Italian
Chef Erik De Marchi, born and raised in Imola, Italy- followed his passion of choice and graduated from the IAL culinary academy of Emilia-Romagna (Italy). In 2002 Chef Erik came to Los Angeles and worked with many Italian restaurants until her felt it was time to create his own experience. Oliver's Osteria, named after his son (who was born the same day he opened), is a culmination of Chef Erik's dream of being a father and owning his own restaurant.

My second time here. Delicious. I had the Branzino and it was very good. Also had the most delicious Artichoke Appetizer. Not a very large restaurant so make sure you have a reservation before going. You will love it!

We were seated early and everything went very well. A few special dishes were explained to us and we ordered some absolutely delicious entrees and the salads. Everything was just what we hoped for from a true Italian restaurant! We will be dining there frequently!

Without question, the best Italian restaurant in Orange County...and perhaps Southern California. Erik is not only a masterful chef, he is the ultimate host and gentleman. Dining here is a treat!

Absolutely fantastic! We ordered several apps, dinner and dessert and all were incredible. A must if you love Italian food. Waiters were so friendly.

A hidden gem in the heart of laguna beach. Unmissable place if you love authentic Italian food. Chef Eric makes all the pasta and desserts. I haven’t tasted food this good and authentic since I was back home in italy.

The food was outstanding. This is one of the only places I found that offers Caico e Pepe a true Italian tradition. The food was amazing and took me back to my time in Modena, Italy.

Bar next door has live music, including a bad singer, whose voice drowned out any conversation for those of us sitting in the patio. You need to put some sort of soundproofing. Food was very good, although a different take on cacio e Pepe, using tube pasta versus spaghetti pasta, and grated cheese instead of mixed through. Not like we had in Rome. My branzino-stuffed tortellinis were excellent, though.

Dinned outside on patio. Excellent waiter, Alisa. Love a waiter with a sense of humor! The beef carpaccio di manzo was beautiful with perhaps a bit too much arugula. My three other guests loved the salmon which was described as moist, tender and delicious.

Looking forward to a return visit.

We celebrated our 36th wedding anniversary here. This was our first visit to this restaurant and we can't wait to take our friends. Truly authentic Italian food. Wonderful!!

It has been six months since we went to Olivers. Eric and team have done a great job and the food was in a word ,fantastic as was the service. I had the mussels and clams in a red sauce for an appetizer and the fish was fresh and the sauce great for dipping. For an entre I had the cacio e pepe rigatoni....as good as I have ever had in Roma. The best part of the evening (our wedding anniversary was the service provided by Gianfranco. 5 stars for a great night out...bonus is that they are close to home and not a 12 hr flight to Rome or Firenze.

excellent homemade pasta, appetizers, main course. almost like we were back in Italy. local favorite and we bring new people to experience each time. a little noisy for conversation. i own a dog but think they should keep dogs on patio only, even if "emotional service dogs" for sanitary and health reasons.

We had an exceptional time at Oliver's! Marco was our server and we were well taken care of throughout our meal. We had the octopus as an appetizer; superb! We both ordered clam/mussels specials, (hers was clams with linguine, mine was the bowl of mussels and clams) and they were both delicious. Exceptional food, attention to detail and service. We will be back!

Our second visit & again, all dishes and service were perfect for us.

Because this is a small venue, it is too noisy for conversation inside, so we chose outdoor seating. (We would give 5 stars all around to a restaurant that would make some effort in its design to dampen sound so a table of four could enjoy conversation while dining and still serve as consistently good food as Oliver’s.)

Unless you sit outside noise level is too high. Patio is lovely. Ran out of cold beer glasses and would prefer tall beer glass. Also didn’t have Irish coffee mug so serves in wine glass ??? Took 15 minutes to get bread. No refills of water. Otherwise service was good. Marco was wonderful and attentive to our needs. I ordered the tube pasta dish with pecorino not remembering I had ordered it before. Always take some home as it is so rich and salty but understand it’s the cheese. Hopefully
No extra salt is added. Small complaint from the guys of only 2 beer choices. Other dishes ordered were delicious. Scallops and I forgot what else. Doing great job with only being open 1 year. Love the vibe and energy

The staff are very professional and passionate about the food they serve. Our waiter was hilarious and knowledgeable about the food. The homemade pasta is delicious and s must get. The carpaccio with black truffles is sinful. Definitely a place you want to come back again and again.

We ate at Oliver’s Osteria because no reservations were available at Terra at the Festival of the Arts and we had tickets for Pageant of the Masters that night. Didn’t know what to expect; what a terrific surprise! The restaurant’s a bit small and not quiet, but very cute and friendly. Both my friend and I ordered versions of tagliatelle pasta, hers with meat sauce, mine with lemon ( one of the specials). Both were absolutely delicious! Now that we know about Oliver’s Osteria, we will definitely be back.

I had the carpaccio appetizer. This was served with Fontina Fondue, so it was very creamy and heavy I thought. I prefer just a shaved parmesano reggiano, but this was ok. I also ordered the seared scallops with sautéed spinach. Oh, both the appetizer and my main dish included shaved truffles on top. It was ok. I wasn't that impressed with the food but the ambiance was wonderful and our waiter was top notch. As a matter of fact, all the wait staff were top notch and attentive. I'll go again and try something different. I had tiramisu for dessert and that was quite a bit heavier with a layer of a light chocolate cake underneath. Again, not what I'm used to but appreciate and understand the need for changing things up. Again, lovely restaurant, great wine list, great wait staff and the food was cooked perfectly as well as being served the exact temperature as it should be. I enjoyed myself.

Without question the best Italian food in Orange County and perhaps even southern CA. Everything is terrific. The food, the drinks and wine, the excellent service...all top notch. All of the food is outstanding, but I keep returning for the crab appetizer and the best cacio e pepe outside of Rome. Chef Erik is a real gentleman and a superstar chef!

FOOD. Branzino presentation was unexpected, wonderful and delicious!
Cacio e Pepe was amazingly good.
Panacotta melted in your mouth.

A wonderful neighborhood Italian restaurant that is a must go to restaurant. It is truly an Italian place where the chef and owners come out and talk to everyone...old friends and newbies like us. People walk in and those that have been there before give a big Hi to the bartender and he always has a smile & a wave.

Seating was close but comfortable. The bar was full and people ate dinner there too. It can be loud so you have to speak up.

Service was OK. They don’t rush you..almost to the point you wonder if the waiter forgot you. But then your order came out. If you are in a hurry, this might not be your place or at least plan around it. But you will be totally happy you went.
