Olón - Tropicana Atlantic City Ratings and Reviews
Dined here for my birthday with my husband. We ordered 4 small plates - paella, empanada, skewer and an appetizer of fried fish. Everything was fresh and delicious. We had a peppered tequila handcrafted cocktail which was fabulous. Monica, our server, was very knowledgeable and efficient. We plan to dine here each time we are at the Trop. Garces also has a Japanese "speakeasy" type restaurant here which we will try as well.
Magnificent view, tasteful decor and great ambiance. Our waiter Cheech, was informative, patient with all my questions and knowledgeable. He guided us very well in how much to order and made some suggestions that were terrific. We loved it so much we are going back tonight but to the Asian restaurant that is hidden behind the candy store!!
We reserved our table a few weeks ago online prior to staying at Tropicana. Although initially disappointed with the location of our table (noisy and near flashing lights) the staff quickly relocated us. Everyone we dealt with was friendly and efficient. The food was delicious and we look forward to coming again in the future.
Bar was too brightly lit and service was terrible. It took a while to be waited in, only to receive the wrong drink. Once in the restaurant, service was better. We were first seated in the back against a noisy party in the back room but were moved upon request. Mussels and crab guacamole were great but the other food we ordered was average. I would not return. I am local and feel Mr. Garces would not approve.
Food was fresh, clean tasting, creative. Maurice, our server, was excellent. Really gave a great overview of the food, great suggestions. Everything we tasted was delicious, standouts were the black mussels (ask for a spoon, and extra bread to get all the delicious sauce), cerviche, beef skewer. Make sure you save room for the coconut mango layered dessert-share it, it is amazing.
Was a little confused with the menu but our waitress was excellent
I had the steak and it was so good
My husband had the salmon that came out too rare
And The waitress guickly returned it to the kitchen and it came back to perfection
The view is oceanfront
Will return soon
We enjoyed Olon! The food is Peruvian and therefore very different from your run of the mill fine dining experience. HIGHLY recommend the Waygu skirt steak!!! perfectly seasoned and perfectly tender! Ceviches were delicious as well well as the empanadas. Our group tried several of the desserts and all were good. I would return to try more items. My only complaint was I thought the prices were on the high side for a tapas type menu. However our final cost was not much more than a typical fine dining tab.
The tasting menu option was great to be able to try a large variety of what the restaurant has to offer. The servers were great and attentive. The ambiance felt as if I was in a modern cabana. The food was delicious and I tried somethings that I never thought I would eat. It was overall a great experience.
I had my first date here and we really enjoyed it. It's a tapas spot that has Spanish cuisine with twists to it. The food is phenomenal and they have Costa Rican beer Imperial by the bottle, which I missed so much. All in all, if you're into tapas then you're going to like this place. I'll go again.
This was our first dinner visit and first with the full menu since we had previously gone for a lunch during AC restaurant week. Very impressive. Service was extraordinary. All small plates were excellent especially the ceviches and the hearts of palm salad. The room is beautiful and the boardwalk / ocean view tops off a lovely experience.
Another Garces masterpiece. Delicious, fresh . Visually appealing. Great ambiance. Wonderful service. Stimulate the palate. We had the chicken empanadas. The pork and sweet potato skewers. The branzino the lamb chops, asparagus and red bean with ham and sweet potato. For desert the coconut parfait with mango and pistachio....all were generous portions and amazing. A bit pricey but we'll worth it
interesting replacement for fin. seafood dishes very good, but not the standard garden variety. many of them had a little "kick" to them. lobster was huge and delicious with a very different butter. brand new, worth a trip. not an oyster fan, but huge oyster bar available.
Food was ok.You have to wait a long time for your dinner. My wife dinner came 20 minute before I got my dish.I visit Trop every other weekend.Love Fin.I probally ate at fin over 50 times. How can you have a restaurant with no pasta. The side dish was very limited.
Only open 1 week, Olon still needs to work out some of the kinks. We ordered a drink at the bar before dinner - the waitress gave us a rundown of wines by the glass - so we ordered one - turns out her list did not match what the restaurant really offered, so we were faced with calling over the GM to help solve the problem...strange, right? With that said, the food was pretty tasty. The idea is to order "small plates" for sharing. They do offer a full-sized "regular" dinner at the bottom of the menu. We shared quite a few dishes and found the empanadas to be absolutely outstanding. The skewers were so salty - to the point of not being able to eat them. We ordered too much food - out waiter was not a great guide to helping us manage the amount of food. He kept saying that we did not order too much - then came by at the end of dinner to say that we ordered so much food....which is it??? All in all, there are other restaurants that offer a better overall dining experience.
Really was looking forward to eating here for our anniversary! What a dissapointment. Over priced, couldn't get one order of empanadas right. Brought out 3 different orders and they still weren't what we asked for! $50.00 steak i ordered came out cold , ewww. They really need to work things out before opening. Over priced, not worth it. I'll stick to cuba libra for empanadas and steak.
