Olivine wine bar is nestled inside of the 170-year-old heritage-listed bluestone walls of the former HM Pentridge Prison.

You will meet your host to guide you through this unconventional space, until you find yourself in velvet-clad, faintly lit booths. Hidden away, the only distraction here is our novel-like book of wine, your key to our walk in cellar.

Olivine is a place for all from the most passionate to those just beginning their journey of wine. Our list is written in a way that encourages you to sample different regions, we hope you'll come away with a few new favorites or some wines to add to the bucket list.

Walk-ins are subject to availability. Booth seating cannot be guaranteed but we aim to accommodate guest requests where we can.

The table we had booked was given to someone else. When asked if we could have the equivalent to what we booked the manager was extremely rude and condescending. The table we were put at was squished against a wall with flickering lights and could not fit anything we had ordered on it. You could also not tell we were sat in a prison due to the table we were sat at and was extremely underwhelming. We were very upset with the way that the manager spoke to us and will not recommend this venue to anyone we know due to our experience.

We had a great night - all servers were friendly and welcoming. Our server was very knowledgeable with the wines and suggested a few delicious drops. One small suggestion is to perhaps add a fresh salad to the menu as a side as lots on the menu is moreish. Would have loved one with my steak.

My friend and I had an amazing night out! Having diner in the Olivine winebar is a very special experience. Extremely warm welcome from the friendly Claudia who was our host/waitress on the evening. She gave us great food suggestions and accurate service. The sommelier is very knowledgeable and all the wines we had were from outstanding quality. We specially enjoyed the fact to be able to drink a glass of Premium wine so you aren’t stuck with a bottle of the same. Overal very friendly staff and a special location to dine. I can highly recommend.

Beautiful beautiful talking point of a venue. One of the most unique places to have a nice drink mixing with architecture and history. The staff are so friendly and respectful of your space. Highly recommend for date night or for a different experience with friends.

Fantastic aesthetic but wouldn’t recommend for groups, the staff were not welcoming or accomodating and regularly stood near by watching and counting our group. We had to commit to a minimum spend to have more than 8 guests. We didn’t have enough seats despite plenty of other free areas. And were not allowed to order individually from the bar or split our bill. Great location better customer service and more flexibility would be appreciated.

Hi Gemma, Thank you for sharing your feedback regarding your recent visit. You had confirmed a reservation for eight guests with the understanding that you would notify us if your numbers increased. We also followed up via email to confirm our group reservation policy. On the day of your visit, we did our best to accommodate your group, which exceeded 16 guests, by providing a larger space to keep everyone together and assigning a dedicated waiter for your service. As a table-service venue, we reiterated that orders are taken at the table rather than the bar. Additionally, our policy of not splitting bills is stated on all our menus and was mentioned upon arrival. We value your feedback and appreciate your understanding of our policies. Beautiful venue, food was beautiful. Unfortunately though the service wasn't good... aside from when we were first seated, we had to flag down staff to order, when one member of the table said they didn't want a drink the server didn't ask the rest of us and sped out. We had to ask for water twice and were still left with 3 glasses for 4 people. The whole vibe was rude, and it just felt like we were an inconvenience. Hoping it was just a bad night, as I've otherwise heard great things
