One Market Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
We eat out every year for Thanksgiving Dinner and our entire party agreed that this was the best Thanksgiving dinner ever. We were fortunate enough to get the last Open Table Reservation at 8:30. I booked the reservation a month ago after a friend that is in the restaurant business recommended One Market as the best restaurant in town. Having very high expectations being in the restaurant business myself One Market exceeded my expectations at every aspect of the dining experience. From the hostess kindly explaining our window table request was being fulfilled as soon as the previous party paid they’re check and she also updated us letting us it was being reset.
The entire meal was superb from the Duck Pate Amuse Bouche to the Pear salad an Pumpkin Agnolotti to the very moist turkey and perfectly seasoned velvety smooth gravy and superbly seasoned and moist Corn bread stuffing!! Every bite was amazing!!
Finally the desserts were out of this world!! The pumpkin cheesecake was light and smooth and the Apple Tart was perfect cooked with apples that were firm and tart not overly cooked as so often they tend to be in tarts and pies. And tart crust was perfectly flakey and light.
The service was also amazing!! Very friendly and non intrusive. Our waiter was soft spoken and friendly, did not rush us and made us feel at home. Our bus boy was equally as wonderful, very skilled and kind! Never rushed us and was trained in the art of full clearing the table and he used a crumber to remove all crumbs and food from our table cloth, a lost art that I rarely see anymore.
Thank you One Market for a wonderful Thanksgiving!! I will recommend your restaurant to everyone I talk to!!
DE-LIGHT-FUL! I actually went because I had read about the gingerbread cakes they have as a dessert and which benefit the "Make a Wish Foundation". I wanted to get some of those to give as gifts. Rather than just picking up cakes, I had THE BEST LUNCH, too. The "Market Lunch" (salad and fish) was easily the best lunch I've had in ages; every detail done perfectly. And all the staff are so kind and professional - what a nice atmosphere. It has just become my #1 favorite SF restaurant! And the gingerbread cakes are GREAT!
The food at One Market is always reliably excellent, imaginative and tasty. I had a mussel and smoked tomato soup that was poured over chunks of veggies and herbs that gave it a variety of intense flavors that cannot be accurately described but every spoonful was fabulous. My main course was a flatiron steak, beautifully cooked rare and served with perfect mashed potatoes. It was seasoned and crusty and served sliced to deal with the natural chewiness of the cut. My wife had an excellent mixed salad and a grilled trout with broccolini. We split a pear galette for dessert to complete a truly excellent lunch. Our waiter was knowledgeable and attentive as was the whole service staff.
Our server was fine except for his timing. Our entrees were brought when we were maybe two-thirds through our salads. I waved them off, hoping to god those same dishes wouldn't be the ones coming back to us when we were ready. But that's exactly what happened. The bit of salad on my plate was badly wilted, and my crab cakes were dry.
Speaking of those crab cakes, on the menu they are "crab cakes," parenthetical, we were told by our server, because they don't use the usual binders. They use a scallop mousse. This was to be an improvement. As a matter of fact, it was not. There was nothing about the cooking that improved on a pile of fresh crab meat.
The appetizer salad was quite nice.
Great location and nice views. A lot of natural light to enjoy good food. I ordered a $25 menu and fig salad was very basic but tasty. Shrimp risotto really good. Nice business atmosphere. Service just ok. I found disappointing to arrive 10 minutes earlier and to be parked on a side when tables were ready. They did not even offered to enjoy a drink at the bar in the meantime. I can't understand we had to wait in such an unfriendly way.
Perfect experience. Started by meeting a friend for cocktails in the bar. Wonderful artisan cocktails, my Hendricks & tonic with the celery bitters fantastic. Then my husband and I continued over for dinner. Service is so attentive, but not smothering. Half price wine night, our server recommended a Howell at the Moon cab, out of this world. As for mains, the 8 oz filet mignon was cooked to perfection. And don't miss the potato tots. Dessert was a chocolate toffee crunch cake, perfect, not overtly sweet. The pianist adds to a lovely ambience, and the overall volume of the restaurant allows you to have a normal conversation. One Market continues to be one of the premier dining experiences in the City.
Great views of the City Ferry Building, people passing on the sidewalks, traffic. Yet it was so quiet and relaxed indoors, inside the restaurant with lovely piano music coming from the bar.
Great atmosphere! One of the best, most creative gin and tonics I've ever had.
This place was a quiet, relaxing experience! Loved it!
I used to really love this restaurant but this time I was disappointed. There was a private event going on at the front of the restaurant and somehow everybody seemed rushed. We ordered the charcuterie plate as a starter and there were a few slices of prosciutto and a little "deconstructed" melon, that's it. I ordered the rabbit loin and it had a lot of chewy fatty stuff around it and my friend had the halibut which was pretty dry. Anyway, next time I am in San Francisco, I will go to a different restaurant.
