We visited Olive and June for our 10th wedding anniversary. The menu is very inventive and offered a variety of dishes arranged by course. We split a starter course and then each ordered a dish from the remaining four courses. Everything we tasted was artfully presented and delicious. The service was outstanding as well. Our waitor was very knowledgeable about the wine and food menu and had some great recommendations. Each course came out perfectly timed and freshly prepared.
I live in the same area as restaurant and try as I might I simply cannot find anything that works. it is such a crazy menu - how it has such a high ranking is beyond me. and there are no California wines - I mean come on this is Austin, Texas. A girlfriend went with me and she has the same trouble as I do - but we thought - oh let's give it a go. Well, as usual, it's just a plain silly menu. love the location - just wish the menu was more user friendly - also not really any gluten free items listed. PLEASE change -
The food was absolutely great. Our waiter was fantastic. He knew so much about the wines. Even though I do not live in Austin I would make a special trip back just to enjoy this place again.
Olive and June was great as always. The dessert selection was a little underwhelming compared to previous visits, but they were still tasty and expertly crafted.
We had wonderful service under the tree from our waiter and the sommelier. The manager greeted us... so it was delightful that way. The menu recommendations and blending of wine and food was outstanding... we could not have been more delighted and the restaurant deserves to be higher rank then it is... a great place!
Very good dinner and pleasant atmosphere. Appetizer was skimpy (sea bass crudo) but otherwise good food and drinks and nice ambience.
Incredible dining experience! Wonderful food, service and atmosphere! We can't wait to go back!
Very friendly, helpful and attentive service. Food was great. LOVE the giant tree that the outdoor area is built around - that was probably my favorite part. :) I also liked that it was split into several different spaces - indoor, outdoor, bar area, patio, etc. I went there for a date night dinner, but would love to go back for brunch or Happy Hour!
Sunday dinner was a fair price, and came with 3 courses!
Chef Brian and the whole crew are so good at crafting the perfect meal. We always take their suggestions as to what to choose and they never let us down. Everything on the menu is fabulous.
It was good for a Monday night but got pretty noisy.
My husband and I visited this restaurant on Sunday for an early dinner. The waiter was very helpful and friendly and suggested cocktails that turned out to be delicious and perfect for the weather and the type of liquor I said I like to drink. We ordered the risotto which was superb and perfectly cooked with perfect balance of cheese and flavors that were divine. I ordered the calamari and it was flavored nicely but slightly overcooked but I would order this dish again. I also had the Quail which was stuffed with mortadella. Omg. My new favorite. I will definitely be back at this restaurant when I visit Austin. We lingered 3 hours to have another cocktail in the upstairs patio it was so relaxing.
It was perfect ! Enjoyed the evening very much! We will return!
There was a party on the top floor that made it difficult to hear or have a conversation with my date.
As for the food, the farm egg was amazing, as was the trout. However, the cauliflower was inedible.
Great couples date night, and opportunity to share this location. All was as expected, save the reduce vegetarian options. Wine list great, service superb.
As always, awesome food and service. Joe, Sommelier at Olive & June is amazing....ask him for his wine recommendations when you are there.
Truffle time boosted every dish. Attentive service and delicious food.
It was a Friday night and there were several large parties which made it a little loud. We ate outside which is usually very nice. The food was OK. I guess it was a creative menu. They had several pasta dishes which I think were good.
We had 5:30 reservation which enabled us to select from the entire menu, at happy hour 1/2 off prices. Excellent value for delicious food. The outdoor setting under the trees is very comfortable & cozy without feeling crowded..
Overall the food was delicious. Service was a little spotty as we went about ten minutes before having any type of beverage on the table. The entree selections were limited but everyone at our table enjoyed what we ordered.
Great food and service. Had the stuffed quail and it was amazing Pork sausage stuffing.
Server was very familiar with the menu and able to guide us with suggestions.
The food was just okay. The portions are unusually small and overpriced - in my opinion. The service was adequate. Our server was friendly but did not visit our table often.
We came for dinner after a Saturday theater matinee; we opted to sit inside and were seated downstairs where it stayed quiet enough to have conversation easily. Our server was excellent and very personable; every one of his recommendations were delicious, from the drinks to the dessert. We tried the arancini, burrata, ravioli, and bucatini; we finished with the zeppole. It was my dining companion's first time to try arancini, burrata, and zeppole; he raved about them all and I am glad he had such a wonderful first representation of each. Flavors were bright, distinct, and memorable for each dish we ordered; I would definitely return but be prepared to pay a pretty penny for a delicious meal!
