Ignored, bland food, waitress who seemed like she hated life, and an hour to get our food. Run away!
Service was nice but sparse. Maybe because I was only one person he was inattentive and failed to check on the table about how things were, whether I wanted another drink, etc.
We were so excited to be able to get a last minute reservation for 7 of us on a Thursday night. Unfortunately, our experience did not live up to our expectations. The service was sub-par making the overall dinner disappointing. The servers seemed understaffed, overworked and not attentive. We waited a long time... I was with several vegetarians and they were not happy with their choices. The Salmon was good and the side veggies were also very nicely prepared. I hope they can improve and get their mojo back.
The service at One Market is consistently excellent. The servers take their jobs very seriously and treated me as if I was a diplomat or a celebrity. They always offer apps, special of the day, various drinks combinations, and always ask about your desert preferences. They are extremely personable and articulate. Unfortunately, the prices at One Market are inflated to the point that a simple sandwich, non-alcoholic beverage, one apptizer, and a desert costs $50.00. It is more of a chic-elite restaurant than an every day enjoyment. The food is delicious but can be found in any “normal” restaurant. You are definitely paying for the location.
I will return occasionally because it is so convenient and the deserts are amazing! Go for a special event or to impress someone. But be prepared to spend over $200. for 2 people should you order alcohol with your main course.
Always great food. Our waiter made the visit a great experience.
My favorite restaurant in San Francisco. Food was wonderful and the service perfect. Our waiter was so attentive and nice. We had a wonderful evening and a rich dessert. Please eat here if you are in San Francisco.
Had the brisket, wonderful. Tender, moist, but half was fat. Mentioned it to the waiter, and he brought a PIECE of meat with no fat. Friend had cobb salad, delish! Lovely setting, good service. Just disappointed to see such a lovely serving with half the meat fat slabs.
Food was quite nice, but it was very noisy and difficult to converse without having to yell and lean in...
Great service and great food
Half price wine on Friday and saturday
We had three different meals and an appetizer. Everything came out very good and in a timely manner. The waiter was also very knowledgeable and helpful with the menu.
Acorn Squash soup (spicy) and lobster mushroom risotto were amazing. Service was professional, and personal. We love this restaurant!
Both the hostess & waiter were outstanding. The hostess was very kind and patient as we ordered cocktails and settled our tab at the bar. The waiter was knowledgeable about the wine bottles we were considering.
When we first arrived, there was no valet. The valet stand was empty. We waited for about ten minutes and when no one came we then proceeded to the restaurant. They took my keys, said where I left my car was fine and sat us. Later, the manager, I presume, came to our table annoyed and said “just for future reference next time you can’t leave your car there because that’s where the F line comes” and then he walked away, before we could even respond to him. To come tell me in a sassy manner and not give me a solution to where I should have left my car because there valet was not there was very silly and unprofessional for a “fine dining” restaurant. This started our night on a bad/ very frustrating note. Our waiter and the food was good so it turned around. However, I don’t think it’s worth the effort to go back and to be lectured again. There’s plenty of other restaurants in SF grateful to have customers.
We found this wonderful place while on a tour of San Francisco. We are from Boston and it was a wonderful way to enjoy a beautiful night out on our mini vacation. The restaurant was very busy (always a good sign) but noise level moderate and service great. Our waitress Micky was fantastic and helpful with both suggestions for dining as well as visiting in SF. Both our meals were incredible. A perfect end for a wonderful trip.
Overrated and over priced. Perhaps once very good. Now just ok.
Waiter was outstanding; food excellent; too noisy and will not return for that reason. I don’t understand why this restaurant seats parties of 10 or more between tables accommodating twos and fours—-makes no sense except to maximize guest numbers. They’ve done this for years so it must not dent their partronage.
Disappointing. The food wasn't anything special, the oysters were spoiled and the service was subpar. Won't recommend or return.
Always amazing! Consistently delicious and interesting. Service is exemplary.
excellent tombo tuna on a bed or quinoa and marinated cucumbers. Delicious combination.
Very overpriced dinner- $400 for 3 people. Food good not great. Waiter had to be called over several times & was underwhelming, could try smiling. Every other experience was great- not tonight.
The ambience is fantastic here for a wonderful dining experience. You can sit in the lively, noisier bar area or select a calm, quieter dining room booth. Perfect!
Tanya is there to help you pair wines, and she’s was spot on with her knowledge and talent.
I’ve been here a few times, and have noticed some inconsistency in food preparation. It’s all delicious, just seems to turn out differently from time to time.
We’ll be back to One Market for sure!
