One Market Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
The sautéed spinach was drowned in butter which made it incredibly greasy and the stems were left on making it hard to chew. The Ahi tuna was chewy and flavorless. Everything was overpriced for the bland dishes. And I don’t mind spending the money on great food which this was not. The service clearly lacked professionalism as our plates we plopped down and positioned incorrectly. My advice is to skip this restaurant.
We could only get a 5:30 reservation, so the noise level was low; probably not bad when busy. I had the medallions of pork, which was excellent. The other 3 had the scallops, which were nothing special. The wine list is pricey and the corkage is $40?? enjoyed the experience.
HORRIBLE. New Years and I got served raw steak, an inexcusable offering from the chef who prepared it to the service person who delivered it. I ate a Braised lamb dinner, far from the NY steak I had ordered. My appetite was so put off that I did not finish my entrée and passed on dessert.
I would never return. If the service cannot be trusted on New Years, when you want to leave a positive impression, when can you trust it. I waited close to 25 + minutes to have raw meat served. Because I had to run to make my New Year's eve show, I did not have the time to personally convey my displeasure after leaving almost 1/2 the meal over.
If I return to the same hotel I stayed at, I will make a point to set the concierge desk know not to refer guests to this restaurant.
Food was delicious , ambiance was nice and quiet, and our server Jeff was very helpful and friendly. We will definitely be back. The only complaint was we were surprised that even though our party of 3 had reservations, had gotten there early and waited in the bar area, the hostess eventually led us to a table by the window right by the piano in the bar area! We had to ask her if we could have a seat in the main dining area which she obliged. It wasn’t as if the restaurant was crowded that early on a Fri night. Be sure to order the wonderful prix fixe dinner which is only offered on certain nights. In our case, it was offered that Thurs and Fri nights.
First time as a local at restaurant. Food was really outstanding. Nice touch with the piano, but the loudness of it was over the top, as we could not hold a conversation? We were out to dinner, and not a concert. Restaurant was not full, yet it took too long to get cocktails to the table.
We have enjoyed One Market for many years. Something is terribly wrong with it of late. We had Thanksgiving dinner there and the entrees were horrible. They couldn't even turn out a decent turkey dish. We were astounded so decided to give them another try for Christmas Eve. Again, shockingly awful food. The menu sounds delicious but the actual plates have really declined. Our party pretty much ordered various items and there was not one plate that would give hope that the restaurant is worth another try.
What a solid meal! Every protein was executed perfectly, from crispy skin snapper to smoky grilled octopus to succulent scallops. Accompaniments lived up every dish in unexpected ways, like "chorizo" purée, kohlrabi kraut, and caramelized apple cider. And the desserts? I don't even have words to describe just how incredible the simple sounding "Pumpkin Tart" was ... layers of complexity with flavors and textures that were pure delight.
I was in need of an amazing lunch break and One Market, as usual, did not disappoint. Attentive service, must-have chickpea fries, and gnocchi pillows that simply melted into heavenly goodness. The $5 lunch cocktails a nice bonus. And an always festive atmosphere. 100% 5-Star experience for what must be my 40th visit.
Reservation was for 6:15 and by 7 it was very difficult to talk as groups of 40 yr. olds do not seem to realize how loud they talk. Some would not need a microphone to be heard down a football stadium. As I was with a friend we did not mind that the service was very slow. I waited more than 10 minutes for a glass of wine while reading the menu and it was a long time before food arrived. At 7:30 or so a couple arrived next to us and they had their meal and gobbled it and left before we did !!! This is not an experience I want so for me the wait was acceptable. My friend ordered the mashed potatoes to go with our lamb shanks and there was not much of them for the price...and she also ordered the chick pea fries which were very heavy. I could only eat one as it was a meal in itself. Lamb shank was delicious. I used to make them often but now am a lazy gal in the kitchen!!!
Took a client to lunch. Service was almost imperceptible because it was so good. Dishes included the crab cakes, tomato soup with mussels, seared tuna salad. The chef nailed it. The flavors were everywhere, but not competing. One Market - still a significant food player after all these years!
Thoroughly enjoyed an early (5:30pm) Saturday evening dinner here. The food was excellent. We shared the beets and goat cheese appetizer - one of the best ever. We both ordered the lamb shank and the meat was flavorful and just falling off the bone. We were celebrating my friend's birthday and they decorated her dessert plate beautifully with a "happy birthday", her name and a candle. I ordered coffee with my dessert which came out strong and hot, just the way I like it! Service was stellar.
We eat out every year for Thanksgiving Dinner and our entire party agreed that this was the best Thanksgiving dinner ever. We were fortunate enough to get the last Open Table Reservation at 8:30. I booked the reservation a month ago after a friend that is in the restaurant business recommended One Market as the best restaurant in town. Having very high expectations being in the restaurant business myself One Market exceeded my expectations at every aspect of the dining experience. From the hostess kindly explaining our window table request was being fulfilled as soon as the previous party paid they’re check and she also updated us letting us it was being reset.
The entire meal was superb from the Duck Pate Amuse Bouche to the Pear salad an Pumpkin Agnolotti to the very moist turkey and perfectly seasoned velvety smooth gravy and superbly seasoned and moist Corn bread stuffing!! Every bite was amazing!!
Finally the desserts were out of this world!! The pumpkin cheesecake was light and smooth and the Apple Tart was perfect cooked with apples that were firm and tart not overly cooked as so often they tend to be in tarts and pies. And tart crust was perfectly flakey and light.
The service was also amazing!! Very friendly and non intrusive. Our waiter was soft spoken and friendly, did not rush us and made us feel at home. Our bus boy was equally as wonderful, very skilled and kind! Never rushed us and was trained in the art of full clearing the table and he used a crumber to remove all crumbs and food from our table cloth, a lost art that I rarely see anymore.
Thank you One Market for a wonderful Thanksgiving!! I will recommend your restaurant to everyone I talk to!!
DE-LIGHT-FUL! I actually went because I had read about the gingerbread cakes they have as a dessert and which benefit the "Make a Wish Foundation". I wanted to get some of those to give as gifts. Rather than just picking up cakes, I had THE BEST LUNCH, too. The "Market Lunch" (salad and fish) was easily the best lunch I've had in ages; every detail done perfectly. And all the staff are so kind and professional - what a nice atmosphere. It has just become my #1 favorite SF restaurant! And the gingerbread cakes are GREAT!
