Old Village Post House Ratings and Reviews
Our party of four was seated above 15 minutes after our reservation time, but it was well spent in the small but friendly and efficient bar area. Once seated, our wine service was prompt, and we ordered our salads and entrees'. Because both couples like to split a salad and an entree', we asked to do this, and our server agreed without question. When our split salads came out, they were separately plated, and each was easily enough for one person. Our split entrees' were the same way -- well-plated and more than enough for one!
The main dining room thinned out after about an hour which made it nicely quiet and easier to converse.
In summary, we thoroughly enjoyed our evening at Old Village Post House and will definitely return!
A really nice ambience. Staff is great and casually performing to a nice level of service. Locals as well as visitors in a nice neighborhood surroundings. The menu may be a little limited but so what. They have what you like and you feel good there. Seating at bar or in main room. Either is enjoyable.
We have dined here several times and are members of the hall pass. We brought out of town guests and were soooo disappointed. Two of the four guests ordered grouper. It was so tasteless our guests asked the waiter for a lemon wedge to try and make it better. The other guest with grouper only took a couple bites. I ordered the special, two 4 ounce bone in filet cooked rare. I order steak at least once a week so I am not a novice steak eater. I literally could not even cut off a standard sized bite of the filet, that is how small the amount of meat there was on the bone. The truffle butter I asked to top my steak was not even on the meat. They put it in on the side of the plate. That is how small those steaks were, the scoop of butter would not fit on the steak. We were so embarrassed in front of our guests and will not continue to frequent this establishment if this is the quality that we can expect.
We had never eaten here before and went based on past reviews and the fact that it was convenient to where we were staying. We were both so pleasantly surprised - what a gem! Although the room we were placed in was a bit loud due to no noise deafening items (drapes, rugs) it wasn't really an issue. The wait staff was great, the food was great and the atmosphere was charming. What a great final meal to end an awesome week in Charleston!
Fantastic location and better food! The lobster bisque was the best I have ever tasted, and I am from New England! The rib eye steak was second to none, and the hand-crafted drinks were exceptional. Top that off with great service, and you have a perfect dining experience!
We were visiting Charleston area for the weekend and found Old Village Post House while searching Open Table. Great food and excellent service. I started with the lobster bisque, and then had the grouper. My wife had the long bone porch chop special. Both meals were amazing. We ate on the patio and loved the beautiful, quiet setting. Great evening! We will be back for sure and will tell all our friends about this wonderful restaurant.
We celebrate our anniversary here every year - and every year continues to exceed expectations. Not sure how they do it - if it is our memories or reality - but it's great. Service is exemplary. Even our 13 year old remarked upon it. Job well done! Thank you! Worth every penny.
A superb experience, start to finish. Companion had the pan roasted grouper from the menu, and raved about it. I had the evening special of Seafood Sofrito (Spanish version, with mussels, calamari, lobster tail, and chorizo), and it was simply incredible - mouth waters thinking about it four days later! Matched very well with a nice chianti.
Service was perfect - friendly, attentive, and well paced.
Our reservation was early (5:30PM), so we enjoyed a nice, quiet ambiance.
