Old Vinings Inn Ratings and Reviews
Old Vinings inn is a great restaurant. Every time we go the food is excellent and the staff is attentive and knowledgeable. Michelle was our server and we loved her. She made us feel we were the most important people in the restaurant. We will always be a customer of this fine establishment.
I was out in Atlanta to buy a house and wanted to go to a nice restaurant where I could relax. The Old Vinings Inn sounded great and what I was looking for -- something that wasn't a corporate restaurant that was going to break the bank. I was eating alone and the host/manager asked if I wanted to sit in the bar, since they have full service there and live music. I didn't, but it was a nice of them to offer the option. The food was amazing -- I could cut my braised short rib with a fork, and the chef makes the delicious key lime pie AT HOME every day -- the service was attentive, the location great, and the ambiance very pleasant and eclectic. I can't eat spicy food and one of the sides with my meal was too spicy for me -- another option was made fresh and brought out. Looking forward to eating here often once we move into the area.
We had late dinner after a show, and there were only a few other customers by then. Our server was delightful and gave us great advice about the menu. The fried chicken was perfect as was the trout. The only think I didn't love was the apple "cobbler" which tasted good but was a crisp not a cobbler - just wasn't what I was expecting.
I would give this a qualified recommendation. The service was very good (unless excessive 'vocal fry' is a deal-breaker for you). The food was good, but not fantastic (do not bother about the Red Velvet cake - yikes!) Probably won't seek this place out again, but I would not put up any strenuous objection if companions had their hearts set on the place.
Our waitress was wonderful and attentive. However, I must say the maitre'd was very unfriendly, unprofessional and acted as if it were a bother to be there. He was my first impression of your restaurant . I arrived ahead of my dinning companions and they too even made a remark about his lack of attentiveness and attitude. Driving in from Calhoun Georgia, we dinned there for brunch Sunday 9/3/17. That was quite a drive only to experience his lack luster personality.
We sat in the sun room and there was a screaming toddler. This of course has no bearing on your restaurant, but the maitre'd's attitude combined with a screaming toddler made for a disappointing experience.
We came here for my son's birthday and it was fabulous!!!!! They gave us a small room of our own and it was cozy and delightful. The waiter was perfect and the food was delicious. I really can't say enough good things about it. It was my first time there, but I'll most certainly come back.
I hear the food here is excellent but we hit them on an off day. Some friends and I went for brunch (we had reservations) and got there just after a very large gathering of 50+ people left. The grits were lumpy and lukewarm. The eggs on the Benedict over cooked with a solid yolk and the English muffin was under toasted. The staff was terrific and responsive and the ambiance is wonderful so I will give it another try.
We had a great night at Old Vinings Inn. I do love the casual and classic southern atmosphere, a theme that is carried throughout the menu, staff and ambiance. Everyone was gracious and attentive, and the food was delicious. Will definitely go back, and will recommend to friends too!
Great food & exceptional service. Took my daughter there for her birthday & it couldn't have been a more enjoyable evening. The owner stopped by our table several times & our server was very personable & attentive. Already looking forward to a return visit!
Cute little neighborhood spot with great service. I went for a date on a weeknight, so it was quiet, which was great, as we were able to have a conversation. I live in the area, and I've noticed this place is usually packed for a Sunday brunch or a late evening weekend dinner. I have even saw weddings done. The food was just OK. I prefer "Soul Food" vs "Southern", but the service certainly made up for it. Drinks were good and a value.
Nearly empty when we arrived. We were seated promptly. The server offered selections of their daily specials. She was very pleasant and hospitable. We had the fried chicken and the pork chop entree. The chicken was good; nothing exceptional. Just mediocre. The pork chop was tasty but undercooked and extremely fatty. The owner tried to say it was intended that way, but our server disagreed and said she was the cook as well, and could see it was undercooked. They seared it some more. I decided to just take my food home afterwards. We didn't order any alcoholic libations or dessert. Our meal came to about 54.00. Our impression is that it wants to be a place for a elegant and sophisticated dining experience. However, the house of building it's in, needs renovating or remodeling. It looks old and outdated. A place can still look historic and modern at the same time. As is, it looks like someone's granny's house, but granny's kids won't help her keep up her house or they won't tell her it's stuck in a time warp and needs updating and renovating so as to not fall in on her. We've been to many restaurants that are historic and yet still find a way to reserve what's special about that particular space by renovating (paint the walls, resurface the hardwood floor, maintain the crown molding and chair railing, replace the carpet, reframe some of the photos on the wall, put up modern window treatments or new, fresh window treatments that compliment the decor). They need to update the space. The space felt old.
I'd rather spend $54 on a meal where it's inviting, cozy and modernized. We will not return. It's just not our style. We didn't enjoy our experience nor feel like we received our money's worth.
I have wanted to visit Old Vining for over ten years. I finally took the plunge! The fried chicken breast was so moist and flavorful. The yeast rolls and butter were amazing. I totally forgot my new eating habits! The buttermilk ice cream that tops a brownie that is covered with bacon and Carmel is the epitome of fabulously divine! Do visit!
