Olea Newport Beach
OLEA, named for a genus of trees that flourish in warm and tropical regions and scheduled to open by year’s end, will be a European twist on the Napa/Sonoma-inspired cuisine and spirits at Vine, the restaurant Bendel assumed ownership of four years ago.
First impression wasn't very great with a seating time 15 minutes past my reservation, however, when we were seated the service was very impressive! We were well taken care of and the waiter was very friendly. Ambiance is nice with a central bar to anchor the restaurant. The logs on the roof is a nice touch to hide the pipes. Food is great but nothing to die for (which is still a good thing). I'd go back.
Very loud and mediocre food. Would not go back. So many other places to choose from that are far superior.
50 characters couldn’t do this restaurant justice. If you want to taste the most amazing cuisine in the perfect setting, then OLEA is for you. I live 2 hours away and will definitely be back!
My wife and I went here on a Friday evening at the urging of some friends. It was very good. Cool ambiance. Our server was excellent. The fresh oysters were great and so was the butter lettuce salad. The salmon entree could have been taken off the grill a minute earlier. It was a bit dry. Otherwise an outstanding place. P.S. The outdoor sign doesn’t quite fit the style of the place. If I was the owner I’d get it redesigned.
The service is outstanding without being overbearing! The food preparation was delicious.
Quality food, good atmosphere, pleasant service. We enjoyed our family early evening.
Food excellent -- including the special soft shell crab and the agnolotti pasta and the halibut cheeks and rib specials. Did not seem to have enough help to bus tables after appetizers and after entrees. Brought our own Kosta Brown Pinot and did not have dessert. Very crowded, even at 5:30 pm so it is quite energetic.
The service was very good and the food was excellent. However the noise level from the bar was terrible.Evidently this is the place to go to BAR and diners have to put up with the noise. None of my friends would appreciate the NOISE.What a shame the wise level is so great.
My husband & I went there to celebrate our anniversary. They made everything so special, the server was very friendly & checked in on us periodically. We had several yummy appetizers, our fav was the brussel sprouts. Our main entree was the Chilean sea bass, it was so delish, it melted in our mouths. We'll definitely go back again & tell our family and friends!
Olea is a great spot in our neighborhood. Nice atmosphere and good food. Customer service has always been great, but there were a couple hiccups this time around. Our waitress was very nice and attentive, but talked so darn fast when we were discussing the menu and explaining specials. For some reason, the wait staff kept trying to take our food before we were done. This happened at each course. Maybe this is just a lack of training, but it’s important for the staff to be observant before asking to remove a plate. It can make a guest feel unwelcome or rushed. Aside from that, our experience was enjoyable. I want to make sure this neighborhood gem stays a gem!
Absolutely love this place! Food is very good. I’d recommend the soup of the day. No matter the soup it is always great!
The restaurant is very well run for a new restaurant. It has an upbeat homey vibe. We had to wait for our table but we didn't feel neglected. the appetizers we had were amazing. the rocket salad and roasted carrots were great. My husbands steak was perfect but my halibut was dry, dry , dry thus the 4 star. Nice to have a new restaurant in town!
It was our first visit for a special Birthday celebration - it was great! We will be returning. :)
In a word: repeat!! Our first time there. We were blown away. Service phenomenal. Flavors spectacular. Vibe cool. This place has all the right stuff.
Fantastic as always. All three locations are always spectacular. The owners really know what they’re doing and are frequently, if not always, on the floor during busy hours to make sure the guest experience is the first priority. 10/10 would recommend!
Another great meal at Olea! We love walking to this fun neighborhood eatery. Great service and ambiance.
Wonderful daily specials. Fun cocktails.
Will be back again soon.
I arrived for a business dinner. Small, neighborhood type restaurant. Very clean with a nice bar in the center of the space. I sat at the bar since I arrived ahead of the group. Inga and Mark were behind the bar (very friendly - introduced themselves). Inga took my drink order and we chatted about the menu. She was sensational - very knowledgeable and made some excellent suggestions. We ended up staying at the bar for dinner since Inga was so personable. Starter was duck wings in a chili sauce. The duck wings were phenomenal! I had Kurobuta Pork Short Ribs. Great choice. The sauce was delicious. The grilled brussel sprouts were very good. I will be returning with my wife. Kudo's to a well executed menu and outstanding service.