Great food - special vegan menu and choices. Service was not attentive and slow.
After all the tourist restaurants and too much barbecue, this beautiful restaurant was a lovely escape from typical Austin food and noise. Delicious, creative Italian cooking. We enjoyed yummy homemade pasta and a wonderful stuffed veal. A real treat!
Everything was absolutely perfect! This dinner will be a family favorite for many years to come! The food, service, and atmosphere were more than we could have hoped for. It was the perfect way to celebrate at 25th birthday. I can't say thank you enough!
Service, food, wine list, price and atmosphere were all wonderful! Highly recommend!
Maybe our mistake was we went to an Italian restaurant and ordered steak and scallops. Perhaps we should have ordered pasta. Also, We don't drink, and there were only 2 of us, and our bill was almost $140, so there's that. We ordered 2 appetizers, a burrata salad and a fried cheesy ball kind of thing. Neither of which was tasty or memorable except for the blandness.
My 4 scallops, a $30 dish by the way, tasted as good (no better no worse)as any scallop I've had. Not memorable, but fine. But my poor partner ordered steak . It came out coldish, chewy and flavorless. I tasted a bite and was honestly surprised at how utterly flavorless it was. That poor cow must have not eaten good grass.
Our server was much like the food, competent, but bland. The atmosphere though is very nice. I truly wish it was better, I'd read so much hype about it, I was excited to try it
We may gi back some day and order pasta, but its gonna be a long time.
Brought my family here for dinner on Saturday. For the second straight visit, the service was very poor. It goes well until the server took our order. One of the items was wrong, later brought the wrong glass of wine which was late and unable to be enjoyed during the meal. Kids meals were brought out so far in advance of ours that they were finished for 5 minutes before ours arrived. Disappeared for long stretches of time. No apologies. My wife had to track down someone in order to pay the bill. This is becoming a trend and we likely won't be back as this indicates an issue with management and lack of attention to detail.
Ok, I heard they help to make special occasions more special however it didn’t seems like that.
Came here against my better judgment because my partner wanted to celebrate his 40th birthday at an Italian restaurant. While we were waiting for the last couple to show up the waitress kept rushing us telling us that the food would take a long time, Even though the room we were eating in was completely empty and the restaurant was not full.. She also felt it was a good time to teach us about the concept of coursing, but then brought someone’s dessert out while everyone still had entrées on the table. She was sarcastic, the pasta was mediocre and drinks were weak. She decided to divide up the bill individually and pass out everyone’s checks to them personally when it was supposed to be a birthday dinner that we all chipped in on, which made things v awkward. Will never be back.
We had a very nice meal here. Our waiter was very informative and helpful, just a great attitude. Everything we tried was very delicious. I like that you can have a conversation in here without having to shout.
I thought they had a limited menu, however I enjoyed my New York strip and my brother enjoyed his lamb. Our waitress could have been more upbeat, but maybe she was having a bad night or didn’t want to be there or maybe it was just me misreading her. In any case the food was good and the atmosphere was equally as good!
Interesting menu, great presentation. Great Italian food meets farm to table. Don't go if you're looking for spaghetti and meatballs- go if you want a food adventure.
Downstairs seating is quiet. Very noisy upstairs. Wines by the glass were a little limited.
Complimentary valet parking is helpful. All the staff were helpful and polite. Seated promptly and we were able to have an enjoyable conversation because the noise level is not out of control. The food was great. We will definitely return.
My husband and I have liked Olive & June for special occasions for a few years now, but after our last experience probably will not bother to go back again. While we had excellent service, our food fell very short of our expectations. I think we both described his risotto with shrimp and my trout plate as "just so-so". My food was oily, bland and lacked the "wow" factor dishes in the past have offered. His shrimp was bland and the rest of the dish was just off - I'm not sure how else to describe it. For the price and based on past experiences, O&J fell very short of our expectations on our much-needed date night... And considering how much competition there is in the area, we probably won't bother to go back.
Olive and June has a casually chic ambience and a welcoming neighborhood vibe. It's ideal for get-togethers with friends from out-of-town and for a very good southern Italian meal any time. The servers are friendly and knowledgeable if not consistently prompt, especially in the bar. On the whole, you cannot go wrong by dining at Olive and June.
Good food with amazing service. We were seated immediately and our waiter was fantastic. The food wasn't extraordinary but still good.
