Great Italian food. Warm toasted bread with a clove of roasted garlic; great appetizer and strong main dishes.
It was great!
I feel like the servers don’t really care about being proactive. We ordered wine with dinner and it took 25 minutes to get it. We had to ask for water 3 times. Then we ordered a couple of sides with our pasta and I’m sure the server forgot to put them in. We were almost done with our pasta before they arrived. If the server would have just admitted she forgot and apologized it wouldn’t have been a big deal but she tried to play it off. The food and wine were both very good and it seemed other people were having a good experience with other servers. I’m going to play it off that she as having a bad day and I will give them a second chance.
My wife and I went to this restaurant for our Valentine’s Day date. Olio’s has a very modern design with a very comfortable feel. The staff were incredibly warm and accommodating. We were very impressed to find a sommelier to acquaint us with the extensive wine menu. The food was incredibly delicious and elaborately presented on each dish. We will absolutely be returning for another date night!
We went to Olio for the first time on Saturday for a Valentine’s double date with my boyfriend’s parents. The server was fantastic and was able to speak in detail about the menu. We ordered a bottle of Cabernet Franc which is hard to find in Cincinnati. It was delicious. For my meal, I started with the carpaccio which was absolutely delightful. My entree was the short rib agnolotti. I can’t say enough about the flavor! The dish was OUTSTANDING!!!! My boyfriend and his mother had the lobster risotto. Served with a presentation befitting of the coming spring, the taste was as gorgeous as the purple flowers that garnished it! Our evening was simply wonderful. The wine, the service, the food and the ambiance made for a PERFECT Valentine’s. We will be back!!!!! I can’t say enough about our experience! Everyone needs to try Olio!
Loved it! Food was delicious we shared an appetizer, salad and two entrees. Don’t expect huge portions but you will not leave hungry. We’ll be back!
The food was fantastic. Ambiance was great very low key and can carry on a conversation. Will definitely eat there again.
Fantastic Italian food. Great atmosphere. Rivals any Italian restaurant in the city.
Not sure why the ratings aren’t better overall. The setting and music is outstanding. The food was GREAT and we were shocked by our final bill with how little it cost. I suggest to get 1 thing in each category and ask them to split the plate between you and another person. You end up with 5 courses with plenty of food and it’s all outstanding. Can’t wait to go back!!
Good food, service was not great - our server lacked experience, struggled with basic food allergies, and seemed to be aloof.
Service, food, and ambiance were all amazing!
What a delightful experience! We came very early for Valentine's Day so maybe we had a bit more kid-glove treatment than the norm. I'd like to think not.
We split an arugula salad - yum. I had the house pasta and my husband had the grilled salmon. Both were excellent. We'll be back and just hope they can keep up their game.
It was amazing!! The food was spectacular and the staff were friendly, professional and incredibly knowledgeable!!
I continue to be impressed with the food and service at Olio. If you have been there and weren't wowed, GO BACK! I think they have a new chef and the food was even better. The service was excellent and the sommelier picked an excellent wine for us. We will be back!
Wade went above and beyond this evening. He made great food recommendations. I said none of the wine names meant anything to me... “Let me get you some samples so you can pick one!” That made that easy. The entrees were delicious; especially the sheep milk ravioli. Was cool getting the quick run down on what makes the olive washed martinis what they are. [They are very good, by the way] Polished the evening off with a dessert. The lemon gelato with graham cracker crust was perfect size and refreshing finish to great meal. This was the second time dining at Olio - Easily our favorite restaurant in Cincinnati right now with the unique menu that I can’t say I’ve really seen anywhere else.
I had the distinct impression I was keeping the bartender from something more important. If you're charging that much for drinks you need to provide an experience I can't replicate that home. The restaurant wasn't much better in terms of service coordination. There are major things to fix or we'll have a vacancy by the theater.
Great service. Bus boy was an exceptional good conversationalist. Waitress was very knowledgeable on menu items and very helpful in making final selections
Overall the food was good but not great. The arulgala salad was delicious, but the lasagne had an odd flavor and very little sauce on it. For $28!!! the lasagne was not bad, but certainly not great. There was an odd spice to the noodle that tasted like cinnamon. It wasn’t bad, just different, and unfortunately not great.
The restaurant space was beautiful and the service was great. We went on a Tuesday night and aside from one or two other tables the restaurant was empty.
Overall it was a good experience, and one I’d recommend others to try. For me, I most likely won’t be back just due to the overpriced menu. If I want good Italian food in the Kenwood area I’ll stick with Ferrari’s.
The ambience was great, the server was very nice. The food was good but 3 out of 4 main courses were too salty. I would try it again before writing it off.
Great food and knowledge staff. We will be back.
