Ate at Oliveto to go to a concert at the Xcite center. First off, the wine by the glass is poured by the waitress (who does that?). We got a definitely below average pour and for $9 for the cheapest wine made it a really bad value. Every other table in sight got larger pours. The food was average for the price. The service was near nonexistent. By the time our meal had been over for a while (we had our check) every dish and glass including bread, salad, main course and empty wine glasses were still on the table. We asked for the check and when it came the waitress had 4 of them in her hand and had mixed up the credit cards and rung up the wrong checks. We saw the runners serve food to the wrong tables twice.
I'd recommend, but set their expectations. I've eaten here a few times and always the same result. They just can't seem to get it together. What is listed on the menu for dishes is constantly substituted, and sometimes substituted with ingredients that you may not want or like. I had the salmon which was supposed to come with pea risotto. Instead it had a layer of spinach. I've had the chicken piccata before, and they decide to add tomatoes -- there are no tomatoes in piccata. We sat down and our utensils were taken away, had to ask for more utensils. Salt and pepper shakers were literally empty -- no cork in the bottom, just there for decoration. Always seems to be confusion in this restaurant. Keep trying.
Horrible service. The waitstaff and bartenders were arguing and unable to provide any level of service. Waitress kept complaining about bartender - waitress was over her head and then basically ignored our table. Same situation for table next to us which was also a party attending the concert that night. Manager tried to help out on floor but it took 15 and then 10 minutes for a beer.
Surprised the food was served. Meatballs were dull and overcooked. Pizza was extremely dry. And the rigatoni and meat sauce was basically a plate of pasta under water.
One of the worst dining experiences I’ve had in a while. Would recommend to look elsewhere.
Tried Oliveto for the first time. Had a reservation and was seated right away. First thing I noticed was how small the table for two was. The food came out too quickly when you order an appetizer, salad and pizza.
At one point we had app and salads on table. Our pizza was done but no room for it. We saw them take it back to kitchen. When it did come out you could tell it was not right from oven. The food itself was mediocre at best. Husband only got first glass of wine. No one came back to ask if he would like another. Service not that attentive. Not impressed by this dining experience and will not be returning.
DONOT go here if you are in a rush to a show ! This was the slowest and worst service we have seen in a LONG time ! Inexperienced servers and just a very long wait for bread, wine and food! Get there very early if you need to be out. We started at 530 and we didnt leave until 7:15 . Food was ok..
We had eaten here last year and enjoyed it very much. Unfortunately things have deteriorated. Our server was very busy but pretty good but chicken livers & my chicken piccata were both overcooked. Caesar was bland, the frico on it tasted a little stale. The bread was terrible. Menu had changed and was very limited. My husband's short ribs were pretty good.
Only one bartender on duty on a Saturday night. Had to wait forever to get our drinks. Dinner for four and one person would get their beer, while the others waited for a glass of wine. That person was done their beer before the wine and mixed drinks came. Was done my dessert before my drink came. Bartender seemed only interested in those seated at the bar, not the dining room customers.
I have eaten at Oliveto at least 10 times with friends. Food delicious and the drinks are exceptional. My favorite restaurant at Parx.
I had the eggplant. Did not taste like home cooked Italian food, more like frozen out of the box heavily breaded. Not worth the price. Good service though, nice staff.
My table is always ready but the service is horrible Didn't ask me what type of vodka and give me top shelf when I didn't ask for it and then charge for 2 drinks when I only had 1 and ask twice for oil for bread and not bring my appetizer out and give me my main meal
First, our reservation was cancelled the night before by the restaurant with no notice. I received an email from Open Table that it was cancelled and placed another reservation. We arrived a few minutes before our 4:30 reservation and were seated immediately. There were only 2 other couples in the restaurant at that time. The server took our order. My husband ordered the lasagna & I ordered the Spaghetti Carbonara(which had no peas) both were served cold and had to be taken back to the kitchen. Our food was returned to us and it was at the correct temperature. We had to ask for grated parmesan. I was disappointed in the Spaghetti Carbonara as there were no peas and an over abundance of bacon and very little sauce. We both had Tartufo for dessert which were delicious but they were brought without silverware to eat with and we had to ask for silverware. By the time we were having dessert the restaurant had filled up and the noise level was over the top. In my opinion, the servers need to be better trained. Having to ask for silverware is, in my opinion, not the way to run a restaurant.
Service was horrible and only gave above poor for all around experience because food was half decent. They need to get their act together.
service was non-exsistent. We ordered drinks and after recieving them became invisible to the bartenders. Waited 15 minutes for a server to acknowledge we had been seated. Ordered soup and dinner, recieved lukewarm soup and then waited 45 minutes for dinner. Finally asked hostess/manager where dinner was and she offered to "look into it". Needless to say we did not wait. We were seated at 6:30 and had enough time for dinner before the show in the x-cite center at 8:00pm. Hostess/ manager ackowledged "some problems" but NOT ONCE did she apologize.
The food was good. The waitress very nice. It took a while for the food to arrive but we were not in a rush so we were fine with that.
Food took forever .. it came out cold .. how I don’t know .. service was horrible .. will not go back.
Waited a long time for our food.
This is now one of my favorite restaurants to eat at. Food is absolutely delicious & service top notch.
We had dinner at Oliveto before going to the theater and it was a great experience. Would definitely go back gain.
food, service, atmosphere were excellent. Coming back on july 13th .
Service was great. They made sure we got our food quickly so we could make our show.
