The food was good but the service slow and the attitude of the hostess poor. Plus we were dining on a Friday night and I was shocked at the way the hostess was dressed. Based on the price point of the food, I would expect more from an upscale restaurant.

Haven’t been there in a while and the experience was pretty disappointing. We had the Mezzaluna (a butternut ravioli) and the Agnolotti pasta—neither were very good. The Mezzaluna was cloyingly sweet and the Agnolotti somewhat undercooked and utterly lacking in complexity. The server seemed to struggle with only a few tables and at one point I got up to get my own salad plate. I’ve had good meals here before, but this wasn’t one of them.

We went for a top notch fine dining experience for New Years Eve. We got a rushed, overpriced, poor experience.

From the moment we didn’t order the wine pairings, I got this feeling the waitress wasn’t thrilled to be waiting on our table of two. The meal was $95/person without tax or tip.

She forgot to bring our first course until I asked for it as we were having what was supposed to be our third course. She initially had no idea what I was talking about until I repeated myself multiple times.

That third course (which came second) came out waaaaay too fast, as we were still eating the prior course. So by the time we got to it , it wasn’t hot. Everything felt rushed.

When they brought out our main courses just as we were starting our lukewarm prior course that had been sitting, we had them take them back.

None of our food was particularly good, though it was okay. The waitress had a strange attitude about her all night.

It felt like she was working there because she was related to the owner. It didn’t feel like we were being served, but that she was just going through the motions.

We had such high hopes for this restaurant as part of our honeymoon trip. It was the most expensive and least impressive meal of our trip.

Started out good Menu is designed to serve no more than two. First only had two portions with three at the table. Second course was served to another table then picked up after the server walked away and came back to serve to our table. Lack of seasoning on portion of courses. Kitchen and server forgot a portion of the meal that described on the menu came to the table after the dessert was served. Dessert was not enough to be served for three people. Again when stated as one per table think that was designed as two people not the three had Judged this based on observation of what to tables around us that only had two people. Service was a little quick almost rushed. For a $95 a person meal was rather disappointed as Chef for 25 years not empressed.

We've had many "WOW!!" meals, moments and great service at Olive and June over the years, so our expectations are always high, but unfortunately, our New Year's Eve 2019 meal will not go down on record as one our finest at Olive and June...
The GOOD: A quiet corner table in the joyfully decorated wintery wonderland-like cozy patio tent with just the right amount of toasty portable heater heating. Peaceful, laid-back ambiance on a chilly winter evening and quiet conversation! Our server was pleasant, knowledgeable and helpful throughout the evening as were the expediters delivering each course... Thank you!
The UNDERWHELMING: A fixed menu with uninspired choices and small portions. The highlights are easy: A short rib Ravioli that was outstanding in portion size and flavor combination, and a mushroom risotto that was spot on with texture and flavor... The black-eyed peas and cornbread crumble was a generous and tasty surprise. However, a soaring triple desert finish with lighter than air, melt in your mouth chocolate semifreddo and sweet, light, tangy smooth lemon creme and fruit, simply crashed when it came to the blah hazelnut apple torte with a tiny portion of poached apples on the side... The grilled radicchio and romaine salad lacked the full compliment of ingredients promised from the menu, and was too bitter to finish.
A bold, flavorful bed of amazingly seasoned red sauce couldn't save the sad, under-cooked, tough eggplant parmigiana steak, the toasted basil evidently DOA. The size of the dinner plate overwhelmed the tiny poached halibut portion, and the flavors simply weren't present either.
So much value and potential squandered from a menu that should've promised and delivered on a fine and memorable dining experience to end the year and decade while breaking future culinary ground at Olive and June in 2020 and beyond! Leaving a special event meal like this with mixed feelings about the value and experience is simply unsatisfying and disappointing.

Loved the food. All excellent. Probably would go back for the food, but this was an anniversary dinner. I expected a little for formal ambiance, maybe a little quieter. For our 44th we got a little dressed up as well. But we ended up sitting at a table next to the kitchen, next to a couple guys in shorts and tees. Probably my bad, but not recommended if your looking for a little something more formal. No complaints about the food tho. Also side note..they don’t have champagne (only Prosecco), and wine list is limited to Italian’s. I like Italian’s, but the list is limited. Anyway, it was fine, but gotta say slightly disappointed overall.

Service was good. No issues there. The food was absolutely disappointing. The only decent dish was the polenta appetizer. My 17 year old daughter had the risotto. She said it had no taste. Meh. My 18 year old daughter ordered bucatini. She said the sauce was not balanced and was way too acidic. That is such a simple thing to accomplish. My wife ordered the kale lasagna. Equally unimpressed. The cheese sauce was milky and again no taste. Our waiter talked me into the Saltimbocca which I actually expressed concern on the difficulty of execution before I ordered. He assured me it was the best dish on the menu. Massive disappointment and more dry and salty than I imagined. They used German/Austrian speck (bacon) which I can understand why they might choose it if one thinks of the Dolomites part of Italy near the Austrian border. I can’t understand the 4+ star rating. Perhaps hanging out outside on the patio, drinking and having appetizers is the way to go?

