Oliver A Bistro Ratings and Reviews
The owner/chef, Matt, at Oliver A Bistro is such a creative genius in orchestrating superb dishes consistently that it's a pleasure to dine there any time or for any occasion. The waitstaff is friendly and knowledgeable about the menu, the ambiance is cozy and unique, and it's a great place to bring a friend for a new and exciting dining experience. A great bonus is the reasonable pricing for such excellent dishes. There are daily specials, an ever-changing quiche, seasonal soups and entrees, familiar comfort foods along with some adventurous offerings, and lush petit desserts for a final indulgence that won't destroy your waistline. If the weather permits, strolling down Farnsworth Avenue to visit the eclectic shops afterwards is another benefit of Bordentown's charm. Highly recommend!
Great BYOB and the BEST EVER BURGER and Fries in the area. Salad pretty amazing as well. We enjoy sitting the full window seat, however a nice mother/daughter duo we met while seated in the back did not, we noticed diners up front was finished and requested to be moved. Whatever your preference this place is a gem. MAKE A RESERVATION, be it lunch, brunch it gets full pretty quickly.
My husband and I really enjoyed our dinner. Food was delicious and filling, great portions for the price. It felt almost like comfort food. Cute restaurant and friendly staff. Our waiter was busy (seemed like there were only 3 waiters for the entire restaurant) but service was still great and food came promptly. We’d definitely recommend and would visit again!
Spending my birthday at Oliver A Bistro is a must! Our dinner with friends was simply amazing from the beginning to the end. The food from the three course menu was just incredible. We each chose something different so we could try everything. The items in the menu were locally sources and seasonal. The staff was attentive and friendly, answering all our questions.
We usually come on Tues or Wed for their amazing burger night and also their second menus where they have wings, perogies, etc. Those are the best burgers ever and not the frozen kind, many adventurous menu choices for those. This time we went on a Friday and none of those options were available so we went with a regular dinner. It was ok had cod fish and shrimp and grits between us. Service was great as always but we prefer the other menu. Their homemade from scratch desserts are to die for. Had the Harvest cake and a Lemon coconut. Outstanding. Would definitely return to this BYOB charming restaurant.
Enjoyed a Saturday evening out with friends. The soups were very good as were the entrees. I had the Pork Osso Buco and enjoyed every bite! The only unsatisfactory dish was the dumpling appetizer which I found tasteless. Overall the dinner was very good and will definitely return.
Good food as always for the most part. The steamed mussels in the Thai sauce are to die for and highly recommended. My husband had the salad with pecans and pears which he said was delicious. I had my usual shrimp and grits with garlicky greens. Greens weren't as flavorful as the last time, and there were a few lumps in my grits, but it was still good and the shrimp were tender and cooked to perfection. My husband was not as thrilled with his salmon however, and picked at pretty much everything on his plate. There isn't a huge selection on the menu on a Friday night and I thought there used to be a little more variety in years past. We had a good time just the same and appreciate the chance to dine out at Olivers.
Usually I rave about their gourmet burgers but this time I can't. I had the Barcelona burger and it was sloppy and wet. One friend had a veggie burger and said it was very mushy. Another friend had the Eastern Block burger and asked for it to be cooked well, and no pink but it was pink so she could only it around the done edges. I'd say it wasn't a good night for burgers.
I have been to Oliver's before but the rest of my group had never been so it was a fun experience for them to all be trying a new place. The service was superb, we had two people attending to us. They kept our waters filled and our table clear of dirty dishes. Those two things tend to be pet peeves when dining out. We started with some pumpkin soups, the truffle wings and guac. Highly recommend the soup. I didn't have the wings but the rest of the group did and they said they would definitely order them again. The guac was lacking some spice but that is just personal preference. We loved how the burgers had the option of being served with fries or your choice of house or caesar salad. We all opted for different burgers being that is what they're known for during the week and it was one of the burger nights. We ended the meal with desserts. The creme brulee is the best traditional style my friends and I have ever had. They actually serve it in a deep dish which is different and certainly favored now. We will definitely be returning and look forward to trying more new items off the menu.
Who knew that Bordentown had such a lovely lace to dine out? Mid week lunch was quite busy but we had excellent service from staff. The menu has such a wide variety of choices, we were hard pressed to settle. The main meal was very good and the desert also very yummy. The tables in the window area are very nice: great for people watching. The booths seemed comfortable and roomy.
Our waitress was excellent, but she rarely visited. Our waiter seemed preoccupied with other tables. Food quality was very good and tasty, however, all 4 of us ordered "medium" burgers (some pink) and all received "well done ". This was disappointing. Service was very slow. Bus staff very pleasant and attentive. Makes me wonder "where is the owner?"
Made a reservation for 5:30. We were immediately taken to the back table, closest to the kitchen. Friend asked for a cup of hot tea with milk. Brought her green tea, no milk. Had to ask for regular tea and milk again. One person took our order, another brought our food, another asked if we wanted dessert, but was unable to describe the options. Food was great....service, not so much.