Great staff, great food. Pleasant environment. Would recommend to friends and family and will most assuredly reserve again.
The best thing about One Market are the little extras, the best being a tiny cup of vichyssoise, one of my favorites! We really appreciated the waiter suggesting that we share a steak, which was almost as good as the creme brûlée. No real complaints, but nothing really exceptional, either. A good place for business dinners, but there are lots more romantic places in San Francisco.
Loved everything from the martini's to the main course. Three of us had scallops & they were excellent, and the roasted corn polenta put it over the top. Loved it. Our waiter was great & recommended a Rhone blend wine that was perfect with our meal. Everything was outstanding.
I used to love this restaurant and so I brought family visiting from out of town and I was very disappointed. The food was not good - chicken was tough, scallops were paired with ingredients that did not work. We never got 2 of the appetizers that we ordered. We started with cocktails and told the waiter we wanted wine by the glass with dinner - he brought the wine list but never came back to take our wince order until we were finished with out entrees. All in all very disappointing experince.
Great food, service, and ambiance. Will be back!
My friends and I enjoyed our dinner at One Market. The service was excellent and the food very good. We also appreciated that the restaurant was near the Bart station for our trip home. I will definitely recommend the restaurant.
Delicious food and consistently a great lunch spot
Great location! Not inventive or adventurous food, just consistently good food with good service, comfortable seating, good for conversation.
Outstanding food and service. Did not disappoint us. Highly recommended. Will definitely come back.
Reception and server were Both Super attentive @ the “birthday” marker I put in the reservation, which was wonderful because I had a very reluctant “don’t make a big deal out of it” birthday person. He was rejecting desert but Server gently nudged enough about at if there was a cake, , which one would he prefer- that bit of extra effort turned it into a special occasion, and like everything else it was beautiful presented and delicious!
A very enjoyable business lunch! Recommend highly!
The food and service were great! We enjoyed the $5 martinis before our meal. We loved the grilled octopus appetizer and the mushroom risotto for our entrees. Both were excellent! We will definitely return for lunch
The meal was very good EXCEPT for the New York Steak. I ordered it Medium Rare, it arrived well done. They took it back and delivered it rare....and tough.
They need to do something about their grill if they want to maintain the level of quality among all of their dishes.
We chose the chef’s tasting menu w/wine pairings everything was exceptional including the service. The waitstaff was knowledgeable and the sommelier was top notch. We will be back when we return to SF!
It could not have been better!
It was our 43rd anniversary and they help us celebrate with a wonderful dessert
Server brought the wrong entree for my guest and he had to wait quite awhile to get the entree he ordered. Overall that made it a lengthy lunch - 80 minutes. We ordered from the business lunch menu which was a salad and entrees and there were only two choices for the salad and two for the entree thus you would expect it to be a one hour lunch.
Just as amazing as I remember it great job . Thanks for one of my best meals in San Francisco
The entire evening was just incredible. Our wonderful waiter was fantastic. As were all the staff that we dealt with and served us. The food was excellent and all in all a wonderful evening on every level.
We dined at One Market last Saturday night. It was my friend and my birthday plus an early anniversary dinner with my wife. We were warmly greeted at the door by Tonya, the restaurants sommelier plus the hostess of the night. Tonya took us to our booth and took our special bottle to decant. Gabe our water soon appeared and talked with my wife and me about his favorites on the menu.
Tonya arrived with our wine, describing the characteristics of it as she knew the winemakers. She also told us about the half priced wines that she personally selects each week for Friday and Saturday dining. Our friends arrived with a white wine but after learning about the half price selections we chose one instead of having his. I ended up with it to take home, haha.
Started with salads. I had the lightly dressed Caesar (thank you chef as that’s my preference), my wife had the delicious corn soup,my buddy had the heirloom tomato salad and his wife had the mixed greens. Oh, we also ordered the faux gras that my buddy scarfed up most of, rascal.
Three of us had Gabe’s scallops recommendation while my wife had the snapper. Three large scallops dressed with mushrooms and a delicious sauce. The snapper was moist but crispy on one side. Every dish was superb, again thanks chef.
To our surprise Tonya appeared with free desserts for us. Of course we finished all four, giving glowing praise to the deft touches on sweetness and chocolaty infusion on three and the velvety taste of the ice cream sundae with topping on the side.
Our water glasses were constantly filled without asking. The warm bread with butter was so tasty I had to slow my wife down as she was really enjoying it too much(she’s a light eater and I wanted to make sure she saved room for her entree). Next time, as we will be back, I will keep the faux gras closer to me. It was awesome!
Cheers to the One Market staff!!
