Girl friend outing
It was a perfect meal, excellent service and most enjoys me place for our out of town guests to experience charming Old Village!
Wonderful gem of a restaurant - fantastic, creative food in a friendly, but sophisticated atmosphere. Enjoyed the food immensely.
wonderful local gem....consistent....friendly staff and good meal, don't feel rushed
All was delightful during our Saturday brunch...but the grits were legendary. We’ll be longing for those in the days ahead!
We have our annual Christmas party every year at the Old Village Post House Restaurant. We also have small business dinners there. The food, service and ambiance are amazing. It is a beautiful historic building. Highly recommend.
My wife and. Thoroughly enjoyed. Definitely do over!!
Interesting Restaurant/Inn located near the water in Old Village. This was our 5 visit, 4th brunch. I ordered Eggs Benedict (2nd time). The eggs were slightly overcooked, closer to hard-boiled rather than poached. They use to offer small little muffins in the bread basket, now just plain bread. I would recommend that you give this place a try; we'll be back.
Brunched at the Old Village Post House and were seated in the cozy tavern area. It was a wonderful, slightly more casual dinning area. We began our brunch with Mimosas and Bloody Marys which set the tone for our fabulous dining experience. The Benedicts were all beautiful, I tried the crab one, which was fabulous, as were the potatoes and biscuits. But the grits were the most incredible ones I've ever had. I could eat them for the rest of my life and never miss other food! The omelets were just as pretty and tasted just as delish. We'll go back everytime we are inMount Pleasant!
Everything from the service to the food was amazing per usual. Whether it’s a special occasion or a Wednesday night dinner, the Old Village Post House Inn always delivers wonderful service. The gnocchi was delicious and the birthday cheesecake was to die for. I’d recommend the Post House to anyone, anytime.
My girlfriend and I celebrated a work accomplishment together. The atmosphere was great but got more crowded at the end of the night near the downstairs bar. The service was top notch as Zach did a great job explaining the menu and all of the staff was extremely helpful. As for the food, outstanding. Both of us had the lobster bisque. My girlfriend had the lump crab cake over cream corn. It was outstanding, and I had the Grouper over risotto and shrimp (I can’t imagine there to be a better dish, it was cooked to perfection, tasted amazing, and couldn’t have been happier with my decision). Overall the experience was outstanding and we will definitely recommend and most likely be back. Prices are reasonable but definitely on the higher side of reasonable. They do give you large portions for the prices. Great experience!
Just really disappointed! I could go into a lot of detail, but I would just get depressed writing about it....
Delicious food! Our fish was very fresh and tasty. Brussels sprouts were amazing! In a very cute area in Old Mt. Pleasant.
We are so glad we found this place! It is in a cute little village near the water. The service was excellent and the food and cocktails were great! We would definitely go back!
Loved our meal and Old Village Post House. Our party of four got the crab cakes, grouper, beef carpaccio, lobster bisque, and the fried oysters. Every bite was delicious. Thank you for a great meal!
Very much enjoyed the atmosphere of the Inn dining room and the food was excellent. Highly recommend when in Charleston and/or for a special occasion!
The service was good. The food was not. Very pricey
Out of town visitors
It was great!
This restaurant has gone downhill since Halls took over. The food is sub par and very pricey. This use to be our “go to” but no more. It’s a shame because it is so pretty and local and everyone is so nice who works there.
We went for Easter brunch. Excellent meal! Great service! Everything was top shelf
One of our favorite restaurants
Been there many time. Just aweful this time. Actually had us sit in the doorway. Had to move every time someone entered the room.
We had a wonderful Easter meal at the Post house.....excellent service and very good meal.
Did not feel rushed.....lovely time
This was by far the best meal we’ve had in Charleston. The venue is lovely. The staff is polite. The food is high quality, appropriate size portions, nice presentation and the surprise in the lobster bisque was amazing. Making a point to visit all of the other restaurants in this group.