Went for the special Hanukkah dinner. Apart from the matzo balls, which were far too hard and dense (instead of airy and fluffy to soak up the soup broth), the food was excellent. Unfortunately, the service was awkward, forgetful and lacking. The atmosphere was strangely quiet, and then we realized there was no music playing. We could clearly hear the conversations at the tables around us (and vice versa). When we brought this odd quietness and lack of music to our server, he responded well, immediately and appropriately, however. He had almost an epiphany when we mentioned it and seemed rightfully irritated with the colleague of his who dropped the ball. Would go back to see if they ironed out some of these issues.

Food and Service was amazing! We just moved to Austin and we had this on our list. We were running late - I called the host to let her know. She said it was no problem. The manager ended up seating us when we got there. We told him our story and he ensured we got to try their dessert. This is hospitality y’all. Our waitress was amazing! She was busy but was on her game! She was working patio on 12/6. Wish we got her name! Please praise her. Order the truffle risotto with scallops! Thanks for the hospitality!

We had Friday night reservations at 5:30 and when we arrived the restaurant we pretty empty. It was just my husband and myself (no kids). For some strange reason we were seated upstairs alongside 3 separate groups of families with young children. I understand if a restaurant is busy that we get what we get as far seating goes but come on, don’t put a couple obliviously on a date night sans children next to families with young crying kids. We did ask to be reseated and we were given a table downstairs in a very empty first floor.

As far a the food, meh. For the price I was expecting more than 5 stuffed raviolis on my plate. It was all just ok. Not worth the drive from up north. Speaking of North...it is hands down better homemade pasta. I know its a chain, but it’s delicious every time! Always fresh and the value is not even close to Olive and June.

Probably won’t be back for both of the reasons stated above

We had about seven different service people who said they would "take care" of our table of 3. Some of those we never saw again, and those we did definitely did not take care of us. Though we told at least three employees that one of us is a vegetarian, that information was not shared with whoever should have known to please not bring that person a salad with slabs of pork on top. The many service people seemed to be in a rush and perfected the "Is Everything Wonderful?" walking query without meeting anyone's eye or slowing down, lest someone manage to deliver a question or request (like - can we order now?) One of the 3 delivered dishes was wrong (lamb is not like shrimp), so after waiting kind of a long time, we waited longer to start eating. We all felt like we were bothering the service employees (don't know what to call them - "waiters" seems wrong). The food was good, the people are nice, and I want O&J to do better. Oh - when reserving or table we were asked whether there was any special occasion - yes, 2 birthdays. No recognition. Yes, we are grownups and don't require a party with a donkey, but why ask if you can't even say Happy Birthday when we walk in? Y'all can do better.

There are many reasons I do not recommend your restaraunt. We were greeted and welcomed nicely.
Our waitress was wearing a dirty shirt.
I ordered the Angolatti. It was described as small ravioli like noodles filled with mushrooms. It was overcooked, because, the mushrooms were not inside of the 'pillow like' raviolis, they were all about the bowl. The sauce was bland. I think of garlic and Italian spices when I think of pasta and I didn't detect any.
The thing most common with my meal was salt. I felt like a snail. Im not sure there was any salt in the kitchen, it was all in my meal. It was very loud and there were only 2 other tables. I will not recommend this restaraunt nor will I return.

Food is always divine. Good wine selection and staff was pretty knowledgeable about it, helping make a selection for our dishes which were totally different in flavor profiles. Salad was ordered to share but was served on one plate with no smaller plates for us to eat off and no serving utensil for the salad. Considering it was pre-dressed it was a little slick to work with and picking up the plate to slide on the small plates we requested was less than ideal. All in all I will always go back.

A couple of months ago I met a friend at Olive and June for a glass of wine and the menu looked really good so I was looking forward to coming back to try it out and recommended it to a friend for dinner Saturday night. When I arrived, the parking lot was quite empty yet I was forced to use the "free" valet parking which as we all know is never really free. We were seated upstairs which was great because folks downstairs were having a really good time and it was a little loud. My friend and I had things we needed to discuss so the quieter upstairs worked out nicely. I ordered a Cosmo which was way way way too tart and I had to wait quite some time to get it. Then had to wait quite some time to get some simple syrup to tone down the overwhelming lime. I ordered the fritto misto and we both ordered a caesar salad. Both were very very disappointing. The Caesar cost $12 but there was barely enough lettuce to qualify as a small dinner salad and the dressing was not very good at all. The fritto misto was soggy and covered with a dressed arugula which made it even soggier. We left most of our food on the plates and left after that first drink. Very disappointing and embarrassed that I took my friend there.

We went to Olive & June for my boyfriend’s 26th birthday this past weekend. Our reservation was at 7pm. We used the complimentary valet which was great!

We were seated outside on a pretty chilly night, but the heaters made it comfortable. The only downside of our entire dinner was the service. We didn’t have a server for about 20 minutes. We had to ask someone who was working an event to see about getting us a server. She was so nice and went ahead to take our drink orders, but we weren’t greeted by our waitress for another 10 minutes. I was truly not impressed and considered asking for a different waiter. I’ve worked as a server before, so I try to be understanding, but this was unacceptable. She barely checked in on us and made a special birthday dinner not so special.

For the price of the food and the reputation of Olive & June, I expected impeccable service. The food was good, but I can get good food with exceptional service plenty of other places in Austin...might be back, but probably not.

We typically have a 4-5 star experience here. Last Friday though service was extremely slow. It took us 2.75 hours to get out of there...more than twice the normal time. That was the only issue.
