Great food and very reasonable, excellent wine. Portions are modest so you leave without feeling bloated.
Very accommodating for both our table (downstairs in the cafe by an open window) and what we ordered (from the upstairs kitchen menu). We'll be back.
We Had a great anniversary dinner at Oliveto's. The food was fabulous! You have to try the Spaghetti neri with Gulf white shrimp, tomato, and chili. The service was also very good. We had a great bottle of wine at a reasonable price.
I wanted to love it but everything was “meh” and the dish I got was about a mouthful of average food given it was an expensive entree.
Our dinner at oliveto was outstanding, great food, peach salad with goat cheese especially good, and the presentation of my salmon was excellent, very creative with salmon cooked two different ways. Always pleasant service, easy parking, ambience very relaxing, great grey color of the walls and coordinating napkins, white table cloths. Great Saturday night dinner.
Actually had very good service. Problem was a 10 minute wait to get water served as the main server handed us off to another server, actually I think more of a helper… but he was awesome! My harsh rating is driven by a persistent lack of a warm and proper welcome… this is the third time this has happened where the primary server just fails to engage the Customer. Too bad… the food is good enough.
Food very good. Service great. Should invest in shims to level outdoor tables.
Celebrating birthdays .. wonderful meal all around.
We had a 6 pm reservation and we didn’t leave until 10pm. Took about 30 minutes to get our wine/cocktails. Another 30 minutes for the salads. About 45 minutes after we finished our salads to get our entrees. All 3 entrees (2 gnocchi; 1 flank steak) were not warm…barely above room temperature.
The menu was limited and a bit strange. The grilled stone fruit salad would have been good if the fruit had been ripe and grilled…it was crunchy.
The salmon offering was highly recommended by the server , was ordered, and had run out by 7 pm.
The strawberry profiteroles were soggy.
The bill was presented with 2 errors…a martini ordered but not served, and the salmon entree.
With tip, over $300 for 3 people. Yes, we still tipped and was pleasant to the server. He probably didn’t have a clue as to how disappointing we were in the service and the food…trying to be kind. When I understand that restaurants can have a hard time starting back up after the shutdown but we won’t be back did a long time. We weren’t asking for anything special… Just prompt service and warm food. It was a total disappointment.
Crudo appetizer was great. So was the salmon main course
The food is well prepared with the freshest of ingredients and the wait stall is friendly, courteous and well attentive.
Celebrating an anniversary we were disappointed to be seated downstairs . There was no indication upstairs was closed when I reserved it
Dinner menu and food were both very disappointing compared to what we had upstairs last time we came in. Only 3 entrees with no seafood offered
All of us had about 2 tbsp zucchini on our plates .. kind of insulting The Caesar salad was not even close to the one I have upstairs … it was bland and boring Service was courteous but inattentive
Really amazing dinner with exceptional service by Fernando. Had a very nice outside that was a little loud because of the traffic, but very nice nonetheless..
Excellent restaurant, both the upstairs part with the Meyer Sound System, and the downstairs cafe. Was able to dine outside on sidewalk and enjoy everything. Great to have them back up and running!
I used to love their salads but 2 nights ago, really disappointed. The salad was listed as
“Grilled Stone Fruit with goat cheese, candied walnuts, endive, & orange vinaigrette”. We received a plate of arugula, with very small bits of goat cheese and 3 VERY SMALL slices of stone fruit that tasted like they were marinated in a “smoke added” solution.
We used to bring friends and recommend this restaurant frequently, but are now reluctant to do this.
I'm afraid it was a disappointing evening at Oliveto. My date and I arrived at 6:30 p.m., and we ordered shortly thereafter. We were served drinks and a vegetable salad to share ($18, a small serving of tiny diced vegetables and three pieces of shrimp). By 7:55 p.m. the entrees had not arrived. I paid for what we had been served ($50, plus a tip), and we left. The server, Todd, was gracious and apologetic. I can only assume the breakdown occurred in the kitchen.
Very quist noise level, table spacing good... food, excellent
It's a little different in its current incarnation. Some mainstays such as the chocolate cake and porchetta weren't on the menu. But the fundamentals of nearly perfect Italian food in a beautiful and quiet dining room remain.
