Nice small and quiet place
Lovely surroundings, very intimate. Staff gave excellent service.
The reason for the 3 star on the food: the food is nothing like the photos on the web site. The lobster caprese very disappointing. I made reservations solely based on the food listed on the site and it was not remotely close at all.
The bone in rib eye was tasteless and dry. Given this is a prime steakhouse it was a complete failure.
Side dishes were ok the tuna apetizer came very cold on a stale cracker.
Amazing food, beautiful restaurant. The service was outstanding as well, the only downside was the incredibly rowdy chef. The restaurant was fairly quiet overall, which made it very easy to hear one specific chef shouting, joking, and laughing in the back for most of the evening. Wouldn’t have been as big of a deal if it weren’t for the fact that they do a very good job of cultivating an intimate, romantic atmosphere, and that was greatly hindered by the rowdiness.
We have been many times and love the high quality of the ambiente and the food. Truly a place we can return to everytime and bring guests along. Never disappoints.
Made reservation for Sunday Brunch. Took reservation. We showed up. Restaurant is closed on Sundays and has been for a long time.
Amazing food, one of the best ribeye steaks I've ever had! Salt and pepper shrimp starter was also excellent. Waiters were all very friendly with great service. Not the cheapest place you will ever go but we'll worth the money.
We loved the decor and the fact that it is an intimate and quiet restaurant. Servers were attentive, but not constantly in your face, which we appreciate.
Steak was very good. Anything vegetable was uninspired and underdone, however. Service was attentive and professional. Ambiance is post-modern garbage. Prices are perhaps 25% above what one would expect to pay for the quality of what was received.
My Sea Bass was Blah.
Appetizers were very hotel fare.
We all were disappointed that their dessert menu had changed. One of the reason Oliver's Prime was choosen was for the Creme Brule for our daughters birthday & it was no longer offered.
Very nice, there is better steak but the place is run like a well oiled machine, the staff is perfection so it really makes up for any faults the food might have. If I’m being honest, the steak was a little dry.
Service was awful
Chose Oliver’s in Area to see Hamilton. Although a steakhouse had Salmon. Tasty, a bit more done than expected. Overall experience worth the cost.
We had Branzino and Short Ribs. Both were so delicious. It was my husband's birthday and she brought out a nice chocolate mousse cake.
Hidden Gem! This steakhouse on Sunset is delicious! Great food, attractive place. Really hidden- off the lobby of Grafton Hotel
Great service food is simple but perfectly prepared
Spectacular dining experience! The food was incredible. The shrimp appetizer and also the scallop appetizer where the best I have ever tasted. I got the center cut filet, and my husband got the $72 porterhouse steak. They both were the best steaks we have ever had!! We will be back again the next time we come to L.A.
This restaurant has it all: Great charm, great food, great decor. The staff couldn't have been nicer or more helpful. The steak was delicious and perfectly cooked. The appetizers are beautifully presented and so good. The dimmed lighting is very romantic. And we appreciated the generous seating that let us feel we had private space. We will definitely go back again.
Great restaurant! Service was 5 stars and the manager Dennis made my birthday extra special. Loved having the chef come out to bring my dinner out! Food was delicious! Thank you so much Oliver's!!! 🎉🎉🎉
Fantastic experience from a couple from Oz!
I bought a Travelzoo voucher for this restaurant. There were three choices for each-appetizer, entrée and dessert. Nice interior, friendly staff, and the food was delicious. The voucher was purchased for $99/2. I saw the regular prices and they were a bit pricey. The filet with potatoes was melt in your mouth. The chocolate dome awesome and the tuna appetizer was pretty good also. Service was a bit slow but we were in no hurry. We parked across the street for $2/hr. but had to dodge the traffic as the crosswalks were a bit away from the restaurant.
Would only recommend to friends with a bit of disposable income and who don't mind the drive (from Santa Clarita).
My wife and I shared a couple of apps and the NY strip. Food was delicious and service was attentive. Had a great conversation with the manager at the end of our meal.
Great location, decor and food. The service was professional and timed everything perfectly. Thanks
That was the best service and food I had in LA.our server Nathan and the person that was training, Craig were phenomenal! We ordered 5/6 appetizers and an entree , Nathan took the time to send out the food in a timely matter never rushing us. They were attentive without being intrusive. Great hosts without making us feel unwanted as there were only two other tables in the restaurant. I do not understand why this place is not busier! The food & service is amazing! Ask for Nathan.
