Olón - Tropicana Atlantic City Ratings and Reviews
This was recommended by a friend and it was great. The brunch value is wonderful- afraid to say this as they may rise the price! The raw bar was fresh (wish they had crab claws) and the dishes were all a bit unique. The bloody mary bar was fun!
The service was really good and we had a waiter who was from our home town which is tiny!
Would definitely return.
Service was fair. Took awhile before anybody came over to us. The plantain chips with salsa were really good which we received when we ordered. The screwered tapas were good and you get 3. The mussel dish sounded good but the dish was small and so were the mussels. The sauce was good but too much garlic and salt. The Tuna was good but nothing special. Probably won’t go back. Too many other good restaurants.
My wife and I went here for our anniversary. The overall atmosphere was nice but a little too noisy for my tastes. Food was fantastic. Wagyu steak was the best steak I have ever had. Service was excellent. This is an expensive restaurant that I wouldn’t recommend for anyone on a tight budget. Under the right circumstances, my wife and I would definitely go back!
We've been twice and loved our food. We like the small dishes and try several. Our friends were disappointed in the amount of food...thought it was too small. They wouldn't go back. She had 1/2 lobster and said she only got 2 forks of meat. Our server Jimmy was outstanding.
Wonderful dinner, everything was absolutely fantastic, Cynthia was our server. We had the cauliflower and empanadas to start, cauliflower skewer was out of this world! The empanadas were delicious too, we got the mista and enjoyed all 4! For dinner I had the chicken and the presentation was fabulous and delicious! My partner had the surf and turf, once again was outstanding. Presentation was beautiful and he thoroughly enjoyed it. Only constructive criticism was that the steak was a little veiny persay, I understand it was probably a skirt sirloin but for the price maybe a little more mindful. Mashed potatoes were heaven! Will be back, will recommend and will be back with others!
Olon was amazing!! The food was incredible and the staff was so helpful and friendly. We had drinks at the bar prior to our reservation and I wanted a picture taken, the lady behind the bar went so far as to find us a nice spot in the restaurant to take the picture and took several to make sure we liked them. The drinks were excellent, I recommend the gin and tonic that they make with dragon fruit. For dinner we had the sweetest waitress, Katy, who recommended delicious oysters when I saw some names of oysters I hadn’t seen before. We had the steak, the guacamole, and empanadas. All were excellent. Best part of our trip to AC!!!
I was really looking forward to celebrating my husbands retirement. This was supposed to be a special dinner which I noted when I made my reservation. We had drinks at the bar first, the sangria was good.
The restaurant wasn’t busy, it was the night of the big freeze. My husband had a hat on and they embarrassed him by asking him to remove it . I don’t know who he offended wearing his hat, but it put a damper on the night. He ordered the fried shrimp, it wasn’t even warm . The empanadas were good. Paella was just okay. I was really hoping to have a special night I read such good reviews. I am so disappointed.
We went to the Palms the night before and they know how to treat you. They asked him about his retirement and sent over dessert on the house. What s great experience.
I will not recommend Olón . They weren’t even crowded and they weren’t attentive. I love to eat out and it was not a good experience.
Second time at this restaurant, but this time was disappointing. Server was inattentive, service was extremely slow (despite restaurant not being busy) and to top it off, they did not understand the redemption of OpenTable points.
It's annoying when you like a restaurant and are eager to return, only to experience disappointment.
First time here-will return! Our "cabana table" had ocean veiw. Staff were friendly, knowledgeable, attentive. I wanted to do "La Mesa de Jose" chef's selection meal so, my husband joined me. The courses were served in a timely manner & explained precisely. From bread to desserts, we were pleasantly surprised with each delicious course. YUM!
I took my girlfriend to olon for New Year's Day brunch. The food and service was spectacular. Seafood on the Raw Bar was fresh and prepare beautifully. Oysters clams and shrimp and ceviche very satisfying. Crabmeat Benedict and coconut French toast we're the best we ever had. Compliments to the chef. Avocado toast and fresh berries yum. Our server katy was very attentive and friendly. We will be back!
THE FOOD WAS OK, MY WIFE'S SALMON WAS SO SALTY SHE HAD TO SEND IT BACK. I THOUGHT IT WAS A LITTLE PRICEY FOR WHAT YOU GOT. MY SON HAD BRONZINI WHICH THEY USUALLY FILET AT THE TABLE BUT HERE THEY DID NOT. I HAD LAMB CHOPS WHICH WERE VERY GOOD BUT ONLY HAD 3 SMALL ONES.
THE SERVICE WAS SLOW AND THE FOOD TOOK A LONG TIME TO COME OUT AND THE WERE NOT BUSY.....
Went there for Christmas Eve with my boyfriend. We picked the 55 dollar menu where the chef picks the food served. There was a lot of food and everything was delicious. Service is great, both our waiters were very nice. The place is beautiful - everything from the bar at the entrance to the restaurant looks amazing. Highly recommend.
We made a reservation for a weekday night and were seated promptly on arrival. We started with Banana Chips and Guacamole as an appetizer and was delicious fresh. Next my wife had a Crab cake and I had Halibut with Asparagus as side vegetable. The crab cake came with a spicy salad, however, there was nothing with Halibut fish. Both dished were freshly made and tested well.
As a desert I had a Ceviche of fruits which were a mixture of Kiwi, Mango, Cantaloupe etc.
All the meals were very well seasoned and tested well.
The service was good and the wait staff cleaned up our tables promptly and filled the water glasses as needed in between different courses.
Overall, I would recommend Olon to anyone who want to experience fresh seafood type cuisine.
Some of the food we ordered was extremely salty..to the point where you couldn’t eat it. As an example the guacamole and chips. The guacamole was excellent but the chips and plantain chips were so salty we did not eat them. The empanadas were ok, we got the variety so we tried all 4 of them. The beef was the best but we found the dough and especially the edges to be too thick. Also got the cauliflower skewers and again they were so salty we couldn’t eat them, and I mean really salty. The stuffed flounder was good. The ambiance is excellent but we were for the most part disappointed with the food (at least what we ordered). We may try it again but would specify right up front that we prefer low salt.
The food and the service were outstanding! We had the chef’s tasting menu and was very fun trying food from each part of the menu.
Empanadas, civiche, Etamame salad, lobster and filet and two tastings from the dessert selection. The staff was fun and engaging and we wil absolutely be back!
Our 5th time here. Whether eating at the bar or in the restaurant the food is consistently great! My favorite casino restaurant! Don’t miss the guacamole with the best chips. Even the bread at the table is amazing. Skirt steak is the best! They really care about food allergies. Service is always on point. We will be back again and again!
