Chef Erik De Marchi, born and raised in Imola, Italy- followed his passion of choice and graduated from the IAL culinary academy of Emilia-Romagna (Italy). In 2002 Chef Erik came to Los Angeles and worked with many Italian restaurants until her felt it was time to create his own experience. Oliver's Osteria, named after his son (who was born the same day he opened), is a culmination of Chef Erik's dream of being a father and owning his own restaurant.

Our first time at his restaurant, and we had a great experience. We were seated within 5 minutes of our arrival. WE ordered carpaccio with truffles, which was sooo good, just like we tried in Italy. We decided to try their homemade pastas, so we opted for Wild boar and their special Spinach Ricotta Raviollo with raw egg inside. Both pastas were very good, cooked perfectly. We also enjoyed our drinks (Montalcino red wine and Aperol Sprits) and panna cotta with expresso coffee.
Staff was very attentive, our waiter was from Milano so we shared few of our Italian experiences. The set up is mostly outside and there were few tables inside, however, it was a very nice evening, so we really enjoyed our dinner outside. Restaurant was busy, with crowd of various.
Food, win and dessert was delicious, service was impeccable and loved the ambiance.
The food is consistently delicious. Love your daily specials. Your restaurant is the only one that I don’t order the same thing every time. 🥂👏🏻
Had a reservation for outside at 8:30 and only got the table after 9. Hostess asked if we wanted a table inside and we said no we had booked outside. Then told us 3 people were paying but it still took 30 mins. Food was outstanding. Shared a burrata appetizer and each had a great tasting pasta. Got talked into the tiramisu by the server but we can honestly say it is without a doubt the worst tiramisu we have ever tasted. Had 2 spoonfuls each from different parts in case we had a bad section but no luck. Left it!
We sat at 7 and the food came at 9... Too many tables close to gether they dont follow the distance guideline... Way too crowded....unsafe and bad slow service
Great food and service. Only problem this visit was the live music. Too loud. Outside and the 4 of us had to yell at each other. Not good in a pandemic and trying to keep our droplets to ourselves. Please! be conscious of lovely music with the ability for us to converse with our friends and be able to understand what the waiter is saying from behind a mask. Loud music is not helping out with our current challenges.
Chef Erik has definitely made Oliver's Osteria one of the most sought after restaurants in Laguna Beach. His creative culinary is over the top, everything is beautifully plated and presented with classic Italian benevolence. As a restaurant columnist who knows all of the 100+ restaurants in Laguna Beach well, Oliver's is definitely in the top 5. And, with expanded patio seating into a parking lot that doesn't even look like a parking lot, it's a special treat that genuinely cares for guest and staff safety first.
Awesome food! Had to sit outside in a parking lot due to COVID so atmosphere wasn’t expected. Waiter was efficient but impersonal.
Hands down best experience in all of Laguna! Chef De Marchi and his entire staff are phenomenal! The food is beyond incredible, and the service fantastic.
e love Olivers have been back 5 times now and brought other friends each time; we enjoy your specials as well!! tks
The service was not great. Starting with the hostess and including the server. I am a long time local and was not impressed at all. We were actually joking about leaving without paying since we were ignored for so long we could have just walked out and felt as if no one would notice. The food was good except for the lasagna which was bland and similar to baby food in texture and taste. We brought friends from out of town and were very dissapointed.
This was by far the best food I have had in laguna . I had a pasta with lobster and my friend had squid ink . Both were amazing
I think they either need a bigger kitchen or less tables. Now, with Covid, there are more tables outside than they ever had inside....
Don’t go here food is underwhelming and very expensive
Genuine Italian cuisine, with a creative twist.
