On my arrival I did not feel very welcomed by the male host of the evening. He was not very inviting and led us to a table away from the other guests that was a table by an entrance into the main area. We were placed where the wait staff had to pass us each time they came into the main room and pass through to the outside eating patio area. The entire time, we felt as if we were placed away from the main area of the restaurant. The food was filling and tasty.
Despite all of that he wait staff was very pleasant to us.
Too bad because I would have loved to go back the next time I am in Atlanta, but I paid too much for dinner to feel excluded.
Great meal and awesome music made for a wonderful evening!
We had a wonderful meal at OVI. It had been some time since we had been and we loved it. The atmosphere is lovely, the food was delicious, and the service was warm, friendly, and excellent. The short ribs were excellent and matched well with creamy mashed potatoes and root vegetables. The fish was excellent. The deserts were outstanding....brownie with bacon was not to be missed and the key lime pie was delicious. We dined at a high end restaurant a few weeks ago and had their short ribs....and while they were wonderful I felt the OVI short rib was even better. I highly recommend this little gem.
I took my wife theee for our wedding anniversary. It was wonderful.
This was my first time dining at the Vikings Inn. I was impressed with everything . Food, service, quick and efficient, great food and atmosphere were pleasant. Very cozy.Live music upstairs. I will definitely come back. Everyone was very nice and helpful.
Great food. Bartender made the night special. Thanks Rick!!
Fried green tomatoes- amazing. Short ribs, amazing. Chocolate + bacon + vanilla ice cream dessert was incredible. Our server made the experience a memorable one. We’ll be back for sure!!
Everything about our evening at Old Vinings Inn was exceptional. It is a beautiful old house with great ambiance...the service and food was wonderful. The upstairs bar was a fun start and end to the evening.
We went as a Valentine's date. We were seated in what appeared to be the outside deck. There was vinyl panels hanging down to shield you from the weather. Made for horrible viewing. Next reservation I will request not to sit there unless it's in the Spring or Fall. I had the blackened redfish and my wife had the salmon. Both meals were good not great. Since it is a small menu, my wife struggled for something to suit her taste. Our waiter was nice a little over talkative and hard to understand as he talked so fast and had a Wisconsin accent. Talkative is fine, but when you can't understand him you don't want to keep saying.... huh?. Other staff was very friendly as well. We would go back again.
As always we left full and happy. I cannot think of our waiters name (maybe Steve or John) and his teammate Julie our waitress are always a delight to have looking after us while dinning at old vinnings inn. They don't get any better than those 2! Very professional but at the same time really caring and very personable. It is always a treat when we get seated and find out they will be taking care of us. We have never had anything to eat there that wasn't outstanding! So if you get a chance to eat at old vinnings inn "I say run don't walk"! Enjoy. Mother/daughter known there as Night owls
The Vinings Inn has gotten a little rundown looking and the service, while friendly, was not very professional.
We had a good time coming back to Old Vinings Inn after an extended absence. We were reminded of the good food and relaxing ambiance of the restaurant. The service was very friendly and accommodating. Typically we come there on holidays and special occasions but would consider on "normal" days as well.
We celebrated Valentine’s Day at Old Vinings Inn, and we had a lovely and romantic experience. Our table was set beautifully, we could hear the strains of live jazz coming from upstairs, our wine was superb, the food was delicious, our server was friendly, knowledgeable, and courteous, and everything about our evening was perfect. We will definitely be back!
Great evening in this historic venue!
I was very surprised with Linen a Candles on the table, the waiters were dressed in jeans and flannel shirts. That seemed to be worn, takes away the ambience of dining!
Was a special occasion, which I told several people. Dessert came and was just put on the table with no candle or greeting.
Worst place ever. Manager was rude!!!
Food was worst ever all burnt.
Our waitress was great and so was the bartender!! Very nice and friendly
Love the brunch. All the servers are a pleasure to deal with. Friendly, engaging and genuine.
Great service. Really good food. Very low noise level (wednesday night)
We were celebrating our anniversary and everything was perfect - food, service, ambience, noise level. Unfortunately for the restaurant but great for us, we had the dining room almost to ourselves. (It was a Monday night and we were early.) The Inn comped us our choice of a dessert in honor of our anniversary! We will definitely go again.