Starter dishes seem to be their go to. Great selection of starter/shareable dishes. Larger quantity then most places, but also very tasty. The main entrees were disappointing. Ribeye looked great, but had way too much fat and the taste was just so-so. Same with the short ribs. Looked great, but lacked any flavor other then the sauce. Service was excellent though. Nice team approach
Super interesting flavor combos and variety on the menu. Delicious food and great service!
The service, food and drinks were outstanding, I can’t wait to come back
My HOME AWAY FROM HOME for every reason you go out on a Saturday night for❣️‼️ PRIMO spot, staff, food, cocktails and ambiance 💗
Fantastic food and service. Atmosphere is casual and staff is very friendly and attentive.
Great vibe in this place. We sat at the bar and had a great experience. We will definitely refer our friend's and we will be going back as well. The duck wings were out of this world.
This was our first visit to Olea and went on a double date. We started with Blue Crab Baked Oysters which were AMAZING! As a main meal, the guys ordered Rib Eye and the girls ordered Mediterranean Sea Bass and Halibut. All the dishes were prepared really well and very generous portions. The Rib Eye was delicious. For dessert, we had the Fruit Cobbler with Oatmeal Crumble and the Chocolate Chunk & Cookies, they were both Delicious! We had great service throughout and the ambiance was really nice for a date night.
The food is fantastic and the servers are all extraordinary. I had the Alaskan halibut which was outstanding. Their wine list is incredible and Kevin, the manager is very knowledgeable about wine as is the owner. A very fun place.
This place is amazing every time. Farm fresh food The best craft cocktails from incredible mixologist
A wonderful evening!
Celebrating my husbands 70th birthday with family, we chose to seat on the patio.
Everyone enjoyed the atmosphere and the food was outstanding great presentation and very generous size portions .
We were not rushed it was relaxing and our waitress Diana was perfect.
Can't wait to return !
Thanks to the staff and chef .
Loved it but so noisy that couldn’t hear the waiter or have good conversation.
Amazing! Amazing! Amazing! From the moment we walked in we were greeted with Friendly Smiles. We were a bit activated because we had to drive in traffic for about two hours and I had to keep pushing my reservation. But they held it with no problems and they satisfy immediately and took care of us the entire time. The food was spectacular. The reason I even showed up was because someone showed me a picture of this amazing and I was like I need that. I can't say enough nice things about this place
As usual, a wonderful dining experience. Great food (we had the mushroom salad, salmon and smoked trout cakes. Creative drinks. Above all, the service is extraordinary.
The table was perfect and our waiter, Brian, is fantastic! He has knowledge of all dishes and an engaging personality? The food never fails to amaze my taste buds and I love the presentation!
Love it there! It's our go-to place in the neighborhood!
Olea is a neighborhood gem! If you are going there for the first time, make a reservation for a Monday thru Thursday evening and request patio / outside seating. (they have outdoor heaters).
You will love this restaurant, their food, and the ambiance.
Always great food and service. Fish cakes were amazing , loved the Smokey flavor!
Always a great place for a special dinner.
Great food, excellent service we will be back. Looking forward to dining on the patio as well.
Olea is always a wonderful experience, even when the entire block is blacked out! The electricity went out right before we ordered. Every business in the area was with out electricity.
The server, manager and even the owners came over to let us know the situation and what we could order due to no electricity. The ambiance of candles was wonderful. No one seemed to leave we all just enjoyed drinks and ordered salads. Which were excellent.
You really know it’s a stellar place when things go wrong and they do everything right. Funny thing is the electricity went back on as we left. 😂
We will be back soon. As Olea is our place to go for great service, excellent food and a wonderful evening no matter what. ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Staff was attentive. Food was very good! I look forward to returning.
Great environment, fantastic food and tremendous service.
We took my family Out to Olea for my dad’s 80th birthday. Everything was perfect. The food was delicious and the portions generous. Service was attentive without being overbearing. Our water glasses were never empty. We were seated on the patio but the heat lamps were strong enough that no was chilly.
