Old Vinings Inn Ratings and Reviews
My partner and I had the opportunity to have Thanksgiving Diner at the Old Vinings Inn, and it was great. Service and food were spot on. Last year we went to a place on the River for their buffet and were extremely disappointed, so this year we wanted to try another place. I will tell you we were not disappointed and they did not offer a huge buffet like others places just focused on the basics and nail it. If you want a huge menu this is not your place, but if you want a good solid menu with quality food, and great service then the Old Vinings Inn is your place.
I went to the Vinings Inn for Thanksgiving. Typically the INN is one of my favorite spots in Vinings. Thanksgiving Day was very busy, staffed seemed rushed. It was Buffet service only and they are not set up for that type of service. Buffet was poorly maintained from a quality and sanitation perspective. The buffet did not reflect the $55.00 price tag.
I have been at this restaurant three years ago for Thanksgiving with a friend. This year I brought my Son. Three years ago the dinner was delicious with a variety of food and entrée choices and great appetizers and desserts . Coming here in 2017 there has been a real CHANGE. The choices were much less and mediocre. Several of the side dishes, green beans and mashed potatoes were barely warm. The first serving of roast turkey I had was cold and the Station Carver was not very friendly and almost rude. The desert choices were disappointing. Our waitress was inattentive and we had to ask her twice for the dinner rolls and butter. I took a long time to get the check. This was a disappointment on a special occasion.
Even though we had reserved weeks in advance, we were left waiting for a table for over 35 minutes. Part of the problem was that they were taking walk ins without reservations. I can understand a restaurant wanting to maximize their table turnover but there was absolutely no priority given to our reservation. It ended up being chaos in there with staff running every which way. The food was good and so we might return at another time but we will make sure that it is not at a holiday seating.
Thanksgiving at the Old Vinings Inn has been a tradition for several years and I have always had a great experience. Not so much this year. Not sure if staff was new or hired just for the day, but service was not the best. Very little attention paid to beverage refill needs, replacing flatware and picking up used dishes. We were seated at a table where the sun was shining brightly through the window and it was very uncomfortable temperature-wise and vision-wise...I could hardly see my dining companion for the bright light in my eyes. The food was tasty but barely warm. The dessert selection left a lot to be desired. There was also a lot of yelling and disorganization in the servers area - a space you have to walk through to get to the serving line. I'm hoping this Thanksgiving was just an off day for the staff - everybody has one. Will probably have the holiday meal there again next year, but if things are not better, that will be it.
My husband and I enjoyed a wonderful Thanksgiving brunch at the Old Vinings Inn. Great ambiance - very intimate atmosphere with private seating areas, attentive staff -- and all the items on the menu were outstanding! The turkey was moist and delicious and the brussel sprouts were to die for - I went back for seconds and I don't even like brussel sprouts. It was our first visit, and we will definitely be back!
Old Vinings inn is a great restaurant. Every time we go the food is excellent and the staff is attentive and knowledgeable. Michelle was our server and we loved her. She made us feel we were the most important people in the restaurant. We will always be a customer of this fine establishment.
I was out in Atlanta to buy a house and wanted to go to a nice restaurant where I could relax. The Old Vinings Inn sounded great and what I was looking for -- something that wasn't a corporate restaurant that was going to break the bank. I was eating alone and the host/manager asked if I wanted to sit in the bar, since they have full service there and live music. I didn't, but it was a nice of them to offer the option. The food was amazing -- I could cut my braised short rib with a fork, and the chef makes the delicious key lime pie AT HOME every day -- the service was attentive, the location great, and the ambiance very pleasant and eclectic. I can't eat spicy food and one of the sides with my meal was too spicy for me -- another option was made fresh and brought out. Looking forward to eating here often once we move into the area.
We had late dinner after a show, and there were only a few other customers by then. Our server was delightful and gave us great advice about the menu. The fried chicken was perfect as was the trout. The only think I didn't love was the apple "cobbler" which tasted good but was a crisp not a cobbler - just wasn't what I was expecting.
I would give this a qualified recommendation. The service was very good (unless excessive 'vocal fry' is a deal-breaker for you). The food was good, but not fantastic (do not bother about the Red Velvet cake - yikes!) Probably won't seek this place out again, but I would not put up any strenuous objection if companions had their hearts set on the place.
Our waitress was wonderful and attentive. However, I must say the maitre'd was very unfriendly, unprofessional and acted as if it were a bother to be there. He was my first impression of your restaurant . I arrived ahead of my dinning companions and they too even made a remark about his lack of attentiveness and attitude. Driving in from Calhoun Georgia, we dinned there for brunch Sunday 9/3/17. That was quite a drive only to experience his lack luster personality.
We sat in the sun room and there was a screaming toddler. This of course has no bearing on your restaurant, but the maitre'd's attitude combined with a screaming toddler made for a disappointing experience.
We came here for my son's birthday and it was fabulous!!!!! They gave us a small room of our own and it was cozy and delightful. The waiter was perfect and the food was delicious. I really can't say enough good things about it. It was my first time there, but I'll most certainly come back.
I hear the food here is excellent but we hit them on an off day. Some friends and I went for brunch (we had reservations) and got there just after a very large gathering of 50+ people left. The grits were lumpy and lukewarm. The eggs on the Benedict over cooked with a solid yolk and the English muffin was under toasted. The staff was terrific and responsive and the ambiance is wonderful so I will give it another try.
We had a great night at Old Vinings Inn. I do love the casual and classic southern atmosphere, a theme that is carried throughout the menu, staff and ambiance. Everyone was gracious and attentive, and the food was delicious. Will definitely go back, and will recommend to friends too!
