    Server placed soiled napkins on table for drinks. Thought we were joking when asked for clean ones. The food was okay and the overall experience. Given it’s proximity to the opera house it was convenient. But as one who dines out regularly it wasn’t extraordinary.

    Very excellent, delightful service and servers and very good food -- the chef even came to our table, in response to our inquiry about how a specific dish is made. (It was early in the evening before the dinner crowd began to arrive.) For two diners, expect about $100 before tip. If the restaurant were open until 11 or 11:30 PM, we would also dine there AFTER attending the Chicago Lyric Opera across the street.

    We made last minute reservations before a show. It was not too crowded so I was skeptical. But the food was very good, better than I anticipated. And the service was excellent. Our waiter was very helpful and perceptive. My husband was not sure if he should try one of the soups on the menu so our waiter offered to bring out a mini cup for him. I had the Autumn salad and it was one of the best I’ve eaten. My daughters’ tacos were excellent. While the menu reads fairly standard American don’t be deceived. They do a very good job of still being creative with it. Glad we tried it and we would go again as a family.

    We went with friends prior to a show at the Lyric Opera. For proximity to the Lyric Opera it's FANTASTIC. The atmosphere is good, and the menu is good though a bit pricey. They definitely cater to the downtown Theatre crowd, with their kitchen closing around 8 PM, and with informing our server that we had a show at the Lyric and a 6 PM Reservation, service got us out in perfect timing for the opening curtain of the show.

    We loved our meals at One North Kitchen & Bar. We made reservations on open table, restaurant confirmed, had our party all set to go, service was great before the theater show. Chef/owner came around checking on tables, food was fresh & wonderful, we all had many items we wanted to order... so we'll just have to go back!

    Appreciated the vegan options. I wish the server was more thoughtful in recommendations or working with the chef, but we really enjoyed the Hummus and Charred Brussel Sprouts.

    One North is a lively after-work spot on the western edge of the Loop. It has an unpretentious menu and well-executed food. I highly recommend asking for a table on the patio, which is right on Wacker Drive across from the Civic Opera house. The inside is cavernous and can get very loud. On the night we went, the "chef's whim" burrata came with canteloupe, prosciutto, arugula, and microgreens, with a balsamic drizzle. We got it to share, but two of our party of four do not eat meat, so the waitress very kindly offered to bring the prosciutto on a separate plate, which she did. I had the pork tacos, which were excellent, and at $5.95 each, quite a bargain. The tortillas were small (about 3" diameter), but each taco came with two tortillas and enough filling to make two separate tacos. So technically I got two tacos, but I made four out of them and it was filling. My friends got the fish tacos and vegetarian tacos and enjoyed them. My husband got the Greek salad. It was definitely an entree size, with a sliced chicken breast, but if you've read my other reviews, you know he has a hearty appetite, so he was a little peckish by the time we got home. (Note: on a prior visit I had the Midwestern Cobb salad for lunch; it was one of the best versions I have had, and it was so huge I had to take about a third of it home.) Wine pours are generous. Overall, One North is a great spot for a happy hour meet-up or when you just want a burger, taco, or entree salad.

    We were a party 6 and the only ones in the dining area for an early happy hour. We had been out and along the river all afternoon and the cool quietness with our drinks and appetizers was nice and relaxing after the crowds and heat along the river.

    It no where near the quality of the pre-pandemic One North Kitchen in food and decor. It has a cafeteria feel now and the food reflects that same vibe.

    Discovered this restaurant via Open Table. We were looking for a pre-theater option. Our appetizer, entrees and dessert were all very good and the service incredibly accommodating and friendly. The menu had many options that appealed to us so we'll be back.

    We got dinner following a matinee. The service was swift and meal fine for how it needs to be limited to serve efficiently. Scallops, salmon, and pasta were excellent along with the sauces; the beef was fine but wouldn’t get again.

    Dined at One North Kitchen after West Side Story performance. The menu was varied enough without being overwhelming. I had the Seared Sea Scallops, which were cooked perfectly and presented beautifully with delicious sauce and spaghetti squash. My friend had the special veggie bowl with steak added -- also delicious. Extremely glad that this venue caters to Lyric Opera attendees and hope it continues, however, I look forward to returning at other times since the food was delicious, and not badly priced for a downtown restaurant.

    Restaurant is located conveniently in a great location across the street from the Lyric Opera. Our service was outstanding and our waiter was excellent. Prices were very reasonable, our food was great. I would recommend.

    They brought service back to CHicago standards!! Service was excellent. The entire staff- front to back- were professional, friendly, warm, and efficient. What a delight! And let’s not forget the food- delish!! Highly recommend!! It’s been a rough few years for restaurants. I get it. The staff here has overcome the challenges. Great experience!

    This was my wife and my first visit to One North; we had an early dinner after a matinee performance at the Lyric. It is an extremely attractive, comfortable restaurant, and quite spacious. To state it succinctly, our experience was spectacular. The cocktail menu was very imaginative and I had one of the specialties with Chartreuse. My wife started with the special gazpacho, which was chock-full of vegetables and delicious. I had a shrimp and grits appetizer, which was terrific, with four good size shrimp, on a bed of grits. My wife had the scallops entrée and several large sweet scallops, done just to her liking! I got a little taste, and indeed it was done perfectly and delicious. My entrée was a smoked bacon risotto dish that was out of this world; completely different and completely wonderful. The wine list was limited, but reasonable and we even finished with a Canadian butter tart dessert which we shared. Our server, Matt, was great to talk to, very efficient, very helpful, and a really nice guy. We look forward to our return trip here!

    It’s been several years since I’ve been to this restaurant and was extremely pleased when I returned. The restaurant has been remodeled, post COVID and everything from the drinks to the food was spot on! We started with a lemon drop martini in the bar and then we’re seated for dinner. I highly recommend the pasta 🍝 Bolognese.

    Perfect location for before and after Lyric Opera performances! Our main server was attentive and personable. There were a couple goofs with help staff but all was corrected immediately. Food and drinks were good and we had a great time.

    As soon as we were seated, Bob, our waiter, made suggestions on how to proceed to assure we would not be rushed but have our food served in a timely manner since the Opera patrons would soon fill all of the seats. He reviewed the Specials, answered our questions, and we leisurely enjoyed a fine lunch. The foodcwas quire good. My very cold gin in a martini glass with three olives and no Vermouth was shaken as requested. Unfortunately, the bartender used crushed ice with tiny ice crystals in the shaker and a rather small glass that was not the traditional martini shape. The ice crystals were so thick that the half filled small glass was like a frozen drink, not what I ordered. The quantity in the glass was a bit lacking, the shape of the glass affected drinking pleasure, and the slushy consistency made the drink appear larger than it really was, plus it was diluted.

    Our waiter was absolutely amazing -- in fact the entire staff worked together as a team to keep water glasses full and clear off empty plates. The cocktails were creative and delicious and the Gouda Cheese puffs were superb. However, the Scallop preparation is the best that I've ever had anywhere. Highly recommend this restaurant.