Went for wife's birthday and we had not been there in many years. I must say it was a perfect evening. Our sever was spot on with her recommendations. Her service was excellent. Now to the food it was first rate. There was 6 of us and we were all most happy with our meals. Every dish was cooked perfect and the taste could not have been any better. And don't forget the deserts they were amazing. We had a wonderful evening and even though it's a long drive for us we will be going back.
I loved it so quaint and food was delicious. Just ask them to tirn off the heaters on the porch. You jave to jave the candied bacon.
Food was well prepared but basic. Quaint structure and decent service
The environment is a great date night location ... maybe not for a first date given it is very quaint and intimate. Good for couples who have been together and just want a place for good conversation and less people watching. Food was awesome. Started with the crab cake, yummy and not too bready. I had the short ribs and he had the red fish, with a side of Mac and cheese ..because... it’s date night :). Very well cooked and excellent flavor. Our server was friendly, attentive, but not annoying and did a great job making suggestions. Would definitely go again to try some other menu items and try out the rooftop bar.
I take out of town colleagues every chance I get. This is me Go To restaurant to impress out oft owners.
We were seated in the Bear Room which had a fireplace and was enclosed off. Rick our server was phenomenal. We so enjoyed our food and our time together and are sure to return. The live music was the icing on the cake. So great!
Our waiter, Chris, was wonderful and fulfilled our every need. He was attentive and was knowledgeable about the menu. Unfortunately the entrée I had was not very tasty and may have been a result of the meal I ordered. It was flank steak on the Sunday Supper menu. My husband thought his steak was fine.
Also, there was no N/A available. I know space is limited but surely a few cans of it could be kept.
We enjoy the bar and music upstairs and will be back.
I had visited this restaurant several years ago when there were different owners. We ordered "Caesar Salad" and "Springer Mountain Buttermilk Fried Chicken" we had high expectations for this meal, which it did not measured up to our expectations. The food was only okay and the portion size was a little less than our expectations. Our server was great which made our overall expereince good. I believe my review maybe bias since I was expecting my meal to be similar to another popular restaurant in Smyrna/Vinings area that has the same item on their menu.
Another wonderful evening at the Inn... stuck with our old standby - beef stroganoff - a couple of glasses of Prosecco, bread pudding, and some odd cappuccino (more milk coffee than a cappuccino)... thus the docking of a ⭐️... but this continues to be a tried and true local standby that I can count on for a great dining experience!
Everything was super nice, but the food was over priced.
There was so many things on the menu that I liked. Will definitely return.
This is a great place for Sunday brunch after church.
Most folks know the history of the Old Vinings Inn, from its days as a post office, as a general store and even as a filling-station. But we did not come for a history lesson, we went for its commitment to upscale Southern food.
Old Vinings Inn is a very quaint restaurant, and quiet enough for a nice date night. Plus if you have to wait, the waiting area (former living room) has a fireplace to keep you warm during these cold winter months.
As far as the food, we ordered the Charcuterie Plate, which was very good, especially their “lighter” pimento cheese and broad bean hummus. We also ordered the Trout and the Pork Chops. Despite the Trout being one of their staple items, I was underwhelmned. The Pork Chop, however, was fantastic, particularly with the shallot mustard sauce drizzled on top. Not being a huge Mac-and-Cheese guy, I subbed that in favor of brussel sprouts, which I was pleased by.
All in all, a fairly decent meal. Not the best, but certainly not the worst.
Food was very good. Jess gave us outstanding service. Very welcoming and pleasant. The restaurant has a charming feel to it. Go check it out!
We had a outstanding birthday date. The service was great as was the food. There were very few people in the front room with us so it was nice to be able to talk with my wife quietly and enjoy our food. I recommend this place to anyone.
Food was delicious. I will be back for brunch with my ladies meet up group
We live nearby and frequent avail ourselves to this wonderful restaurant. They food is always great and they have a wonderful group of friendly knowledgeable servers. The manager always comes by to see if we need anything.
We were seated right away. Lauren, our server was very attentive and fun. The appetizers of calamari and fried green tomatoes were excellent. 2 ordered shrimp and grits, one salmon, one scallops, and 2 red snapper. All of us thought the food was great. I hope to go back and highly recommend this restaurant.
In a delightful neighborhood and the fiod was outstanding.
We had a wonderful meal and the service was perfect!
