The ambiance, decor and staff were perfect. Unfortunately the oxtails were tough but packed a lot of flavor. The jerk chicken tasted more like bbq chicken wings. I had high expectations.

We waited about 20 minutes for a table even though we had a reservation. Then we had to wait about an hour and half for our food. The food lacked flavor but was edible. Staff were pleasant but not attentive to the problem.

I found this restaurant on the nyc restaurant week list and decided to check it out. I was not disappointed! I ordered the escovitch snapper as well as the appleton farm Jamaica mule. It was delicious and the presentation of the fish was spectacular! Snapper is pretty standard as far as Jamaican food goes and all of the traditional Jamaican flavors and spices were present. A few of the other dishes on the menu are a creative spin on Jamaican cuisine. I had a very memorable experience. Definitely worth a try!

brought in a dj who played the music entirely too loud. My friend and I could barley hear each other. Food was good, but my friend got the tiniest bowl of oxtails for $32. Drinks were excellent

Always have a good time here. The food is good and the service is great. Servers were super helpful and just had a good overall vibe. Also love their music. I came for brunch and did bottomless $40 including entree. I got the chicken and French toast. The French toast was crusted and had a good flavor, only thing I didn’t like was that it had raisins inside. Chicken is crispy and flavorful. Highly recommend!

We ate outside in the hut, it was noisy but inside was much louder. The waitstaff was not able to see easily into the hut, but whenever I waved at them, they immediately came in. They had tables on the sidewalk which I think would have been a better option 😈

Very dope decor inside that captured the spirit of Jamaican culture - I love me some Wray & Nephew so there were a few items I'd probably snag for myself. The scorpion wings were a good deviation from the typical jerk wing appetizer you see at restaurants. It was essentially seasoned wings with a scotch bonnet sauce - your mouth will be on fire so if spicy isn't your thing, pass on it. I love spicy though. The Jerk Mushrooms were good - but deifnitely just like how I make at home. THe curry coconut oxtail and "plaintain" grits were amazing and super filling. I'm currently dreaming about those grits. Now, I'm not sure what made them PLANTAIN grits - pretty sure that's just marketing, but they were good. As for the oxtail - I need the recipe. I will recommend to everyone I know visiting NYC and I will definitely be back. And tunes were jammin of course.

Excellent rum punch and the rice and peas is good as well. The food overall needs work, the powder seasoning is overwhelming and takes away from the authentic taste. The fish was not scaled properly, salmon dry! They need to work on making the food taste better.

Customer Service was on 10 as well as the food. The stamp and go was delicious along with the dip. Lamb chops and salmon were delectable. Also enjoyed a sorrel cocktail that had hints of lime and ginger, just divine. The vibe was upbeat and there was even a guest DJ. Indoor/Outdoor seating available and the clientele were very friendly. That was a bonus to this gem of a restaurant. If you’re missing Jamaica just a bit, stop by and feel the love. There’s a Natural Mystic flowing through the air. 🇯🇲

I love everything about Omar's! Ive been twice and it is becoming one of my favorite spots in the city. Amazing food, drinks are strong, service was TOP 5 and dont get me started on the music. The vibe is great, Perfect place for a bday or brunch on the weekend with friends.

The food was amazing the wait was too long. They did communicate and let us know the health inspector was there but that delayed our food. I ordered a side of mac or cheese which didn’t come out until we were done eating everything else… Not really worth the price in my opinion

Food was decent. The menu is very small and to the point. The best thing I had was the Appleton Wings which were baked wings and the Rice & Peas. The Stabbin Cabin was a “Dussé” drink which had no such thing in it, mostly mango purée. Waiter was trash, he sat at the bar as if he was a customer. Our table was leaning and shaking. I asked to move over to the next table that had the same amount of space as the one that we sat at and, was told “No, that’s reserved for a bigger party”. Were there for approximately 1hr and no party ever came in. We were basically trying to balance our food and drinks on this tipsy table. My boyfriend and I both had the Jerk BBQ Salmon, Rice & Peas. The Mac and Cheese was mid. Overall I wouldn’t even recommend coming here. There’s betters places to spend your money but, to each their own.

We waited over a hour and half to be seated, coming from Jersey to try this restaurant for the first time. It was not good at all. We then waited 35 minutes to get out food, plus the food was cold. It was 5 of us and couldn’t even fit comfortably on the small table. Before I forget we did not have utensils at the table. We had to wait 6 minutes after receiving the cold food to get some bought to the table. Please my friend and I got sick off the curry oxtail.

Loud vibrant atmosphere in a small restaurant with a DJ playing reggae. Drinks were absolutely delicious. The food was all really great but I liked the appetizers better than the entrees. Might just grab drinks and appetizers here next time I’m in the neighborhood. Definitely recommend for a group of friends to get together for some food and drinks.

Omar’s Kitchen and Rum Bar is so much fun. The drinks, music, vibes, food, atmosphere, and aesthetic was up there. Perfect for a girls night out, birthdays, a date, etc. Also, the customer service from the host, waiters, bartenders, and even the DJ was top tier. Can’t wait to go back!

This Carribbean restaurant is a foodies dream. from the doubles tacos , to the fried fish, to the medium well lamb. The only thing that would make this menu even more perfect is Haitian rice . The DJ ice cold, had great transitions with music, and I will definitely be back.
