Olive and June Ratings and Reviews
Wonderful! They are not kidding about the homemade pastas. Beware the portion size though! If you are going to do the pasta as a primi, either share or ask to take home half of it (it is a meal worthy of itself), because I guarantee you won't want to fill up for the secondi/main event! I had the monkfish and it was so good. Fresh, lots of bright, complex flavors, extremely well done all around. The entire meal! We WILL be back . . . thanks!
I hosted a dinner as part of a bachelorette weekend with 8 women at Olive and June. I told them I was hosting a special occasion dinner and they set aside the back room with a long dining room table for us. It was such a nice surprise to walk into and we had an amazing waitress who talked through all our dietary restrictions with us. They were so kind and accommodating and the food was amazing! I'm so glad to have picked this restaurant and would recommend it to anyone who asked!
Another satisfying meal! The root vegetable salad was subtle; perfect balance between the richness of the vegetables and lightness of greens. The bucatini with guanciale was sublime; very al dente pasta with just enough porky richness to turn this dish into a luxury. Finally the red snapper was perfectly cooked, however the dish was disappointing. The kale was drenched with what tasted like brown butter, rendering it inedible and the fish portion was somewhat too small.
The banquettes on the second floor are roomy and comfortable but the room can use some updating. It's dull.
O&J is consistently good, just wish they would up their game a bit.
My friends and I were given high quality service. We stuck mostly with appetizers since there were little options on the menu for a vegetarian. However, the cheese board is amazing and the bruschetta-like appetizer was excellent as were the specialty cocktails. The downer was the tiramisu. It was oddly plated and it looked gross. The taste was bad because the best part about tiramisu is that by layering all the ingredients they then have time to soak and create a magnificent delight. Not so in this case since things were dolloped on the plate. From the looks of it, they weren’t expecting anyone to order it, therefore it was something they threw quickly on a plate. I will say that the scoop of ice cream that came with it was very tasty. I would recommend this place to friends and family that are non-vegetarian and just advise them to stay away from the tiramisu. I scored low on the atmosphere because of the plastic bubble we had to dine in. My friend arrived early so that was the choice made instead of dining inside which from the view inside the bubble inside looked like it was divine. I also had requested outside on Open Table due to all the wonderful things I heard about the large oak tree and lighting, but in winter time you get the bubble.
Thanks for allowing feedback!
Great meal at Olive and June!
The cheese board was outstanding...a great selection. The polenta and mushroom dish was creamy and delicious. The pasta bolognese special was very, very good.
The pomegranate margarita was soooo good.
Our server was attentive and really knew the menu well.
We will definitely return. Soon!
Olive and June is one of those nice places that manages an elegant experience without feeling fussy or overwrought. You won't feel guilty about splashing out for the nice wine or the multiple courses. The desserts are an especial wonderland of creativity and flavors.
Great service. Food not quite what we were expecting but good. Got the Special Sunday dinner price fix for 3 courses. Good value. 2nd floor near bar was quiet for conversation. But cold. Old vinyl flooring should be replaced. Not very appetizing. Would go back for happy hour appetizers and special.
The menu seems small however there appeared to be one or two items for most palates. Everything is ala carte so if you pair a main with a side and a salad the dinner becomes quite expensive. The wine selection was good and different.
Most menu items were really fresh, creatively blended and presentation was good as well.
All of the staff from the valet guy, the food runners, and our server were knowledgeable about the menu and professional. Our server gave us a bit too much personal information but all of our food and beverages were ordered and showed up. He sort of forgot about us towards the end and when desserts came for the table, he forgot about the coffees that were ordered. When we reminded him of the coffees, he forgot about the cream and sugar to go with it. And he seemed to forget we needed to pay as well. All in all though, the pasta was FRESH, the salads were flavorful, the quail was really good. I recommend passing on the steak as it was pretty chewy.
Great overall experience. Our waiter was fantastic and even apologized for not being attentive enough even though he was much better than our typical experiences. The food was very good and while I'm not sure I'd call it true Southern Italian, it was a good mix of farm to table with hearty Southern Italian fare.
I already spoke about this but I have dined here many times and the food was lackluster, compared to my other experiences. It was under salted (specifically the farm egg polenta dish), the grilled octopus was so overcooked that the "char" taste did not leave our mouth and the wild boar was really one noted, did not have any depth of flavor.
I absolutely loved the look of Olive and June, such beautiful white lights throughout the trees and it almost looked like a romantic little tree house. The food was wonderful as well and cocktails were delicious. I would definitely go back and recommend this place to friends.
Very slow service after explaining to waiter we had a large group and wanted to order some appetizers immediately (business meeting). Didn't bring my entre and notified him. Said he would remove charge from bill - never did. Dropped $1200 on the meal and didn't want to cause a commotion in front of my clients.
Olive & June is one of our favorite restaurants. The staff - at the bar and in the dining room - are friendly and extremely knowledgeable. Cocktails are a must - especially the seasonal specialty drinks - and the food never disappoints. Seriously, I want The Farm Egg every day!
I tried Olive & June for the first time with a friend for happy hour. We both had cocktails and split the cheese and salumi platters...and paid $15 each. High quality, inventive, seasonal cocktails and wonderful appetizers to share - I highly recommend Olive & June for happy hour.
We were told that this place was top notch. The appetizer was pretty damn good. Everything that followed was ok. Overpriced if you ask me. We went to salty sow the night before and spent almost 100 less and it was so much better! My wife and her friend became pretty sick from eating the steak at olive and June. My wife reached out to olive and June to let them know and she has yet to receive a response. My thoughts are, decent food that’s overpriced. 3 stars in my book.
The food was all fantastic except for one pasta dish which came out half cold - to the restaurant's credit, they offered to remake the dish but this was 5-10 minutes after it was served and my son didn't want to wait longer :) They offered free desserts to us to compensate - very fair. The vegetarian crostini and risotto of the day (charred acorn squash and charred pumpkin...) were both outstanding. Service was a little chatty and not the usual unobtrusive service we are used to there. She was perfectly pleasant but it felt a bit like being in a chain restaurant: "HI!! I'm JANE and I'll be your SERVER tonight!!!!" Maybe just dialnit back a bit and don't interrupt us all the time. Probably new to this type of dining, I'm guessing.
Terrible. Food. Service. As someone who has worked front of house and back of house fine-dining for over a decade, I tend to cut a lot of slack. However, this experience was inexcusably bad.
Fritto misto was good, but why cauliflower and broccoli? Cheap filler. Very obvious. Courses were rushed. The bucatini was very undercooked/ not al dente. Raw. The tiramisu was nothing like tiramisu. It was a dense brownie with some dollops of cream. Expensive. Sub par. It’s obvious the kitchen has had some recent turnover.
The server was inattentive and had an attitude of indifference. Forget the details like pouring our wine, fresh silverware for courses, etc. It was obvious that she was trying to turn us. She brought the check before even offering dessert menus. We had to ask for our food ToGo twice. Then we had to ask for a bag.
