Tasty seasonal pasta and entrees. Enjoyable wine selection. Old standards too.
I chose the restaurant for the great outdoor area under the big oak tree. A wonderful way to share a meal on a beautiful fall evening.
Great ambience and great service however the portion sizes were laughable considering the prices!
Absolutely loved this place!!! The home made ricotta that they provide with the bread is so tasty. Everything that we tried was delicious (strop steak for main, burrata, ravioli) were all amazing.
Service is attentive. Great space and good wine selection.
Looking forward to coming back to try other items in the menu.
My husband and I recently dined here for our anniversary since we were married here as well. As usual the food was divine, and the atmosphere is romantic, yet not pretentious. The chef came out a said hello since he recognized us from our wedding, which was impressive that he remembered us. Our server, Johnny, was friendly, knowledgable, and helped us plan out our meals when we were fumbling a bit. He was on point!! We really appreciated his service and will make an effort to request him in the future.
Good drinks menu but mojito made with sour mix and not enough mint. Nice whipped burrata appetizer. Mains were meh. Weird lamb leg entree with little medallions of lamb that were tougher than any lamb leg I have ever had. I was “warned” about the lamb but chewier than I expected. Limited menu. Nice dessert. Arrived during happy hour so everything was 1/2 price which is what made the experience acceptable.
I had heard a lot of Olive and June, it was an okay restaurant. Ingredients seemed fresh but portion sizes were not great for the cost and the food tasted okay, nothing noteworthy aside from the arancini. Service was less than average, dinner for 2 after being seated took 2 hours primarily because we were waiting for the staff. Although there's nothing glaringly negative, I would not recommend this place to others given the cost and time waiting to be served overpriced average food.
Good food! Had a pasta dish that the chef made vegan by taking off meat and cheese and adding veggies. Sub-5 stars cause I can eat pasta elsewhere for A LOT less than $18 (paying for stuff you aren't getting as a vegetarian/vegan). Cocktail with gin and creme de violette is super good :)
Good restaurant. We ordered the tasting menu. Good choice.
Great service. Johnny was our waitress
Have you ever seen the movie When Harry Met Sally? The scene where Harry is boasting about giving pleasure to women and is certain how he would “know” if she was faking it? Then Sally silently sits at the table just listening. They receive their food and she takes a bite...., she moans quietly until it intensifies. She’s pulling at her hair, rubbing her face, pounding the table, all while she continues moaning. Then she takes another bite of her sandwich with a smile. Leaving Harry speechless. That’s how I felt when eating at Olive and June’s.
Food was delicious & service was great! Will definitely be going back:)
The food was very good. The place is nice but last Saturday it was tooooo noisy.... when they sit a large group in the main dining area, the noise travels terrible in the building and you can't listen any word of what the person next to you is saying.
Olive and June is a bar with a restaurant attached to it. They make great use of their atmosphere and their service is spectacular.
Not sure why anyone would eat there. The food was marginal at best, over priced and very small portions. I guess Austinites think the king has clothes. What a disappointment, and to top it off the waitress was not just rude, but over the top rude. Good Luck.
I have Never had a better spaghetti dish! hand made and Perfectly al dente ! the Trout was crispy and melt in your mouth at the same time. next time I want to sit under that beautiful tree, so peaceful.
Overall, a great time - beginning to end.
What a fantastic experience we had at Olive & June! The menu, the hospitality, decor, beverages, vibe, decor... impeccable. Chubby Dog Farm
My husband and I had our son's and daughter-in-law's wedding rehearsal dinner at Olive and June almost 2 years ago and the private room was so nice. My husband and I have since been back several times just to have dinner. I love their risotto and my husband loves the steak. We also really like the cheese tray. A very nice place for a dinner date!
The setting is lovely, the food was wonderful! Our server was impatient with us and uncertain of the menu.
We sincerely enjoyed our first meal ever at Olive and June. The booths are comfy and private, the service was impeccable and the plates were all unique, tasty, fresh and presented well. Enjoyed everything.
Gourmet dining, inventive menu, impeccable service and ambience.
Jonny, our waiter, was so attentive to details and very knowledgable about the old world pastas that they have unearthed. A true history lesson on cooking!! Totally amazing!!
Good value for restaurant week! Nice wine list. Enjoyed the food and ambience. We'll be going back!
