One Midtown Kitchen Ratings and Reviews
Really fantastic evening. We’ve had this place on our “list” for a while and finally made it in. Love the decor, quiet and cozy without feeling empty. Hank at the bar was super cool and mixed up fantastic cocktails, and service by Ella at the table was precisely attentive and the meal was paced perfectly. Food was out of this word. Gnocchi is worth the trip by itself. Scallops were fantastic. Top notch meal all the way around. A new favorite!
We ordered three apps and after the delicious truffle fries, our entrees came out. We wanted to try the apps so asked to send them out anyway. I wish we hadn’t because aside from ruining the dining experience, the calamari was oily and the grilled octopus was salty and wasn’t very good. Both were half eaten if that. The scallops my friend ordered were delicious. But my fried trout was over battered and the center had uncooked batter which was soggy and oily. And the grits was just too buttery/creamy so was left untouched. Place itself was very nice. But with all the available options I would not return. Cocktails were nice.
The food was amazing, traditional dishes with a spin. The calamari with the indian spices was delicious and the gnocchi with lamb and mushrooms - yum, good comfort food for a cold winter night. The only drawback that evening was our server. He was pushy and over attentive in a negative way. We were trying to relax and catch up and he would not leave us alone to order and kept hovering over pouring water. I know it sounds picky but his manner was very abrupt and all of us were put off by him. We enjoyed the meal, but he did take away from the experience.
We celebrated New Year's Eve with a late dinner at One Midtown Kitchen. We arrived about an hour early and sat in the bar for a cocktail - and were surprised and delighted to be seated shortly after our drinks arrived. We ordered the baby beets with cashew butter and goat cheese, wood roasted mushrooms with ricotta, and the calamari with the tikka masala sauce to start. The small plates portions were really large, and we could have done with 2 instead of 3. All three were winners; the roasted mushrooms were really rich, and the calamari was nice and crispy, and the sauce a yummy complement. For mains we ordered Arctic Char, which was the best of the main dishes we ordered - perfectly cooked with crispy skin. That night's Parisian Gnocchi had duck confit in it, and it all would have been tasty except for a pervasive flavor of liver which wasn't a listed ingredient and I didn't care for. We had to pass on dessert because the plates were so filling. Vegetarian options were limited to a couple of the sides, and I would have liked to see a veg option as a main. Since it was NYE there were no substitutions, and we couldn't ask to have things held out. The house was full, but kudos to the restaurant staff - all seemed to be keeping their cool. Generally, the food is good, the atmosphere enjoyable, the staff knowledgeable.
My fiancé proposed to me on christmas (eek), so we made a last minuet decision to celebrate our engagement and ring in 2018 at One Midtown Kitchen. I'm very glad we did!! This is one of my favorite restaurants in Atlanta. Not only is the food exciting and waitstaff on point, but the ambiance is perfect for a romantic date night or just enjoying a quite evening in a modern/cool space. Thanks for taking care of us, ONE!!
Went here for New Years Eve - they had a special menu with many small plates options and a handful of entree options. We had a several cocktails - all very good (the bar was rocking that night). Our favorite dish of the night was the pork belly with grits... it was juicy and savory. Perfect really. We also ordered beets with goat cheese, truffle fries, and calamari with masala... I would say those were about average. They had a lobster bisque on special that evening with lobster hush puppies; it was our least favorite dish of the night - it fell short on flavor and needed acid or something to brighten it up (tasted a little "muddy" as did the paddlefish caviar on top). For desert we had a fried apple pie with ice cream that was very good.
Overall the food was average. The atmosphere is great - really cool looking place with a young, energetic vibe. We were greeted and immediately sat upon arriving. The service was a little slow, however since it was New Years Eve, I think that is no fault of the kitchen or servers. Everyone there was sincere and hustled the whole night. We'd definitely try the place again, but it would be more for the experience than the food.
We came here to celebrate our engagement and I wanted to have my fiance's parents waiting here to surprise her. Bob and the staff did a fantastic job of selecting the perfect table and then acting when we arrived and she didn't see her parents until we were 2 feet in front of the table, what a great moment! James was our server and knew the occasion so he gave us plenty of time to visit and his timing was perfect when it was time to make entree recommendations and put in our orders. Food was executed perfectly, Scallops, Filet, Gnocchi and the hit of the night was the smoked Pork Short rib. The chef came out and spoke with us after the meal and the entire experience was beyond our expectations.
This place is consistently great. The restaurant was beautifully decorated and the atmosphere was warm and festive on Christmas Eve. The food was very good as always, although the octopus was a bit hard and chewy. I’ve had octopus in many restaurants and this was one of the more disappointing ones. The maple crème brûlée is more like a flan with a crispy top but it was very good!
Particularly recommend the chicken as a main course. So many flavors in one bite and cooked to perfection. Loved our meal and experience, we will be back.
Excellent food, service and atmosphere! My husband and I went for dinner to celebrate our first night out since we had a baby (6 months ago)! The host and server knew it was a special night for us (read our Open Table notes) and gave us a nice table and lovely service.
The food was very good! Unique recipes and mixes of flavors that were very tasty and hearty! I recommend the octopus and the lamb meatball appetizers - both shareable. The menu changes frequently so we will definitely try the restaurant again to experience new entrees.
The food and ambiance are excellent. Service was attentive. The opportunity for improvement is with valet parking. There was a backlog with only one attendant. Also, I was a little disappointed to find that the remainder of my brownie that I took home was packed with the ice cream and it was too soggy to eat.
Went to Brunch with Santa. The buffet was very sparse and did not include any protein options for non-pork eaters. The biggest down side is that I was also unable to order anything off of the regular menu, so there was no alternative option to the buffet and paying for the buffet was required. My son had a great time because Santa was there, but I wound up going to a different restaurant after to actually eat.
Went to ONE on a rather special date the day following Thanksgiving and had an excellent time. We had reservations, were seated immediately, and our server was remarkably helpful and friendly, without lingering or being intrusive (his name escapes me, unfortunately).
ONE's three greatest attributes are its location (in a great neighborhood for going out afterward), the aforementioned service, and the dining environment.
There were plenty of tables full of big groups while we were there, but I never felt the need to raise my voice, nor did I need our waiter to repeat anything. The interior of the restaurant is whimsical, but not too playful or casual. The lighting is such that I could read the menus fine, but not as though you're sitting in a terrarium.
I recommend going in on a Friday evening for their somewhat poorly named "Hook Up Special," which includes something like two glasses of wine, a shared appetizer, a shared entree, and shared dessert for $35. We skipped the glasses and got a bottle and our meal came out to around $80 with tips.
The food is well-prepared, smart, and timely, though I wouldn't necessarily recommend the Flat-Iron steak. I felt the chimmichurri lacked the garlicky/vinegar punch it should carry (the meat was cooked perfectly, though).
Certainly a place I'll revisit in the future to try cocktails and more entree options.