It was our first visit and our party of 4 was on time for 6pm reservation. We were seated promptly, but did not get entres for 1 hour, 20 minutes. Was not particularly busy and there was ample (bordering on too many) wait staff. Entres were luke warm upon arrival. Was offered only a simple "sorry" from the server. For the price and service, we would have expected a visit from the manager at the very least. We'll give it one more chance, but that's all.
Cozy atmosphere, quiet enough to really enjoy a conversation, wonderful food.
We had a terrible experience. The food was delicious as always, but the staff was less than great. Even after speaking with the manager he told me next time to make a reservation... which we did. I will be shocked if this restaurant stays open long with the lack of friendliness and service.
Thanks for sharing your feedback. We’re sorry your experience didn’t match your expectations. It was an uncommon instance and we’ll do better. Please feel free reach out to hello@olio-italian with any further comments, concerns, or suggestions you wish to share. We would love to make things right if you give us another chance.
The lasagne sauce was not good and I could not taste or see the meat in the sauce. The roasted chicken was very small. The beef cappacio appetizer was very good.
Not bad, not great. I wouldn’t rush back.
Such an enjoyable evening, as always! A true Italian dining experience.
My pasta was delicious and our server was very prompt and courteous. The interior is well done and nicely appointed. I got the signature pasta, which is just basically a spaghetti type noodle with the house red sauce. The portion size was literally as big as a fist for $18. Now, I understand this is not the Cheesecake Factory and I did not expect a gigantic plate of food... But, I do feel like the portion size was *extremely* tiny for the price. We also got two appetizers and a salad. My husband got the roasted chicken, which was also extremely tiny and according to him, dry. The location is great and I'm in the area all the time but, unfortunately, I don't think we'll be going back.
Service was adequate but never seemed truly engaged even though we were one of only three or four tables. Burratta with bacon was tasty but inexplicably arrived with two intact strips of bacon crisscrossed atop it, requiring the diners to cut it up. Made little sense and did not appreciably add to presentation. Lasagna was very tasty and plentiful although I would have preferred the ricotta cooked in the dish rather than spooned atop it. Carbonara should be silky yolk sauce but this was a coagulated mess with no egg flavor. I suspect it was done before the rest of the food. Cauliflower appetizer was delicious but got kind of oily further down. Tiramisu was just a few cookies in coffee flavored creme englaise.
Olio can be great with continued tweaking if they will do it. Just not quite there yet - I hope they make it as I think there is a lot to like there.
Food and service were outstanding. Our waiter was very knowledgeable about the menu . I will definitely recommend this restaurant.
Lackluster food and service. Will not be back.
Six of us went for our holiday party. We had reservations on a Tuesday at 6:15 and were sat quickly, however, there was literally only one server for the entire restaurant so we didn't order food until almost 7:00. Overall the food quality and drinks were very good. As far as value it was average. Three people had the manicotti and commented that it was just "ok". I had the poorly cut pasta which was very good. This evening would have been very nice except the server was on an island. It wasn't her fault as she apologized multiple times for the wait, but management needed to step up and help out more and that didn't happen. We probably won't go back.
Our 2nd time at this restaurant since they opened. It is a beautiful space, nice for an evening out. The menu seems very authentic compared to food we have eaten in Italy in the past. Nice wine list also. The quality was really good and we had a delicious meal. Thanks!
2nd time here, loved everything again. Outstanding food
The prices are a little high. The service was great. We loved the ambiance. We should have been more daring, the mozzarella and tomatoes salad was plain. The short rib agnolotti was outstanding. The baked rigatoni was not great. The only bad thing was they are located in Kenwood Towne Centre by the Envision Cinemas Kenwood and the restaurant's signage is nearly non-existent. Next time I'm going to ask why the king crab is angry and why the pasta, truffle, port reduction, parmesan is poorly cut (like you really care). We're definitely going to give them another shot.
Branzini fish was described as Mediterranean Sea bass but was served very thin and disappointing. Also split rigatoni with another and also was disappointed. The flavoring of both missed the mark by far. Other diners enjoyed ravioli and crab pasta but I left most of my choices on my plate
I have eaten here several times. Have had a great meal everytime. The service has been exceptional. Don't forget that they are also open for lunch. Nice way to stay away from the mall traffic. Highly recommend.
Overall the food was good. It was a bit pricey for what it was. The only odd thing about the service that was odd was the wine glasses. When we arrived there were 4 glasses total, two each if different kinds. They took away one of each and then served the wine in what was on the table. One was a cordial glass, the other was more of a pousse cafe glass. Granted I can drink wine out of anything, but it seemed weird for a restaurant to miss that type of detail.
Every food item that we ordered was excellent - well prepared and delicious. Our server was attentive and able to answer all of our questions. This restaurant is a gem that we'll be back to again!
Absolute perfection. It was my birthday and I specifically picked Olio. It is truly a Cincinnati masterpiece. We ordered a combination of items and everything was so incredible.
Pricey; food is good but not spectacular; beautiful facility; great service
