I took my mom here as it was recommended to us. The meal was perfect, the cocktails were delightful, and the service was great. Not too pricey for a nice night out.
Incredible!!!! We were shocked at every turn! From our server Andrea who was more like a guide to amazingness! To the warm visit from their manager Drew! This is the best restaurant in Elmhurst. Thank you! We will be back!
Absolutely incredible from start to finish. A true neighborhood gem! We will be back.
My family and I went to 151 Kitchen to celebrate my birthday. The manager was standing at the hostess stand when we arrived and he made sure we received top notch service. EVERYONE that helped us that night was nice, welcoming and friendly. Our server, Kate was phenomenal. We’ll DEFINITELY be looking for her the next time we dine there! The food was OUTSTANDING! The drinks were excellent too!! I can’t wait to go back!!
Nice place to have a conversation. Good food choices.
My mom’s birthday
For an after-movie-at-the-York meal, this is a good choice. Salmon Nicoise was a variation on a French classic, nicely prepared, nicely presented. The crab sandwich packed some heat, expected in the aioli, but not so much in the pepper garnish. We lunched on New Year's Day, so maybe that was the reason, but shouldn't have been the excuse, for indifferent service: the hostess showed us to our table, but didn't look up from her I-phone when we left; our waiter did the minimum expected with an attitude that suggested we were an inconvenience; he did not check the table for condiments, nor were any offered in spite of ordering food and drink where salt, pepper and sugar would have been welcome; we were not offered the opportunity to have dessert. Other reviews of this restaurant show a wide variation in both food and service quality--our experience matched theirs.
Hello Pastora, Regardless of the day of year, we strive to provide each and every guest with a dining experience that exceeds expectation. It seems that we felt short on your visit and I apologize for that! We appreciate the feedback and have addressed your comments. We hope that you will allow us the opportunity to WOW you on your next visit. We look forward to welcoming you back. Sincerely, Kristi Blessing, Operating Owner.
We had a reservation but they were closed for a private event!
Hi Anna, I am truly sorry for the error with your NYE reservation! After looking into further, we found out that there was a glitch in the OT reservation system which allowed you to make a reservation even though we had it blocked out. Our NYE Party was open to the public. I hope that you can accept our apologies and give us another try! Sincerely, Kristi Blessing, Operating Owner
I had made a reservation several days before New Year’s Eve (for NYE) to dine around 9:00 pm. When I arrived to the restaurant there was a sign on the door stating “doors close at 8:00 pm due to private party.” I was very confused as I had been prompted to even confirm this reservation the day before. Many staff appeared to see my party outside and ignored our confusion. I will not be coming again.
Hello, thanks for your review. We had NYE Party available on OpenTable since November 1st. Normal Dinner service was from 12pm-8pm. Sorry if you were confused. Staff was busy setting up until 9pm and were instructed not to open the door until then. As much as we would like to be able to read each and every guests mind, we were unable to read your confusion. Hope you will give us a try in time. Have a good new year!
Excellent dining experience! Much better than anticipated!
Thanks for the review Steve! Hope to see you again soon! Sincerely, Kristi Blessing, Operating Owner
We had made a reservation to have an early dinner, before seeing ‘Cats’, at the York Theater, not knowing the restaurant was closing at 3:00 PM to prep for a private party beginning at 5:00 PM.
The Manager phoned us at 3:00, to tell us, that we were welcome to come in, as there was a ‘closed’ sign on the door. He met us at the door and seated us in the private room adjacent to the dining room, so that we would not be distracted during the party preparations! Amazing!
Andrea, our server and premier bartender, recommended wonderful cocktails to begin. We were not rushed in any way, and she was so attentive during our entire relaxed experience.
The Brie appetizer and luscious Tomato Bisque soup were extraordinary! Our Sea Scallop and Sea Bass entrees rivaled any we have ever tasted! It was truly a superb meal... totally unexpected!
Hospitality, service, and extraordinary food were the highlights of our evening! Kudos to the Chef!
One Fifty One is, now, our favorite dining experience in Elmhurst!
Hey Fireman Hank! Thanks for the kind words! It's always nice to hear when guests have a great dining experience! Hope to see you again soon! Sincerely, Kristi Blessing, Operating Owner
I was so surprised by this place! Delicious food, great service, many choices and salmon on the kids menu! We will be back for sure!
Never disappoints! I always stop here when I am in town.
Nice place. The ambiance was nice, the service was outstanding, and the food was terrific.
Fantastic food complimented by greatly service.
I do not recommend this restaurant for buffet brunch or a special event. The brunch spread was not that different than a continental breakfast at a budget hotel yet the price was $29/adult. The food was cold and it refreshed regularly. The brunch price did not even include coffee or soft drinks. Over priced and under whelming.
The place is so nicely decorated. It’s very hard to find a parking spot, so you need to give yourself at least 15 to 20 minutes. The menu was very poor to such restaurant; they literally have 4 items for dessert. Additionally, the plate is so small and overly priced. I wouldn’t go back after that experience.
Service was great. The quality of food didn’t match the price. Too high. I ordered crispy fries they were not crispy however they were willing to take them back
Bottomless Mimosas/Bellinis for $13 on the weekends is unbeatable :)
The service was slow. It took quite a while to get our drinks. The burger was dry even though it was ordered medium rare. The rack of lamb was two tiny lamb chops. We were disappointed.
