One Midtown Kitchen Ratings and Reviews
The atmosphere is lively but loud. Trendy decor and nice lighting. Menu is not memorable and drinks are small. Octopus was under cooked and not appetizing. We sent it back but they still charged us. When asked to take it off the bill, they did but added another entree which was supposed to be covered by a coupon. The coupon was a nice gesture but very sleezy that they overcharged us. Needless to say, we won't be back.
Did not live up to past experiences. They had run out of my first choice and the choice that was recommended to me (scallops) was lackluster. The aloe drink was pretty disgusting and "globby." The gnocchi was good, but a better side dish than full meal. The duck was good, the filet was too small and undercooked.
We went to One Midtown Kitchen for a milestone birthday in our group of four people. I have been going to OMK for years and the food and atmosphere remains good. However, our service was so bad that overshadowed our celebration. The waiter could not answer the most basic questions about the menu; we had to ask 3 times to have glasses so we could drink our wine (which took the first half hour of our visit without a drink); we even had to ask him to open the bottle!; we went for extended periods of time without water; he checked on us so infrequently that we felt compelled to order things not knowing when we would see him again. If it were a busy night, I could understand some of the problems. However, it was less than half full. It threw a highly anticipated gathering into an awkward evening. As much as I have always liked OMK, I think I am done.
It was our 2yr anniversary and we had the most wonderful time! Ella, our wonderful server, started us off with complimtary champagne. Chef Candler sent out some special dishes (gluten free for me) that were delicious beyond description. Everything was perfectly cooked, perfectly seasoned and the special bananas foster ice cream was the perfect ending! Also I love that not only did they more than one port wine, but Ella recommended the perfect one! We can’t wait to come back!
I took my wife here for a birthday dinner. The appetizers we got were outstanding. Calamari, with an intriguing and unique sauce, and, believe it or not, the most amazing hushpuppies I think I've ever had in my life. We also got the beets which were not very impressive.
I ordered their hamburger which was great, the fries were good that came with it but a little pedestrian and far too many of them. The pizza was too salty and just quite plain really.
My wife ordered a cocktail and it was delicious and unique, It had some sort of rose syrup. I got a beer and am pleased that they had quite a selection on tap.
ONE midtown kitchen was so beautiful 15 years ago that we got married there in 2003. And, have celebrated our anniversaries since, always at our special table. It is still as beautiful as the first time I was there and the staff is so welcoming; regardless of a special occasion or an everyday dinner. I highly recommend, especially the octopus. Enjoy!
Was very nice location, great service and the food was quite good. I had the duck and it was delicious. My partner was not so lucky as they were out of the one vegetarian main course offered on the menu. Expected more vegetarian options from an establishment that markets itself as upscale.
The food used to be a lot better. Mussels were overcooked. Lamb meatballs tasted like a bowl of sugar. So sweet we couldn't eat them. The "signature" martini tasted like simple syrup. What's up with the sugar fetish? Service was great. Very friendly staff. Great space. Love the ambiance.
Bob the Maître D' has worked at OneMidtown for at least 8 years and he will ensure that every single detail is perfect for you. We have an annual gathering that he has handled for impeccably every year. The food is wonderful, the wine is always being refreshed and the cocktails are delightful. You won't be disappointed.
Server appeared to be under the influence. She spilled water all over the table. She was not knowledgeable of the drink menu as well as the food menu. The drinks were poorly made. The entrees were mediocre. To top it all off, there were only 4 people in our party and we were automatically charged a 20% gratuity (unheard of) for horrible service and average food! I will never go back or recommend to anyone, even if it was free!
Excellent and thoughtful creative plates that satisfy. We opted for small plates vs a full meal with some wine and it was quite a meal. It was a preconcert celebration and our server took care of us nicely during our celebration. I will go back to try the rest of the menu. It is very interesting and inventive. Great experience.
Great overall experience. Bob took very good care of us - made it a very personalized and special-feeling evening. The atmosphere is great - elegantly casual and cool. In the flurry of hot new restaurants constantly opening in Atlanta, it's sometime hard to remember that OMK was one of the first in that vein, and it's maintained its status as a place worthy of return visits.
From the moment I spoke to Bob regarding the reservation to when we laughed so hard with Shirley our server (who remembered my drink order from a previous visit!) to the friendly valet, out visit to One Midtown Kitchen was outstanding. I love this restaurant. The food is an epicurean adventure - the indian style calamari (tika masala) is outstanding.
Food was exceptional, ambience always a treat, and food was very good, with high marks from 3 dinner guests who had the Grilled Trout. My Gnocchi Francaise was broiled on top to excellent crispness in creative and tasty take on Italian favorite. Only discordant note was that our Server was young, and seemed rushed to get us to order drinks, appetizers and main courses, but we were not in a hurry, and restaurant half empty. Relax, it is fine dining!
This was my first time at One and it was an amazing experience. From the minute I was greeted at the door to until the very end. Waiters were very attentive and warm welcoming. The environment itself was breath taking. Definitely set the mood for a very relaxed late dinner. The menu had a bit of everything to choose from and the wine selection was very enticing. Will recommend this place to my friends for sure
