Excellent and thoughtful service and very good food. We were thoroughly pleased.
I ordered crab cakes as an entree. I had a choice of 3 or 5. I chose 3, based on experience in other restaurants where 3 was enough. Each crab cake was the size of a fingertip. In essence, the item should have been on the appetizer list. Plus they were tasteless. My two companions ordered cobb salad. They told me that the salad was edible, but not outstanding. Neither finished the dish.
There was 3 of us and 2 order prime rib, the other risotto. After waiting over 1 hr and half the meal served was cool, not even warm. Risotto fine. The server offered to heat it or prepare another. We were so tired, waited so long, just disappointed and wanted to leave. The mgr brought us new dishes, did not apologize, offered it for free. Most importantly, i was so disappointment since I recommended this place. Reservations were 7:30, served by 9. We left without eating. Totally disappointing!
Highlight of the meal was Spanish octopus starter - beautiful poached halibut was overwhelmed by a very strong balsamic sauce; potato tots were huge and we never saw homemade ketchup. Large serving of prime rib was mediocre at best. Scallops were likewise ok, but nothing special. Wine server lectured us about the wine we had independently ordered and with which we are quite familiar: much of her information about the winery was incorrect.
A very mediocre meal in noisy surroundings, at fairly dear prices.
I am in San Francisco for work every week and have been making it a point to try out different tasting menus / wine pairings. Of the 7 places I've been so far, I enjoyed this one the best (and less expensive than all the others). The food was top-notch: the amuses bouches, kampachi, octopus, foie gras, scallops, and duck alike. Furthermore, it may have been the best wine pairing I've ever had. The sommelier, Tonya, is extremely knowledgeable, personable, and made it a truly remarkable experience. I will certainly be going back again and highly recommend this place!
One Market is our go to place when we go to SF. The food is consistently good and the service is excellent.
The chef at our lunch used cilantro that overpowered the delicate flavour of the acorn squash soup... The crab in the crab cakes tasted spoiled... Altogether bad food.
It is our good to restaurant for special times. The food and service are always first rate. Every part of the meal was excellent.
For the money you spend , service should match. Food was great, sommelier very friendly and informative. If I were to choose to spend money for a special occasion in this neighborhood the restaurant I would choose is "Boulevard ". Just not what we expected.
The reception was very welcoming and helpful, seating us in a banquette and close to the music.
The food and music were very good.
Second time for Thanksgiving dinner. They hit it out of the park again !
We feel that One Market had over extended themselves on their reservations. My husband we arrived at 6:05pm and were told that we would be seated on time. We finally got seated close to 7:00pm. Needless to say; I was very hungry at that point! Also; my husband & I have an issue in respect to how they handle their "gratuity".
I do mind paying for great service why should customers be encouraged to pay gratuity on "Sales tax & Employee Health Mandate" as well?
Our server had "suggested greater than a 20percent gratuity on the "whole bill" rather then on food she was very poor in calculating her figures. The total amount did not add up right!
We went to One Market for Thanksgiving Dinner and the experience was wonderful. This is not an easy holiday to serve, and the quality of the food, atmosphere and service was terrific. Our family is grateful to have such a thoughtful restaurant in our beloved SF!
Food was good but at these prices, I expect great. Service was inconsistent.
We celebrated our first "just us" Thanksgiving at One Market. What a treat - traditional turkey, etc. but also several other delicious options. The food was wonderful and considering that it was a crowded holiday dinner, the service was very good and the noise level low enough that we could hear each other. Fun evening well spent!
Dessert was very good. Scallops were too salty, but pork loin was nicely done. The restaurant is pretty noisy. If you are looking for romantic and subdued it is not quite that...but the decor is mlm pretty in a modernist kind of way.
Fantastic food, amazing chef. Terrible service, waited for more than half hour with empty glasses in between courses. The only thing was quickly served: the receipt. As bonus: the receipt had 22% tip printed and calculated in the total, no option to pick the tip amount.