Overall an excellent experience. I will definitely go back!
Best little find in Elmhurst- food has character and taste and the dessert cocktails are a hit.
What we ordered:
Crispy Pork Belly - 10/10 an absolute must. (we got one for an app and another one for dessert)
Brussels Sprouts - 10/10 another MUST. If you like brussels, you'll love these.
Market Fish - perfectly cooked
Southwest Grain Bowl with Salmon - AMAZING. A must and very healthy
Dessert: we got the creme brulee but what I really came for was the strawberry rhubarb cobbler (they said they no longer make it but its still on the menu - ASK FOR IT ANYWAY, maybe they'll bring it back)
PB&WHISKEY -> do yourself a favor, just order it
One of the best brunch places in DuPage County and the grits are definitely legit!
We loved our food, drinks and server, Denise. We will certainly be back. We really appreciated being able to socialize as long as we wanted without feeling pressured to leave.
I’ve been here a handful of times and they continue to disappoint. New chefs have not helped turn this place around and service continues to be incredibly slow and inattentive. Menu looks good but execution is horrible.
Hi Elmhurst41, Sorry to hear you don't enjoy your times with us. Rest assured, things have improved and we are getting rave reviews. Hope you can try us again soon. Thanks for the review!
The manager and waitress knocked themselves out to make us happy after it started with disaster. Got there and were told by the hostess that we had no reservations even though they had already seated our friends. She was very rude. We left and luckily came back in to prove we had Open Table reservations and our friends saw us.
Service was terrible, appetizer was cold (baked Brie) and not good, dinner took over 2 hours for 2 people. Food was mediocre at best. Also, made a reservation and still had to wait for the table for 15 min. Very disappointed.
Hi there. Sorry to hear you didn't enjoy your experience with us, I can assure you this isn't normally the case. It was a very busy night and tables were enjoying themselves, therefore, not wanting to leave. We do not ask guests to depart from their tables, which is likely why you did have to wait for a rather short period of time. I hope you will give us a try again soon so we can change your mind!
Great meal. Loved our waitress but drink service lagged at times, not her fault though
"Good, not great." - Dwight Schrute
Our food was very good, the restaurant was very attractive. We thought the wine list was very overpriced. Our server brought us the wrong glass of wine and when she brought the correct one, she took the incorrect one back to the bar. What did they do with the full glass I already drank from? Yuck if the served it again to someone else. We really liked the coffee from the local roaster Daydream Coffee, but the hostess could tell us nothing about it and told us to ask at the bar if we needed more information.
Thanks for your feedback. We are thrilled that you enjoyed your meal, we just updated to our Winter Menu and are very excited about it! Sorry about the wine switch up, as in any mistake that is made, our staff is told to remove the item and replace it with the correct one. I am sure your server would have been happy to leave it with you if it was communicated. Under no circumstance would your wine have been redistributed to another table. See you again soon.
Was not impressed when the restaurant first opened. Since the new chef and menu, it’s much nicer. Would definitely recommend!!
The staff was great! We would definitely come back. loved the SHrimp and Grits BUT wish there were LESS onions in the grits.
Family enjoyed the food and the restaurant is highly rated. The starter menu left me wanting to just order an array of appetizers. The staff was friendly and helpful. Perhaps because it was Sunday night, the service was shared and a little slow. I would reccomend trying this restaurant.
Wonderful choice of very fresh local fare; hade the pork chop which was phenomenal; friend had salmon; excellent...great experience will definitely return!
Great cocktails food and service. Denise does a great job.
Enjoyed everything about this restaurant. Had a drink at the bar before dinner> we got there early so we can have a drink. The bartender was very knowledgeable and very informative. When we decided to let them know we were ready for our table we sat right down. For an appetizer my wife and I shared the pork belly. It was outstanding. One of the best appetizers we have ever had. And we go to dinner at least one a weekend, and often times twice. Typically this type of place. For my meal I had the hanger steak. This is a default meal I get when I am new to a restaurant. Again, this was not a mistake. The steak was done perfectly medium rare. And the potatoes that came with it very fantastic. Best hanger steak I have ever had. My wife had the bone in filet medallions. Those were also very good. And the perfect size for her. This was my first visit to 151 but it will not be the last.
Getting the reservation was easy. They were accommodating when 1/2 the party was on time and 1/2 was 10 min. late. The drinks and food were delicious. There were multiple servers and staff at our table to ask if we needed anything. It did take a long time to get our meal though. Long enough to be noticeable. I would try it again.
We got seated right away. One of my guests had food sensitivities so he had the server explain exactly what was in the dish. Unfortunately, the young server didn’t explain what ingredients were there and when he received his plate with corn on it, he couldn’t eat it. So we had to send it back. Wish the servers were more knowledgeable. What we did get was fine. It was a little disappointing that no one came by to apologize. For the price I was hoping for a bit more professionalism.
Hi There. Thank you so much for the feedback. I'm sorry we weren't able to meet your needs on your food sensitivities. We do mention as many ingredients on the menu as possible in order to avoid issues with allergies, etc. Rest assured, our servers do go thru a detailed training, ongoing, to ensure we are providing them with the knowledge of the menu needed to give guests an exceptional experience. See you soon!
Everything was good about the food. A little to loud though
Incredible food and service. The desserts are TOTALLY worth it.