Thank you for a beautiful evening. From the lovely
Bar to the outside patio dining, the staff, service and food was outstanding
We highly recommend your restaurant to everyone
Thanks, Sarah for everything
You are amazing
Patricia and Nick
We arrive at 8 pm and had to wait to be seated... finally sat at 810. We were offered outside dining )with heaters) but with s temperatures in the 59’s we would not have enjoyed our meal.
We were seated in The bar area with TVs and lots of. Bustle. The tables were so tight our chair was bumped each time a server or guest walked by. I REQUESTED A QUIET TABLE AWAY FROM ALL EXITS AND BUSSING AREAS. There were two front dining rooms for a “fine dining experience” with table clothes and quiet music - but we were directed to the bar.
Our server had to shout at us to hear.
The food was good - not great - shrimp and grits was far too “saucy”.
This looked like a nice place - but just did not make the mark thus evening and I didn’t appreciate sitting in the bar.
I would not return.
Could be one of the best restaurants in and around Charleston. Have been there many times have never been disappointed
My favorite restaurant in Charleston. Hands down. Our server was amazing, professional and accommodating. Can’t wait to come back!!!
Wonderful Sunday Brunch. Lovely ambiance. The staff was very friendly and professional. We did not feel rushed after ordering, even though they were busy. The lobster bisque, eggs benedict and bacon and gruyere quiche with salad were outstanding. They were just right portions. Coffee was some of the best we've had.
Love it, the environment, the food, the location, perfect,
Came here for my Dad's birthday. We had a reservation at 7:45 and were not seated till 8:30. They brought us in a back room with 4 other tables, and it felt like a library. It was so quiet you could hear a pin drop. They had an iPhone in the corner playing some music…from the phone's speakers. Several in our party decided to have the grouper, only to realize when they came to take our order that they were out of grouper for the evening. We then had to wait another 10 minutes to look over menu before server came back to take our order again. We didn't end up leaving the restaurant until 10:30. We've been here before, and the food and service and ambiance were great, but not sure what happened this time. Not even an apology from the manager, just offered a free round of desserts. Kind of surprising!
Have been here several times over the past 3 years. Think the dining experience has trended downward to just ok. Compared to other places at this price point it’s losing its competitiveness but people are still going on name alone. Had a 7p reservation on a Sat night for 2 people - they were not ready to seat us so shuttled us to a full bar where there was one bartender and no where to sit. This is 2nd time in a row this has happened to us. We tried to get a drink, failed, and returned to the hostess area to wait. Finally were seated back in the bar area at a table at 7:25p. Wait staff was friendly, prompt, and attentive. Mixed drinks were very well done. Wine selection good. Beer selection weak. Salads were excellent. Grouper for 36$ was mediocre and over priced for quality of preparation. Tough and lacked expected flavor. You can get fish for 2/3 the price at a number of places nearby that are superior. Overall not a bad experience, but for a 150$ meal for two (4 drinks, 2 salads, 2 entrees) it’s mediocre when considering the price tag. Would choose other spots for a higher end meal out in mt P or downtown.
The food is really great and the service was friendly. I would absolutely eat here again. Even though it’s pricey, it’s not as expensive as downtown and the food is just as good.
Visiting Charleston for a long weekend, worth the uber ride over. Amazing dinner!
Food and service we’re excellent!
I love this restaurant, as always. I've been going here for more years than I can count; had my bridal luncheon here; stayed here on my honeymoon night; and I come back time and again for the atmosphere, food, and service. It's as much fun in the bar with friends as it is for a dinner date. I've not been disappointed once. And, with the purchase of the Maverick group by the Halls, I enjoy the added bonus of a GREAT steak when the mood strikes.
Made reservations but had to wait for 20 min
Our meal was completely rushed. Our salads and soups were taken up before we were finished because they were hovering over us with the main course. My wine was also taken without asking before I was finished. Other than that, it was a good meal.
we had a wonderful meal and a fabulous server, Ashton......no rushed....just a great time.
Food was wonderful, as usual.
