One Market Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
This was admittedly a last minute selection for a business luncheon. Having never eaten here for lunch, I was unfamiliar with the menu. Their half off bottles of wine were a bargain. But, their daily lunch special was terrible. Gluten free crabcakes. probably a good choice for those with dietary restrictions, but not as a daily special being marketed to the general population. I presumed it was a well loved recipe. But, the taste, texture, and overall consistency of it was bland and almost uneatable. Three of the four at our table ordered this meal---and all left with the same impression.
Went to early dinner, party of four folks, strictly business. I haven't been in over a year, and historically I've found the service to be fine and the food to be fine, but really as an alternative when a couple of my favorites weren't available. This time, I was truly surprised and happy with the quality of the food. We had a beet salad was was truly unique, a corn soup that was rich without being creamy and the bed of fruit/vegetable sautee under my halibut was so good...I was only wishing I hadn't eaten so much bread earlier on. I understand that they have a new chef...whatever it is they are doing now is a meaningful improvement on the food front!
And service was great.
My husband and I don't eat out a lot, but One Market is our definite "go to" special occasion restaurant. They have an "A Team" staff that delivers on all levels. The food is deliciously prepared by their Swiss chef at the helm overseeing his busy kitchen. Thanks again for the great ambiance and the piano music by Billy Philadelphia.
One Market does not disappoint. The atmosphere on a Friday night is fun with live piano music. Service is friendly but maybe stretched thin. The food is interesting. Fresh with creative combinations. It is a wonderful place to show off California style cuisine to international guests. And One Market offers an excellent affordable 3 course option on Friday and Saturday evenings.
Lunch with old friends was terrific. There were five of us and we had a nice round table in the middle of the dining room and we could actually hear each other. Food was delicious and we sampled some BBQ from their new patio pop-up. Really good! Staff is so friendly, knowledgeable and accommodating, too
We went for my birthday. The food was above average at best. The wait staff started out attentive, but then was distracted by a table of 10. I waited for 30 minutes for my bill. When I confronted the waitress, she said that "someone should have processed my bill earlier." That someone was her. Over 20 years ago I used to entertain clients here. My wife and I enjoyed the Chef's Table with friends. This meal was unremarkable and the service lacking. I don't see going back any time soon.
I worked in the building late and called down to see if they would be able to take me still for dinner. The entire experience has me already planning a return visit. My server was Jeffrey and you really can't receive better service than what was on display. This gentlemen was amazing and the Halibut he recommend was off the charts. The live piano playing was an excellent touch and the gentlemen behind the keys was extremely talented. Being a business traveler it is important to have a good meal and I am already looking forward to a return visit. One Market, you have earned a loyal customer on every visit. Cheers!!!
I would have rated our experience higher if the two of us who ordered the mushroom pasta hadn't become sick later in the evening. All the food was delicious at the time but I think that the pasta's cream sauce must have been left unrefrigerated too long.
Also, the six of us were crowded in a booth that would more comfortably have held four.
The service, however, was excellent.
We chose One Market for dinner before the theater -- yes, we had to cab it to the theater, but One Market opens at 5:30, which is a plus (we could dine at a nice pace without watching the clock). Food and service were very good, wine list can be pricey but also has great finds at fair prices. Only odd thing is that at our table for six, with bench seating, the waitstaff could not reach to the deep end of the table, so we had to pass food, water glasses, utensils, etc. Not terrible, but an odd set up.
Really enjoyed the food here. Had the prix fixe, which was very good, and the chocolate toffee cake is amazing! Very nice atmosphere and great service. It is a little loud, so not great if you want to enjoy quiet conversation. That is my only complaint, however!
Interesting mix of after-work Financial District crowd and tourists. The Kampachi Crudo and Duck Breast were amazing and we'd love to return for the Chef's Tasting sometime. Although gluten-free bread wasn't offered with the delicious olive and French rolls, the server was happy to provide them when asked. Note - it took a few minutes because they baked the gf rolls fresh when requested so ask early if you need them. The staff was reasonably attentive although clearly were juggling too many tables. Also, don't let the attitude at the hostess desk dissuade you. Everyone else was incredibly friendly. It wasn't personal as she seemed intent on scowling at every table she seated. Perhaps we just caught her on a bad night and who hasn't had one of those.
Warm, attentive service. Delicious food - even the simple children's meal. It was not your average pasta marinera! Solid wine pairing for a delicious meal. Wonderful pianist playing during dinner. They were also watchful on time to ensure you made it to your show. Highly recommend!
Our server was great - just very busy so we had to wait at times. My only complaint is that they put us at a table right next to the kitchen so there were servers constantly running by us. Food was good actually very good but the overall value was only good.
As we saw an afternoon performance of "Hamilton", we had plenty of dining options. One Market fulfilled all our needs. Veggie mushroom stroganoff was my entre, with a cauliflower side, both were prepared perfectly. My spouse had an ahi tuna appetizer and a ravioli in lemon cream sauce entre which she raved about. Cocktails are well crafted and live piano music flows throughout dining room. The crowd is boisterous, but not so loud that you can't hear normal table conversation. Service was attentive, without being overbearing. Our waiter was very knowledgeable about all foods on the menu and wine compliments. We were very pleased with our entire experience.
I've been to One Market many times, and this time was a bit of a disappointment. I ordered red snapper as an entree, and I did not care for it -- it seemed too thick and a little tough for a snapper. But my three dinner companions were all raving about their (seafood) entrees, so I probably just chose the wrong one. Service is always good there, so otherwise it was a lovely evening.
I chose One Market for a special occasion - a birthday. My friend is a vegetarian and said the soup (Chantenay Carrot Soup - sea buckthorn berry, hearts of palm and sorrell) was the best he had ever had; he also enjoyed the Spring Vegetable Risotto that was light and fresh with asparagus, peas, carrots and parmesan. His dessert plate was decorated in dark chocolate with Happy Birthday and his name along the rim and he was so impressed with it that he took a photo of the plate. His birthday candle was in a bite-sized macaroon alongside a generously luscious raspberry sorbet that was deliciously flavored and not overly sweet. The table service was excellent and dishes were cleared away so quickly that we barely noticed any dirty plates or silverware on the table. We didn't have wine as we were having a working lunch, but I look forward to a more leisurely dinner with a glass of wine to perfect the meal. Always save room for dessert at One Market!