I went to this restaurant because of the reviews in Magazines and reviews on Yelp, but I have to say that I was disappointed. I have a culinary background from Europe. We ate the Eggplant Parmesan as an appetizer, it was lacking salt and it had way too much cheese, but it was fresh. For the main course I ate the Homemade Pasta with Veal Shank Ragu, again it was lacking salt and taste, the pasta was not overcooked, which was good. My friend ate the special which was a whole Sole with sauteed Spinach and Potatoes. The Fish was good, but overcooked, the potatoes were not crispy, and the Spinach was very bland. We asked for fresh ground pepper and salt. The server put the fresh ground pepper on our food, but the salt shaker did not work, because the weather was so humid, that it all stuck together. For dessert we had Tiramisu, which was far from desired. It did not have any Espresso taste and the Cream was way too thick.
I wanted a glass of Malbec or Merlot, which they did not have. The Sole cost $45 which was way to expensive.
You can get authentic Italien Food at North Italia in Irvine, for a much more reasonable price...or go to Il Barone Bottega in Newport Beach and they also have a much higher level or food.
Our server was a very nice person, but my friend wanted more of the Lemon Caper sauce for her fish and we had to ask him twice to bring it. By the time he brought it out, the food was cold....So I will not be going back to this restaurant.
Ciao Sima, We appreciate your feedback and thank you for your time. We are sorry to hear you didn't enjoy your experience and if you do choose to visit us again please let us know, as Chef Erik will be happy to make you a special dish. Grazie Mille, Oliver's Osteria
Food service and drink menu always outstanding
Hidden jewel !!
A slice of Italy in Laguna Beach. Great authentic Italian food. Friendly knowledgeable and accommodating staff.
Loved the Cacio e Pepe and the carpaccio with a unique twist. Great outdoor ambiance despite the weekend heat.
It is one of my favorite Italian restaurant in OC. Food and service are always good. Outdoor siting with live music from the next door restaurant ;).
This is our second time at Oliver’s during Covid and it is such a safe treat!! Perfect for date night. Does not disappoint!
Pizza was cold when dasher picked it up
Dasher mention to host that pizza was cold but they said there’s nothing they can do
Cold pizza = bad tasting pizza :((
Ciao, You must have the wrong restaurant, as we do not sell Pizza:) We would really appreciate if you could remove this review from our page. Thank you so much! Best, Oliver's Osteria
Great food and great service! Will be back!
Best Italian Restaurant in South OC! Always a nice treat with excellent service and good wine list.
Seated near a loud boisterous family is never fun Burratta too cold and the meatballs were odd. The rest was fine. Not likely to return
Can't say enough good things about Oliver's. They've done a great job converting a portion of their parking lot into outdoor seating. The food remains excellent, as is the service. Probably the best Italian fare in all of South OC. We took another couple with us last night, it was their first time. They loved it every bit as much as we do. We shared a couple of deliciously rich and unique desserts, and were pleasantly surprised at the appropriately sized portions (just enough). We left feeling satisfied, not stuffed.
The easy parking is a plus, but we'd go even if there was no parking...we'd figure it out. It's worth it!
We always enjoy the food and service at olivers. It is consistent and delicious every time. I wish I could order something other than the cacio e pepe, but I can't resist.
Food is outstanding, but the service wasn't what itshould be.
Great food and service
Service was slow. Also corkage somewhat high. $20 to $25 dollars would be more reasonable.
Amazing Food and Service! Would recommend for date night or a great family meal. Fabulous wine list also!
Even though reservations ran behind, the whole staff was extremely accommodating and even kept the kitchen open late. Food was of course outstanding.
Excellent food and service and always on a consistent basis. One of our faves. Lisa Tenner
Best meal we’ve had in a long time!! Cacio Pepe is a MUST!!!
Excellent meal. The Dover sole was perfect. Nice portions and it felt like we were eating on the piazza in Italy. Live music and great service to boot. We just found our new favorite restaurant.
Fun birthday dinner! Great food and ambiance!
Fabulous service, excellent food - every single time.
Oliver’s never disappoints and this meal was exceptional! Service was great. Overall a great dining experience and always recommend to friends and family! Thank you!
Great food and service with lots of outdoor seating. Would definitely come back!
