Olive or Twist

Best spot to go Pre-show! The food is delicious and the staff is great!
We went to Olive or Twist prior to a play at the Benedum. The waitress was very accomodating with making sure that we were served in enough time for our event. The food was delicious and the drinks were very good
Been going to Olive or Twist for years. Great martinis and good Happy Hour apps. Only downside was bar trivia, which should begin after the dinner crowd has gone...if at all!
We have been going to Olive or Twist for years. Sadly the rumors are true - they are under new management and the quality appears to be slipping, and the prices are rising. The steak salad that previously cost $15 is now $20, yet the steak was fatty and rubbery. Why the price increase? Although the restaurant was nearly empty our server tended to forget about us, including leaving a round of drinks on the bar for 10 mins while she sat chatting with another employee. We dearly loved attending this restaurant prior to concerts and hope this was only a one-off and not a sign of times to come...
excellent food and service, just very noisy hard to hear dinner conversation .
Drinks were absolutely awesome. I ordered two and both were well made and fresh. Appetizers were delicious, and main courses are reasonably priced which is nice! You get a lot for your buck! This place tends to be louder, so if you’re looking for a quiet intimate spot, this is more of a casual party atmosphere! Will be going again!!
Very good food and very pleasant server. We have been there many times when going to a show in downtown.
Olive Or Twist has been a regular stop for us for years. Their Calamari continues to be a favorite for us.
My wife had the salmon and loved it. I had the short rib macaroni. It was good, but tasted exactly like it was named. In other words there was really nothing special about it.
My one disappointment with this establishment is they seem to be moving away from their “Martini Bar” roots. At one time they had a wide selection of interesting martini concoctions and are now down to just several. They don’t even have Bleu Cheese stuffed olives! Basically blasphemy in the martini world.
Perhaps the day of the Martini Bar has passed...
Overall a very average experience in every aspect.
New management and staff have destroyed what used to be a fantastic restaurant. The food was below "bar food" level. The beers were warm and the martini tasted like a little pineapple juice shaken with ice. It's a shame what has happened to this restaurant. For almost a decade, we frequently enjoyed this restaurant when in town for a show, concert, or sporting event. We will not go back.
Been going there for years and I can not think of a time that I did not enjoy it. Good food, good drinks and nice people work there.
This may be our new "go-to" place before a show in the Cultural District! We've had drinks at the bar but not eaten there before. Limited menu, but really good! The "Short Ribs/Mac 'n Cheese" may have been the best M 'n C I've ever had! Bursting with deep, cheesy flavor and the short ribs on top were perfect. And, the drinks, especially my martinis, lived up to a place named for the drink...and/or the Charles Dickens novel and how coincidental can that be? And, just as importantly, served FAST, not allowed to sit on the bar, so the martini was stunningly cold when it was put down in front of me! Nice job!
We have eaten at Olive or Twist numerous times. They have a new menu, more limited entrees than the last one. My wife, daughter, and I preferred the earlier one, but over all this is a good value and a great location for the Theater District.
Love the cocktail selections. The menu changes and was really looking forward to the scallops. Had the salmon which was great. The service is always top notch, very friendly staff.
I was very surprised at how bad the food was for the amount I paid.
Olive or Twist has a limited menu but they do everything to perfection. The calamari appetizer is the best we've had in the city. The specialty drinks are out of this world.
Made a reservation online. Bar was packed when we got there. They had our table ready and seated us right away! Server was very pleasant and the service was spot on! Food and drinks excellent. Got a few happy hour specials to make us happy! Went before a show. I don’t like to eat too much before a show. Ordered salads. Perfect size! Not too big that we had to leave half behind! Happy Hour nachos were perfect for 5 to share.
Delicious food and great service!
It was so easy to make reservations!
The Olive or Twist in PIttsburgh, PA was nowhere near what was advertised online. Totally different menu . and atmosphere.
Came here before a Liberty Magic show to watch the Belmont Stakes, great location, excellent food (the pork tenderloin was to die for), awesome drink menu. We will definitely be back.
We went to dinner at Olive or Twist before a concert and got served promptly. We started with the calamari which was delicious! We also ordered the avocado Cobb salad, and it was tasty, but the avocados were not good...dusky and a bit tasteless. We ate early, so the noise level was just ramping up but not a problem while we were there. Overall, it was a decent meal with excellent service.
Always enjoy our martinis and so convenient to theatre
Aubrey was fantastic we love her so. Tell her she’s pretty thx
Food and drinks were excellent. Service was outstanding. It was really noisy. We couldn’t hear each other talk
Depending on the time and day you go, it can get loud. But it is the best place to get a drink for sure. The food is great as well and despite being busy, the wait staff is always nice and attentive as well. Highly recommend for sure.
We celebrated my best friend’s birthday by having a dinner at Olive or Twist and it was the first time being there for most of us. Nastase (please forgive me if I’m misspelling) and Aubrey were great and very attentive! They always checked in on us and made sure we were good! They even lit the candles, cut and served her birthday cake for us! We will definitely be back!
very enjoyable experience
Great venue. Excellent food and drinks.
The short ribs were delicious! Too noisy tho!
The drink menu and the food at Olive or Twist are both very good. My wife and I enjoy eating there very much. The only problem I have with the place is that it can get very loud at times. I'm not sure why this is, though I think it has something to do with the construction of the building... all concrete. I would definitely recommend eating here, but be prepared to struggle hearing the dinner conversation.
Food was good, as was the service. The noise level, however, made it almost impossible to hold a conversation. I suggest some sort of baffling on the walls and ceiling.
drinks are excellent. they have revamped and narrowed their menu options. food is okay. service was excellent!
This is a bustling place that is busy before and after cultural and sports events. We had tasty soups — French onion and creamy mushroom — as well as beer battered cod and a huge nacho plate. All was hearty and tasty.
Return trip to Olive or Twist and had another wonderful time. Perfect place for pre-show dinner and drinks. Glad we made a reservation because it was crowded with happy hour patrons.
Olive or Twist is our go-to restaurant when we have tickets to events at Heinz Hall (right across street) or the Benedum (short walk). Love the casual, warm atmosphere and have always had great food and attentive service at very reasonable prices. What's not to love?
We had dinner here before going to a concert at the Benedum. The soup and salad were excellent and the staff was very attentive. We had plenty of time to make it to the theater after thoroughly enjoying the atmosphere inside the restaurant.
The food was good and the drinks were very good. It was rather noisy for trying to carry a conversation.
We will be back.
Great food, great service. We really enjoy our visits to Olive or Twist. Highly recommend it!!
The staff, food and decor were perfect and the Bloody Mary martini was amazing!!
I enjoyed my drink. I was disappointed with small appetizer. We were told it was for three but was only for two. My dinner had very little meat and was cold. It tasted good but it was ice cold and the meat was quite fatty. For the price I expected my meal to be hot, less potatoes, and more than 2 brussel sprout bits the size of a dime especially considering it was frigid outside.
