The Lyric is across the street so busyness/noise depends on what’s happening. This time was very quiet - which we love! Our third time there and we’re recognized immediately by hostess and wait staff. Wide selection on menu. Excellently stocked bar.

Our server acknowledged that we had a tight timeline (theater tickets) but then took a while to take our order. He clearly didn’t like that I didn’t order an alcoholic beverage when my friends did (“now you know who to leave at home next time”). When I ordered a cooked to order item, I asked if it would fit into our timeline and he said “if you stop talking and let me work, it will.” The food was really delicious, we’ll presented, and priced reasonably for the city. It was too bad the server’s attitude was so rude.

Good whitefish. Tasty fish and chips but too many for a pre-concert dinner - probably good to share.

If you are headed to Lyric Opera, this is the place. It's across the street! PLUS...the food is excellent (I had the whitefish this time) and the drinks are generous. Very cheerful staff.

We had dinner here after an opera matinee. The service and drinks were good (I recommend the Sazerac cocktail), and the food was passable, but the noise level was very high, both from the hard architecture and the blaring music played over speakers in the ceiling. Given the atmosphere, we would return for drinks but not dinner.

It’s a great place to go before a show and I’ve been there many times. This was the first time the food was not that great. I ordered the fish and chips which I’ve had before. This time it was not well seasoned and it wasn’t served hot. I recommend it and I’ll go back. It might have been an off night for them.

We had reservations and were seated quickly. Everyone was surprisingly attentive! The table are was nice but the commuter crowd in the bar next to us was a bit noisy . There are some glass walls but there are openings. Our appetizer , verde chicken flatbread was good and plentiful. The risotto and white fish entree’s were flavorful ,excellent and reasonably priced for downtown . The we were served promptly and our waitress was so nice and attentive. We even had the chocolate brownie with vanilla gelato, dessert which was much more flavorful than I expected. I would go again . I went there as it was recommended by lyric opera as a dining option and right across the street . Our dinner reservation was 5:15 for the 7pm performance but we could of come even at 5:45 or 6 and been good

One North Kitchen & BarResponded on November 13, 2022Hi Gerald, Thank you so much for your review! We always recommend a reservation on the early side (5pm or 5:15) before the Lyric Opera due to the fact that typically the rest of our patrons are also attending the performance. This way it gives you plenty of time to enjoy your meal and not feel rushed. We are so glad you came to see us and hope you will be back again soon! Thank you, One North

One North is a reliable place for pre-ballet and opera dinner. Their flexible menu provides enough choices for those with small or large appetites. Leave sufficient time during high demand. Reasonably priced. I’ve not had a bad meal there.

The hostess was very nice and quick to get us a nice window table. The waiter was also very nice and efficient. Food and Drinks: The food was not the best for the cost. The wine was good. The Paloma was not very good. The Caesar Salad was almost dry as well as the grilled chicken. The pasta, while it was tasty, it too was not the best. Overall//; I would say that the service, location and staff are good, the food needs to improve in quality to sustain the value.

Across the street from Lyric Opera on a rainy performance night. Very busy and noisy. The staff did their best and were very pleasant and helpful in what was obviously a stressful situation for all. though we had a reservation, they wouldn’t seat us til our whole party arrived. Finally when two of us were there, they said they’d seat us, but then they couldn’t find a table, so we had to wait some more. I think they were used to relying on their outdoor seating, which they could not use in the rain. In the future I’d resign myself to a VERY early dinner, The food was very good and the waiter great—only wish we had had more time to enjoy it. Everyone was as pleasant and helpful as they could be in a chaotic situation. Hopefully they’ll figure out a way to deal with the pre-opera crowd more efficiently.

A busy evening before an opera and the restaurant was full. Considering all the people on a schedule, the servie was excellent! And very friendly! The shrimp cocktail was extremely small (4 medium shrimp), but very expensive. The hamburger wa well priced and delicious. Drinl were good. Overall ambience a bit stark for a fine dining restaurant. At least in the dining room. The bar area was much more interesting.

We had great hopes for this restaurant, since we are frequent opera-goers and the location of 1N is perfect. But this was a disappointing experience. The food was okay, but meagre and not so carefully thought-through. I had the Salmon Nicoise salad (a favorite dish), and it barely resembled the dish. The piece of salmon was tiny, potatoes invisible, dressing barely detectable. This was a long way from a composed salad. My friend had the Chicken Paillard. A slab of chicken breast with a sauce of some sort, with a vegetable garnish. This did not reflect the menu listing except that it was chicken breast. The service and the wine were good, as was the beet bruschetta appetizer. But the prices are not cheap here for the food one gets. While the appetizers and desserts are fine, and the wine is competitively priced, the entrees are seriously lacking in both imagination and volume. Just passable.

We went there for a pre-opera dinner. The service was good however the food was very bland. We all had the harvest bowl - and we all agreed it had no taste! Soy sauce, pepper flakes improved it greatly; pickled ginger would be another great option. It is very noisy; we were at a hightop table near the bar. There is an area with regular height tables ... perhaps it's quieter there?

The table are spaced quite close to each other and everyone seemed to be shouting making it tough to talk in an indoor voice and be heard. There were surprisingly few non-meat choices. I have the Harvest bowl which was OK but lack flavor without cheese or sauce to speak of or anything that tied it together. The service people seemed overly busy and was happy to get out of there when done with our 1 course.