No wait and nice atmosphere. Over priced for food that tastes like a frozen dinner. They were also out of both Pinot Noir and Grigio which I’ve never experienced at an Italian restaurant. We also waited 10-15 minutes until someone came for drink orders. Will not be returning.
Food was good. They use a very strong olive oil that can be overpowering in the sauce to some people. I got the chicken parm it was very good. Crispy and moist. My husband got the chicken marsala. It was good but he waited about 10 minutes after a mix up in the kitchen to get his food when everyone else already had theirs. Would return. But it is pricey.
Excellent food & service. Placed our order with our waitress & food was delivered to our table within 5 minutes. Food was very good. Would highly recommend this restaurant.
Good place to eat before a show or a little gambling at Parx
Everything was good. Great value for being in a casino. Service was great. Only downside was it was loud and had a slight smell of smoke. I guess that comes with other being in a casino that allows smoking.
We were coming to Parx casino for a concert, so we thought why not get a bite to eat first. The food was delicious and the service was good. It was noisy (but expected being in a casino) and quite busy, but if the waitress couldn't check on us as often as needed a manager or someone else would check up on us. We enjoyed ourselves and our meal. Thank you.
Food was outstanding and portions large.
Service was good to very good. While the waitress came around enough times we were not offered additional grated cheese and did not ask us if we wanted coffee or dessert. Overall we would still recommend to friends,in fact we already have and will be back to dine in the future.
Food was excellent. Staff was helpful & friendly.
I wish there was more choices on the menu.
We will return
They are not staffed well enough to handle a pre show full restaurant. The servers are very sweet but extremely stressed and always apologizing for things taking a long time. But they are sweet and nice, but overloaded.
The food is very good. The noise level is high if it is a pre show crowd and a full restaurant. But after they left, we finished up our dinner in relatively less noise.
First let me, in my opinion, position this restaurant.
The service was excellent
The menu was very middle of the road basic, and the food was good, however the selection was too limited and fixed.
This is clearly a middle of the road basic Italian restaurant much like a chain similar to an Olive Garden or Sbarro's. I do realize that this is the only location.
No daily specials, no variations, of a bare bones Italian menu
Pizza/Pasta/Salads/Seafood and Veal and chicken limited items
Definitely not a higher end Italian bistro.
We felt this restaurant was a little pricey for the quality of food. My husband thought his lasagna was very bland and did not eat it. We were disappointed.
Ceasar salad was very flavorful. Lasagna needed a little more seasoning, but once grated cheese was added, it was better. Eggplant parmigiana was very good. Our waitress was very nice and helpful. Timing of meal was excellent.
Service was slow. Food was ok I had a calamari appetizer that you couldn’t even eat. However the salmon entree I had was really good. Overall it was just ok. I’d probably eat somewhere else next time
We have dined at Oliveto in the past and were very pleased
However, this time the service was poor. We waited at least 15 mins just for someone to get us drinks. Another 10+ mins for someone to take our order.
My friends got the lasagne which they said was very good. I got the pork Milanese which was ok. It had multiple burnt areas on it. Plus it’s served with arugula which was very bitter. Why not vegetables?. The garlic rolls must have been nuked because they became very hard
Disappointed in our experience.
Also, the restaurant was far from busy
We decided to eat here on Easter Sunday. I had the veal parmagiana which I was very very looking forward to. When I got my food it looked great. When I ate my food however the veal had such an awful taste and smell to it like it had turned bad awhile ago. My mother and fiance also tried to make sure it wasn't just me and my mother actually had to spit into a napkin. The waitress took forever and couldnt remember what we were asking for seconds after we asked. I asked her nicely to please take off the veal from the bill and I had such a bad taste in my mouth I didn't want anything else. When the bill arrived long and be hold the veal parm was the first thing on the check and was not taken off. Our waitress disappeared and we waiter another 10 minutes to see her again to ask her to please fix the check again. This was our first time here and whaat was suppossed to be our Easter dinner was ruined.
first arriving it looked quaint, checkered table cloths, candles Wine, etc. seated right away and then downhill from there, 20minutes before the roaming manager realized the server was non-existent, gives a free glass of wine and says the Server (remaining nameless) will be right over. pouring my glass he finished the bottle pouring all the sediment in my glass, I'll be right back to refill the glass, he never came back, ignored us after that. another 20min server appears and asks if we would like more time to see what we want to eat. we ordered, then we had to ask for bread, 10 minutes OK we have bread, can I have more water, 10 min, ok we have more water, nope just kidding she forgot, 45min in I finally got my wine exchanged. the food came out I ordered Veal Saltimbocca came out veal francese, I was too tired to complain and we had a show we were going to be late for if I sent it back.
Never going back, Italian food is too easy to get right and the menu was small enough not to screw it up.
Chicken parmigiana didn't seem to be freshly prepared, as the repeat dish, I originally enjoyed with a side of baked ziti. Seems like heated up parmigiana on a bed of angel hair pasta. Not as good as original dish last year. Not sure if chef changed.
Service slow. Long wait for order. Order arrived incorrect. Dirty dishes not removed.
Had a reservation. When we arrived, the hostess was nowhere to be found...was actually a line of people waiting at check in. Wasn't her fault...she was very busy cleaning up tables. Our two apps came before our drink order...took a while for them to come. Our wait person was very good...she apologized for the delay...looked like the bar was slammed. After our apps we had a pizza which was actually very good! Looked like a large wait staff but they were all too busy cleaning tables....seemed like they lacked a table cleaning staff. Wouldn't go back...will stick with the Parx Grill.
The food was good. However, even with a reservation, we had to wait for a table to be cleaned off. The service although very friendly and nice, was very slow.