My brother and I celebrated Thanksgiving at One Market and were impressed with the excellent friendly service as well as with the delicious food. The first course of pumpkin agnolotti was wonderful. The pasta was al dente and the filling was creamy and flavorful. The main course of day boat scallops were complimented by the spaghetti squash and the shiitake mushrooms. The desserts were also perfect. We will definitely go back there!
Although it was a busy Thanksgiving Day, we were seated immediately. Service was impeccable--efficient and friendly. Meal choices were varied enough to suit everyone in the party. Even though it was busy, we were not rushed to finish our meal.
Great Thanksgiving meal. We were given a large table for four and we enjoyed sitting together overlooking the crowd. The restaurant was easy to get to from the East Bay and the valet parking was right there. Overall a great day in an Francisco.
My husband and I dined at one market for thanksgiving. Service and food were really good. The check for the dinner tab had completely uncalled for “reminder” from the server that her tip wasn’t included. I really don’t need to be asked to tip at a fancy restaurant now, do I? I hope management read this review and trains servers to not be so money grubbing.
Unfortunately, the food has gone downhill and the service was not satisfactory.
The Pork Tenderloin that I had was exceptional. The glass of Bordeaux blend that I wanted with the main course was almost as expensive as the main course---overpriced at $28, and so I passed. It suspect that it would have been a perfect combination, and next time I will probably order it.
The service was borderline. The sides that my guest ordered did not arrive with the main course. We had to tell the waiter when he finally came by.
I admire and enjoy the piano playing of Billy Philadelphia. Crucially important for me. He defines the place for me, as does the sommelier. Nothing enchanting or cutting edge about One Market, but it is warm and convivial and I know that my wife and I will return, as we have for many years.
Great place for lunch. We'll be back. Offerings were unusual and tasty. We had an appointment and couldn't linger but we would recommend visiting One Market .
Food was average at best. Given prices, the food should be better, it didn’t match the ambiance or pricing.
Excellent location and menu for a business meal. Wine list is comprehensive and menu features food for all discerning appetites.
NEVER disappoints! I love this restaurant. For starters, the staff are top notch. You can't find better. And the food is always creative, fresh, and scrumptious. One of my favs in SF.
Large and good for business dinners. The food is also delicious!
Simply THE BEST! Outstanding food, Superior Service, Friendly staff, Great music & atmosphere. You just can't go wrong at One Market. Highly recommend!
Be prepared for a little sticker shock -unless this is a business lunch or dinner
Very few mid priced wines on the list although our helpful waiter steered us to something in the budget
The woman greeter at the front desk was far from friendly-not hostile but not welcoming -what was that all about?
Restaurant itself is lovely although quite large-good for groups
Food was quite good and service was excellent.
Great business lunch. The food has gotten better and better over the years, too!
Great restaurant for business meetings, conveniently located near Embarcadero Muni and BART stations.
We went as a family with a 5-year old boy to have their Downtown Social dinner. The food was fantastic, and the service very accommodating. Our son loved his burger, and fries, we turned the greens from his burger into a separate salad, which they thought would work out, and brought dressing and an extra plate for us. The food for the adults was wonderful. Flavorful, but delicately hot smoked salmon, and the sauerbraten was rich, unctuous, and very nummy.
Lovely decor. Superb food. Wonderful service. Varied menu.
I have had two meals at One Market now. A farewell business lunch for a valued colleague and an anniversary celebration. In both cases my companions and I felt we were in the perfect place. A gem hiding in plain sight.
One Market continues to deliver a great dining experience. Menu is creative and beautifully presented. Service is attentive with experienced staff that knows the menu and make recommendations.
I highly recommend it for a business lunch and for a great happy hour!
Ignored, bland food, waitress who seemed like she hated life, and an hour to get our food. Run away!
Piano player, Billy Philadelphia was fabulous and Gabe our server was on point. Food I found mediocre.
