Olivine wine bar is nestled inside of the 170-year-old heritage-listed bluestone walls of the former HM Pentridge Prison.

You will meet your host to guide you through this unconventional space, until you find yourself in velvet-clad, faintly lit booths. Hidden away, the only distraction here is our novel-like book of wine, your key to our walk in cellar.

Olivine is a place for all from the most passionate to those just beginning their journey of wine. Our list is written in a way that encourages you to sample different regions, we hope you'll come away with a few new favorites or some wines to add to the bucket list.

Walk-ins are subject to availability. Booth seating cannot be guaranteed but we aim to accommodate guest requests where we can.

Beautiful beautiful talking point of a venue. One of the most unique places to have a nice drink mixing with architecture and history. The staff are so friendly and respectful of your space. Highly recommend for date night or for a different experience with friends.

Fantastic aesthetic but wouldn’t recommend for groups, the staff were not welcoming or accomodating and regularly stood near by watching and counting our group. We had to commit to a minimum spend to have more than 8 guests. We didn’t have enough seats despite plenty of other free areas. And were not allowed to order individually from the bar or split our bill. Great location better customer service and more flexibility would be appreciated.

Hi Gemma, Thank you for sharing your feedback regarding your recent visit. You had confirmed a reservation for eight guests with the understanding that you would notify us if your numbers increased. We also followed up via email to confirm our group reservation policy. On the day of your visit, we did our best to accommodate your group, which exceeded 16 guests, by providing a larger space to keep everyone together and assigning a dedicated waiter for your service. As a table-service venue, we reiterated that orders are taken at the table rather than the bar. Additionally, our policy of not splitting bills is stated on all our menus and was mentioned upon arrival. We value your feedback and appreciate your understanding of our policies. Beautiful venue, food was beautiful. Unfortunately though the service wasn't good... aside from when we were first seated, we had to flag down staff to order, when one member of the table said they didn't want a drink the server didn't ask the rest of us and sped out. We had to ask for water twice and were still left with 3 glasses for 4 people. The whole vibe was rude, and it just felt like we were an inconvenience. Hoping it was just a bad night, as I've otherwise heard great things

Olivine has transformed Pentridge into a stunning cocktail bar. The design of the space is impressive, and it’s not the only thing that's exquisite here - the food and cocktails are delicate and bursting with flavour, while the staff is consistently attentive. This is definitely a place worth becoming a regular customer.

We were late for our booking, but still had over an hour for late afternoon drinks. We were constantly reminded that we had to be finished by 5.45 because there was another booking for this space. We were conscious to finish anyway, we had another event to go to ourselves. the last of our bottle was poured with 20 mins to go, but we then were reminded with the bill, then payment, then reminded again. We created a relaxed ambience for our group of 4, but the wait staff were just too too pushy about the time limit. Yes guys, we knew, and were finished before your deadline, - please just let us relax within your time limit. It took away from the ambience of this beautiful space.

Hello Lucy, Regarding your reservation, we make every effort to ensure clarity about our dining times and availability, and this is outlined via OpenTable both during the time of booking and in the terms and conditions sent out with booking confirmations. Our standard booking time for a party of up to 4 is 75 minutes We understand that you were frustrated during your visit, but it’s important to note that we do not tolerate any form of aggression towards our staff. The decision to ask you to leave was based on the behaviour displayed during your interaction with management. Great selection of sharing plates, intimate setting excellent service a standout was Madison. Also fantastic warm greeting by Manager Fabio. Overall an excellent place for very tasty sharing plates and an equally impressive drinks list. We will be back.
