kale salad but had too much dressing on it. My lunch companion said the same for her mexican salad. Also, the salmon I added to my salad was wildly overcooked. Seems the quality has gone down a bit.

One North is our favorite pre-opera place to dine. It couldn't be handier, of course, and the staff is aware of curtain times so service is fast and efficient. We always order the fish and chips, which is really delicious. If there's time, we also order from the dessert menu, because the desserts are out of this world!
We've been happy to see that One North is successful -- it deserves to be!!

One North Kitchen is my go to place for downtown lunches either with friends or business associates. Now that I live in Indiana, I still drive in to schedule downtown lunches here. it is always reliable food and service. If I ask for a "quieter spot" in the room, I am always accommodated. I have my menu favorites and have never been disappointed either with food or service. Highly recommended.
