Oliver A Bistro Ratings and Reviews
Less than impressed this time around. I ordered a filet special, which was okay; but only that. It was cooked beyond what I requested and was one of the tougher cuts of filet I've had in a while. My wife had the rack of Lamb but was also disappointed in that it had little flavor and was cooked far too thoroughly than lamb should be.
Maybe the chef was off the night we went. Hoping for a better meal next time.
My boyfriend and I had the best burgers (jalapeño cheddar and caramelized onion) at Oliver A Bistro! We also tried the lobster mac and cheese and the soup of the day, both delicious. We were told about Oliver A Bistro by a friend and we are so happy we went, the food and the atmosphere were both amazing! We will definitely be going back again soon.
Went during the week to celebrate an early Valentines Day....the taste and quality of the food was great, however, it could have come out of the kitchen a little hotter, especially the soup. Overall it was a great meal though and I would definitely recommend dining here.
We went on burger night. I had a delicious ahi tuna steak sandwich. Others really enjoyed their turkey and regular burgers. Delicious small desserts at $2.00. Had the apple cobbler which was good, but a bit pricey at $8.50 for the size of it. All other desserts are $8.50 as well. Service was good, ambience "cute".
Service was very slow on Saturday night. It took one hour and 20 minutes for our entrees to come out after we ordered. Service was so slow that evening that we decided to skip dessert because we feared it would take too long. Our meals were good, but not as good as usual. I had the steak frites, which was tasty but I did not care for the presentation. The steak was served on top of the truffle fries with the sauce poured over the top. It was impossible to cut the steak without making a mushy mess out of the fries.
Having been many times before, we enjoyed our recent visit to Oliver Bistro even more than previous visits. The food and service were both excellent. Some highlights were the Thai Crab Salad, Steaks and always reliable Mussels/Frites. All things under consideration, i believe this is the best game in B-town.
Great burgers, awesome mac and cheese! My husband had one of the specials which was a beef pot pie. He said he was the best pot pie he ever had. It was loaded with lots of beef and vegetables in a really flaky crust. It is a BYOB place so bring a bottle and enjoy !
I really enjoyed Oliver. The food was wonderful. Full of flavor, super fresh, and simple. The truffle bruschetta was remarkable. I've been thinking about it non stop! The wait staff was perfect. Turnover of tables is important at a small eatery and they kept things moving without being pushy or hovering over the table. Top notch and will absolutely be recommending Oliver to all of Foodie friends!
Popular and fun restaurant with food choices to delight everyone. Extensive selections were creative and tasty. Noise level can be high when restaurant is full, but can still be able to be conversational. Seafood roll is delicious with Hawaiian rolls a great touch. Platters are generous. Waitress was attentive and gracious while really hustling. Overall, a lovely place to eat out with friends.
Chef Matt excels in his creations, with too many delicious options to choose from. The burger selection alone is outstanding, but don’t forget the braised short rib Mac & cheese. Staff is friendly and attentive. Couldn’t ask for a better place, especially for lunch. Dinner on the weekend takes a different turn, which I have yet to experience.
My husband and I went here for a date night. We each had the baked potato soup which was excellent. We each had a burger with fries. The fries were great, but we both felt that the burgers were overcooked and dry. This was disappointing.
Service was excellent.
This was our third time at Olivers and the food is always amazing. This time we invited our best friends from Lakewood, NJ and they absolutely loved it and said they will definitely make the trip back to Olivers! Its a small place so reservations are highly recommended.
Seasoning. That's what this meal lacked. The food wasn't bad. It just lacked punch, flare, flavor or uniqueness. To give you a few examples ... The special beef & kimchi dumpling was completely bland. The short rib mac & cheese lacked short rib and was overly loose & wet. The rack of lamb, although cooked perfectly, needed salt & spice. The truffle fries were undercooked & got soggy when served on the same plate. Overall, this could have been an exceptional meal as the menu looked amazing. Perhaps this was an off night for the chef.