My boyfriend and I went to have a later dinner at Olive and June on our last night in town. It was so romantic and beautiful. The food and service were excellent. Luckily we were the only two guests having dinner at that time on the patio so it was quiet. They have a nice menu that’s not too big which makes it easy to decide on food.
We've been here quite a few times over the years. Service was solid - friendly and did a good job explaining the menu. But the last two times I felt like the food wasn't quite up to par. Starters were good, but the pastas just lacked some cohesiveness, didn't always make sense, just not well executed. Okay, but not what I believe this restaurant is capable of. The wine list has always been strong Italian, which like and we drink often. We had an odd interaction with the wine guy when we asked for some advice. Of the ones we inquired about, he pushed hard to try it without giving a lot of description. I wasn't convinced but accepted the recommendation because he said if we didn't like it, he'd replace it and I felt a bit pressured. Well, he was good on his word and replaced the bottle with an alternative because neither my husband nor I enjoyed it. I truly appreciate the gesture, however it made for an uncomfortable interaction and rocky start to the meal to have to send it back.
A new go-to spot. The food was excellent, and the wine list is a great selection of italian wines in all price ranges.
The cocktails were really good, but the food was ok. Not worth the price.
Excellent food and great service. The food was prepared to perfection.
The food is really interesting, a small menu with a large wine list, though not many by the glass. I had read other reviews stating that this was a good place for a special celebration meal but I found the ambience to be a bit industrial and not at all cozy. They will push a 4-course meal which is a lot of food, however they will split courses for you if you ask. The courses are not huge, but 4 is a lot (and dessert would have been 5, but they only had 3 desserts on offer, none of which sounded appealing for us). The burrata salad was a bit salty but the insulate primavera was excellent. The mussels and pasta, as well as the peach risotto, were terrific. The steak was perfectly cooked. They forgot the side dish we ordered and we were so full we told them not to bother.
I did find our waiter particularly annoying. He noted that their wine list was "expensive" and that if we did not know about wine then he would be happy to suggest pairings. We are in our 50's, he looked to be in his early 20's. Dude! We 50-something ladies know more about wine than you, and we can afford it. He also suggested we might not '"understand" some of the words on the menu and he would be glad to explain. Grazia, Dude! I studied Italian for a while and have spent time in Italy...maybe not the best idea to suggest right off the bat that I won't understand your menu, or be too timid to ask questions if I find it confusing.
This was our second visit. This restaurant is pretty good overall. The food and service were both awesome. There is a really good outdoor dining area when the heat allows comfortable seating. I recommend you give it a try!
We were sat at a spacious booth facing the garden (As other couples were), so that we might sit next to each-other and look out the window together. The food was outstanding! Our waiter was amazing: attentive, polished, knowledgeable. When we told our waiter how much we liked something, he brought our compliments right to the chef who came out to meet us. This was the best dining experience I’ve ever had in Austin. I can’t wait to go back.
Just didn't deliver in respect to the high ratings by other diners. Went for a very special occasion. For others, this may be a great spot. We had problems with service, atmosphere, and food.
Had a great time here. I’m from Kansas City and was visiting and am so glad I discovered this place! The staff was really friendly and attentive. The food and wine were also amazing. Highly recommend the meatballs and the ravioli! The cucumber and watermelon salad was also another very unique and tasty dish. Definitely would go back.
Our food and our server were fantastic. We enjoyed the creativity in each dish. Small problem was the kitchen seemed a bit slow. There was a little to much time stretched between courses. But we will definitely go again.
The good: the food was awesome. I had the steak and it was cooked perfectly. Pasta was obviously made in-house and cooked al dente. The manager brought out 2 popsicles for our daughters just to be nice, which was very considerate. Waitress was very knowledgeable of the menu.
The Not-So-Good: The place gets loud quickly, so if you want to be able to have a quiet dinner with table conversation, consider sitting outside. Service was a bit slow, not that we were in a hurry or anything. Our bottle of wine took a long time to come out, almost until our entrees came out. Waitress would disappear for long periods of time.
Overall a very good experience.
What a delight! We really enjoyed our date at Olive and June! We were given a GC a few years ago and kept trying to find a time to use it. Here we were and the time worked out... boy were we pleased. What a great time! We will be going back to enjoy the tasty food (not your usual menu items), and the quiet peaceful atmosphere.
Really wanted to leave five stars, but it became one of those situations where the food had to redeem the service.
Good pastas, interesting appetizers, pleasant, relaxed service.
Always perfecto! staff, food, parking are always excellent