We have frequented Oliveto's for many years and have never been disappointed, and last night was no exception. Our experience continues to be more than satisfactory. We have seen several chefs come and yet the quality of the food has continued to be first class.
Fancy but not pretentious or stuffy. The food was delicious and thoughtfully prepared. Service was great too. A quiet place for a date, a special occasion or just to treat yourself to nice atmosphere and fine dining. It’s a gem.
Todd was a very attentive server. Great job Todd!
Fantastic! I'm so glad there is still outdoor seating on Shafter.
I’m not one to complain but this place needs some work. The service is downright awful. So inattentive, 30 minutes passed before a server came by to greet us. Then when finally got some bread and water we we had no flatware, napkins or plates to eat with. It took another 10 minutes to get table settings. The menu is limited and they were out of a number of things. Lastly, the portions are small, like really really small and for the prices, it just feels like a rip off. Such an awful dining experience. We will not be returning.
For a Birthday dinner, we had a fab pasta, prawn salad, and King Salmon which my wife raved about, I had the quail, beautifully done, almost ate the bones (kidding)
Lovely dessert. Happy they are back.
The Wild Salmon dish was excellent. As was the crudo, and vegetarian entree.
It was our daughter's birthday, and she wanted us to do something unusual for her birthday. So we all got haircuts, hauled out our suits and fancy clothes, and headed to Oliveto's for a nice dinner in a quiet location where we could hear each other talk without raising our voices, and the food would be delicious without being ridiculously avant-garde. We like good food that is still recognizable. We love good cocktails and a good wine list too. We splurged. It was worth every penny. We loved the cocktails. We loved the starters - the duck breast was sublime. We loved the salad with the goat cheese and beets and pears. The cannelloni and the gnocchi were to die for. The portions were such that we had a bit more room for more, so we all shared the salmon. It was a great choice. Her dad said he could have eaten the whole thing! For dessert (yes, we still had room), we picked the chocolate sorbet, the pear cake with the bourbon nuts (OMG good), and the profiterole. We all shared. And the wine, it was great. We picked the Barbera, Chianti, and one more that I can't remember. You can't go wrong. They were all great. Finally, the service. Our server was attentive and very helpful with explanations of the menu. Unless you speak Italian, you will likely need explanations. She was a lovely woman which made it even nicer for all of us. Beautiful decor, fabulous interior design, and QUIET!!!! Nice enough to bring your parents, or have them bring you!
We dined upstairs despite the fact that they had closed this area because of lack of servers. As a special treat we had dinner with our friends as the only ones upstairs. It was great.
Food and service were great!
Post vaccine dinner date. A little loud with street noise but oh so thrilling to eat it. Food and service was perfect
Very good restaurant, and service could be better
Very tasty and special place
Shane was a great waiter he was very attentive and even though he was obviously busy he still did great and made sure to keep up with our needs. He has a great sense of humor and definitely will be back.
Good to be back! Expected more space between tables. Entrees were good except for wild rice with mine- tasteless cardboard. Very good service.
I forgot there are not many non-meat choices. Unusual for an Italian restaurant.
Lovely evening. Perfect outside dining ambiance with yummy food, well prepared, and good drinks, served quickly and with grace.
Oliveto has returned stronger than ever. The food was outstanding, presentation very tempting, the service was friendly, the manager on top of things that might go wrong like the computer going down, very enjoyable evening.
Prices seem higher, portions smaller, and there's no more olive bread...but happy to be back upstairs.
My partner and I are vegetarian. If you are vegetarian I would not recommend this restaurant. There were little options and even small portions. The service was phenomenal. We had the pleasure of having Todd serve our meal. He was the only bright spot. Everything else was horrible.
I brought my son here as he typically likes dining out with me which is rare in this weird time and they were busy so I let them tend to their work and waited patiently. Then I noticed they weren’t just busy we were not being treated like everyone else there. I loved this place last time I went but this time it was much less friendly.
Delicious, beautifully presented, innovative food, and not that expensive for what it was. Everything we had was spectacular and the service was caring and unobtrusive.
