The food was good. The filet mignon was excellent. The fish was average. Our waitress was excellent. There was a long wait between the appetizer and getting the entrees we ordered. There was not an explanation as to why that happened. The room is somewhat small, so the noise level increased once the tables were filled. Overall, a nice little place with good food. But for the price, we would consider going other places next time.

We visited during Restaurant Week and thought we got quite a deal. There were 4 in our party, we each had the filet, which was done to perfection. The only problem we had was with our server, she talked too much, repeating herself over and over again. She also had a very bad habit of reaching across us, rather than walking around the table to serve or take away. Overall, though, a very enjoyable meal, we were all happy.

I expected great food and maybe because it was restaurant week the food was just average. My butternut squash soup had too much spice in it which overwhelmed the taste. My dinner partner and I got the wrong steaks the green beans were just uncooked. Overall not a great meal for the price

Wonderful and charming. Delicious food and excellent service. Although we were one of the last tables, we were not rushed out. All the courses came at appropriate times.
Definitely a wonderful place to dine.

Enticed by So. Car. restaurant week 2018, I drove 125 miles from Aiken, SC to dine at the Old Post Inn in the village of Mt. Pleasant, SC. Well worth the drive! The staff that greeted my husband and me along with our server were very cordial and accommodating. The menu selection and price very appealing. The food served was very tasteful and well portioned. The dining room was small and intimate with occasional soft music playing in the background. We enjoyed ourselves and look forward to returning perhaps staying overnight at the associated Inn.

We had a lovely and delicious special birthday dinner here during restaurant week. The butternut squash soup was perfectly seasoned, the salad was a delight to the eye and the palate, and the server brought us complimentary champagne when she found out that we were celebrating a birthday. The swordfish was outstanding, and the beef filet was even better. They each were accompanied by interesting combinations of vegetables. The chocolate lava cake did not have any lava, but it was exquisite! The only thing that would have made it better was if the restaurant wasn't quite so dark. It was kind of funny to see people all over the restaurant reading the menus by their cell phones! It was almost difficult to see our food, too. Overall, it was a fabulous meal and a memorable night out. Highly recommend!

The filet I got melted in your mouth. I was very please with the steak. However, my husband got the swordfish and wasn't as happy as I was. Next time he'll get the steak. I highly recommend to anyone. As a matter of fact, will be making another reservation.

The Village Post House is our GO TO PLACE for great food and thoughtful service and super cozy setting. Getting out of all the craziness in "downtown" this place is accessible and in such a nice friendly atmosphere and great area.

Usually very good. Tonight was off, Steak was past rare, more like medium, pink, no juice. Again, usually perfect! Dessert was dry, chocolate molten cake was disappointing. This was restaurant week menu. Once more, food usually 5 star, maybe it was busy. Of the many times I've been there, this was the first time I was disappointed. Service was excellent. Hate to not give 5 stars but....

2 of our 4 meals were good (not mine). My mussels appetizer was cold in a deep narrow dish with all the sauce at the bottom and no extra plate for the shells. Server did bring me a plate when I asked. When I got to the sauce, it wasn’t that flavorful. I didn’t enjoy this dish. Bread plates on the table but we didn’t get any bread/butter until we asked for it. My grouper entree ($36) was so dry as was the risotto that accompanied it. It also came with 3 shrimp that were good. My bread pudding dessert was good. My husband (the birthday boy) ordered filet mignon and it was good. We won’t be going back.

I have enjoyed the Old Village Post House on a number of occasions and have never been disappointed. My husband and I have brought out of town family here. I have enjoyed happy hour with my book club here, celebrated a bridesmaids' luncheon here, attended professional seminars here on two occasions, and had "date night" here from time to time, and all have been lovely experiences. On this particular visit, we enjoyed the restaurant week menu and were very pleased. This restaurant is a true neighborhood gem, a perfect place to experience Mt. Pleasant's Old Village.

unfortunately our first experience here was tainted by giving us literally the worst seat in the restaurant. we were outside a closet/ supply alcove squeezed in the back of back room surrounded by 2 bigger parties making it hard to hear each other.
Our steaks were both delicious though neither of us liked the spices on our potatoes salad was good too. we might try again but maybe for lunch but never if we were seated in the same spot again

Overall good dining experience. The butternut squash soup was excellent. My steak was not quite right. I think when I said medium rare, she only heard medium. I also had to ask for a fork after my main course arrived. Those were the reasons I fève it 4 stars. Dessers were just okay. Love the setting.

Just love the way they have redone the old house. In a way it reminds me of eating with my grandparents in their house years ago. Our waitress was very kind and perfectly attentive. Plus it was restaurant week which made it more affordable.

Bloody Mary was perfect as was my meal. I had the omlet but my friend was allergic to raw onions and they custom cooked her shrimp and grits with no onions at all.

The food was excellent, the carpaccio to the pork chops and hamburger were delicious. Will definitely be back soon.

Unfortunately, our initial impression could have been better. Although there were apologies, it took 30 min to be served our first cocktails. Too long. The bisque was great as well as the charred radicchio and burrata salad. We did need to request bread for the table. The filet was fantastic, so was the blackened salmon. My husband was disappointed with his crab cake. It was dry, seemed over cooked.

Lovely dinner with family. Good food & ambiance. A little loud for some older, due to nature of age of property & how many people are in the restaurant. Second time, very good.

We used to frequent this restaurant on our trips to Isle of Palms. It has been a couple of years since our last visit . So glad we chose to eat dinner here. Beef carpoccio was outstanding. Enjoyed the grouper as well. I would highly recommend to friends and will be back.

This is one of my favorite places to eat in Charleston! They have the best steak and fries. We took our parents for Christmas Eve and truly it was everything I wanted in ambience, the meal, the mood, coziness and more. It was truly my favorite Christmas Eve on record and will become our tradition moving forward. Thank you to everyone at OVPH for providing such a wonderful evening!

One of the best meals we have had in Charleston.
The Post House was bought by The Hall's group. It was really good before, but the improvements brought by the Hall's group have pushed it to the top of the Charleston dining scene.
Wonderful atmosphere in a 150 year old house. Tons of charm.
The menu is varied and excellent.
Do NOT miss the chopped salad, fried oysters, and filet.
Everything was great, and the meal flowed well thanks to friendly and attentive service.

Highly recommended

Not knowing if the restaurant will receive this review, I must say I was very disappointed. Out of the four of us dining, two felt ill later in the night; and I was violently ill the night of our reservation and the next day (12/19), so much so, I couldn't go to work. Without going into details, I was restricted to the couch and bathroom for the entire day. I was not pleased that our meal, $280.00, caused me such turmoil and distress. I will not be eating at the Old Village any time soon.