I never give bad reviews but this has to be one of our most disappointing dining experiences ever. I am not exaggerating First of all we walked in and the restaurant smelled of rancid fish. That should have been our first tip off. We asked the hostess who sent the manager over who actually couldn't have been nicer. He informed us the smell was "fresh scallops" and that is how they smell when cooked. Um ok... not at seafood restaurants we've been to, but we gave it a pass. The restaurant decor is lovely and almost every seat is a booth which is nice. We ordered the iceberg lettuce wedge, which wasn't a wedge, it was a small portion of lettuce leaves, and the lobster caprese, where they forgot the cheese, so it was lobster with cherry tomatoes, and olive oil the tomatoes weren't ripe and were hard and sour. Moving right along we ordered the NY steak $60 and the ribeye $52 they were suppose to be 14oz and 18oz respectively. They were about half that size. The steaks came room temperature, alone on a cold white plate. We were shocked. I kid you not. We had mac and cheese (which was good) and broccolini which was plain steamed, not charred as stated on the menu. We never saw our waiter again. We ordered Apple Tarte from the bus boy with vanilla ice cream. It came sans vanilla ice cream and was days old. Absolutely awful. The worst. The prices were outrageous, especially for what we ate. We will never return and will be telling all our friends the same. I am shocked that reviews for this establishment are so good. Who's writing these? As we waiting for our car $16 plus tip, the people next to us were raging furious over their dining experience. Sounded a lot like ours. Shame on Oliver's. Hopefully some of you will read this and it will stop you from going there and wasting your time and money.
The dining experience was superb. Steak was cooked as requested!
Food was awesome, definitely pricey but worth it on a special occasion.
Delicious food, romantic atmosphere, wonderful service.
I have had the privilege to eat at many high end restaurants. How this place is presented and the price, I would put this place in that category.
First impression was the place was very nice. Services started out a little slow. Was told he was bringing bread and after a while had to ask for the bread. We had built up quite the appetite knowing we were coming to a high end restaurant. Sonthe bread went quickly and we requested more bread. This time to only return with 3 small slices.
We go ahead and order our food. He asked if we would also like an appetizer. We review the menu and ask if they seared Ahi. He said yes the Seseme Tuna is a seared ahi. So we order. I also ordered a salad just to find out there was only one dressing to choose from so I canceled. About 20 minutes later the appetizer came out and was not seared ahi to our disappointment. We gave it a go anyways and was very disappointed. He took it back and said he must have misspoke.
Our meals come and look nice. I had the filet. Which was very average at best. My friend had the Bison which was better than my filet but not amazing. My fiancé had the chicken Caesar and the chicken was extremely dry. So dry she did not eat all the chicken. The mash potatoes were very good and the mushrooms were good but on the bland side.
So over all we were not very impressed with our experience. We chose this restaurant by the reviews online, so we did have high expectations. We were very much let down. Hope it was just a fluke but feel you needed to know our experience.
Fantastic Filet Mignon. Truly exception Waygu beef tartar and the Chocolate Hazelnut dome was one of the best deserts I've ever had. I little too pretentious of a clientele but the food was terrific.
I was extremely pleased with my dining experience. The place is gorgeous. It is quiet, which is very nice for a change of pace to not have to scream at your dinner companion. We were un-rushed, no desire to turn the table. The courses came at a leisurely pace which should be the case with fine dining.
The service was very good, without being intrusive. The manager, Dennis, is great & makes you feel like you are in his home.
The steak & vegetables were like heaven on a plate.
This is a high end steak house so it isn't inexpensive.
We had a great time
For the price, I expected better.
On the plus side, the staff were very friendly. But there was too long of a wait between courses. And we weren't there at a busy time.
The biggest downside is that the food is just OK. Sure I ate everything I ordered; none of it tasted bad. But this is a very expensive restaurant, and I wanted to be wowed as I am at other restaurants in this price range. The thing that made it less special for us was when we learned that they make only one of the desserts in-house. That meant they weren't able to modify one of the desserts to be allergen-free. It made me wonder what else on the menu they aren't making themselves.
Ultimately we dined there for a special occasion, and it ended up not feeling special. So we won't be returning.
My husband and I went here on our anniversary and we couldn't be more pleased! It's a small little restaurant but the service and the food are wonderful. We were approached by the manager at the end of our meal, who asked how our experience was. We told him that we were just discussing how this is probably going to be our new go-to restaurant and that we would be coming back soon! We really enjoyed our time there together and the waiter, Robert, was so sweet and so courteous. The whole experience was definitely worth it and I'm not even a huge fan of Sunset Boulevard! Thank you to the restaurant, thank you to the chef, and thank you for the service on our anniversary-- you made it very special. :)
The food was very yummy but there's so much hype about Oliver's being the best steakhouse in California that we expected something mind blowing. The steak tasted like a good cut of meat - nothing special and definitely not good enough to spend 3 to 4 times what you would if you prepared it yourself. We tried the scallops too which were just like the steak - yummy but nothing special. The waiter was absent and we waited a while before finally getting refills multiple times. The hostess was fantastic though. The manager did show up at the end of our visit (we just finished paying) and seemed to genuinely want to know how great the experience was. Unfortunately we were running very late so we didn't have time to tell him. It was a nice restaurant but the value wasn't there for us.
Great customer service and food
The restaurant was supposed to be a Prime Steakhouse. It wasn't. I ordered a Filet and it was very dry. However my wife ordered the scampi and it turned out great.
Fantastic service with food to match. Great armosphere and energy. Sesame Tuna was AMAZING!
