When ordering cocktails, my partner chose a very dirty vodka martini, served up, and I requested an Aviation (if they were able to make it, otherwise I would get a glass of wine).

What we were served was...something...but not what we ordered. Both drinks came in highball glasses. My partner's "martini" was something sweet - sweet? - with two huge olives speared on a toothpick, floating in the glass. Mine was NOT an Aviation - it had no Violette, no color or taste (but sugar) - and both drinks were lukewarm/room temp.

We said no to both -and opted for wine out of a bottle (which could not possibly be confused with anything else but wine). Not the best way to begin Opera Night...oof.

Pre opera dinner. The food was delicious but I could have had more of it. A bit too much bacon in the risotto and pot pie was a bit too thin. Service was wonderful

Had pre-opera reservations and was able to be seated immediately. The place was packed and the staff was exceptional. On our way out we were thanked for dining with them and invited back when it wouldn’t be so crazy busy. I for one am happy to see the dining scene emerge from this past year and a half of lockdowns and mandates.

I ordered a meal with beef tenderloin medallions--8 oz. I haven't eaten that much meat in one sitting in a long time. It was cooked perfectly and I like it rare.

I let my server, Juan, know that I had a limited time and he made sure I was not rushed and was out in time for my next adventure.

Perfect.

Food was pretty good though maybe a little salty. Biggest complaint is that they refused to substitute vegetables on my dish. For this reason I won't be back.

Food was not good. The Harvest Salad, a special that day,
had soggy vegetables and the grilled shrimp I added
was chewy and undercooked.
The chairs they now utilize are hard surfaces and quite uncomfortable.
Service was fine but couldn’t overcome the above

A solid restaurant with some excellent dishes. My whitefish was excellent though a little overcooked, and everything we had was very good. Our server was very efficient and friendly, especially considering they were understaffed (as are so may places these days. The timeing eas great as we had a performance to go to and overall it was quite enjoyable.

I highly recommend the scallops! We enjoyed our meal- the pacing and atmosphere were very nice, but there were a few issues. My daughter's burger was overcooked and the dessert brownie was not warmed; the restaurant was definitely understaffed and running to try to serve the crowd. No shade here- tough times for everyone and service is suffering everywhere in the city. I would still recommend - especially before the opera or ballet.

Friendly waitstaff, good food and overall nice pre-opera experience.
We were a little put off by the hostess, who both on our arrival and our departure didn't match the friendly, helpful attitude of our server and the backwait staff - but since our interactions with her were quite short it didn't spoil the rest of the dining experience.

From the reviews and photos I thought this place was going to be a lively unique place with great food. I also got a call from the host in the morning asking me to call and confirm as they were fully booked. Bit disappointed. It’s in the base of an office building, lights were bright, about 80% empty and the food was just average. Maybe this is an after work happy hour type of place and coming from out of town I didn’t know that. Our table was for 7pm on a Friday though and there was no atmosphere at all. Definitely wouldn’t recommend but maybe we went at the wrong time

It's always a pleasure to dine in a restaurant that not only serves delicious meals, but values each customer and treats them as a guest! The newly remodeled restaurant is lovely and the noise level is much lower than many other restaurants in the area. I count this as my number one place to dine in the city. One North also provides and excellent service for parties and special occasions. Great location, across from Lyric Opera with easy access by train. Overall, a fabulous restaurant.
Give them a try, you'll be glad you did!

Our server was lovely. However, the food needs work. Lettuce was brown in the salad and my chicken pot pie deconstructed had at least a cut of cream with ingredients floating around.

The service at the front desk was a bit dismissive and rude. The restaurant does not allow you to sit until your full party is present even if there are only two of you which is a bit inconvenient considering that the front area is small. However, I was impressed once I finally received seating. My waitress was amazing. The ambiance was also pretty great but a bit noisy at times. The food was impressive and I enjoyed the wine selection.

They advertise free parking if you spend $45. However when we left we and many others were charged the full $16. There was no one in the garage to ask about this so everyone just had to pay. Also the server was working very hard but they were very understaffed so service was slow. Food was good but not great. We didn’t get some items but they were still on the bill. The staff did correct this

Overall very nice experience for pre-opera dining. The food was very good and the service was prompt without feeling rushed. This is an excellent option for those heading to the Civic Opera House and also general dining. Also, very nice outdoor seating. Be careful with the parking at One South Wacker. The restaurant gave us a voucher for free parking since our bill met the minimum requirement. After the opera we tried using the voucher to exit the parking lot and it did not work. I had to use my credit card. Will be reaching out to the restaurant to get this resolved.

It was a great evening before the Opera; the weather was beautiful and since there were 8 of us, they set up a table on the patio in front. The food was great; the wait staff was very attentive. We were able to have a leisurely dinner and have time to visit because we started early.

Good place for pre-opera dining: efficient service, good food at reasonable prices (for the location), and right across the street from the Civic Opera House.
