Libby was amazing! Loved her jokes and quick wit!
I’d highly recommend this place if you’re trying to grab beer and apps and watch a game. Great beer selection and the pretzels were pretty good. Dinner here is however very mediocre.
AWESOME menu, staff members,
beer selection, and ambiance!
Went in with high hopes - didn't meet. Liked the spacious atmosphere of a nice old town bar, but even with our reso our party of 6 was seated in the cramped back by wait staff. Server was uninformed and not helpful. Sharables were yummy; entrées meh; cocktails decent; LOL to 90 beers on tap - first 4 ordered were out w no recommendation on next up.
Solid 3 choice again for restaurant decor, atmosphere - would go back for happy hour but not for dinner - wait staff really needs to improve as guests are really not cared for. Music was early 2000 jams, didn't match vibe.
Love that you can make your own flight from a list of MANY beers. The filet mignon sliders were absolutely fantastic.
Wonderful evening. Came at 7:30, nice and quite table for 7. We're all older than your regular clientele, but had great food and fun.
Pour house was the perfect spot for a meal right before my family and I attended Second City to see some improv. at 8:00 pm. We made a reservation on Open Table for 6:15 pm on a Saturday. We got there on time, the hostess asked about our seating preference, and we were escorted to one of the booths along the wall. There were food choices for everyone and the place was lively without being obnoxious. The server was friendly, polite and attentive without being overbearing. The place is modern, upscale without being stuffy, architecturally interesting, with a lot of beautiful wood paneling. There are televisions on the wall however they do not detract from the modern upscale feel of the restaurant. The restaurant feels comfortable and inviting and attracts an energetic, polite and attractive crowd. My parents who were from out of town appreciated the choice and commented on how great the place was. It was an overall positive experience and we would definitely go to Pour House again and would definitely recommend it!!
Great location. Good food. Extensive beer list. Good for a bite before a show, a meet up with friends/co-workers, a casual date, etc. Not too pricey and not overly busy on most nights...
Way to expensive .... we only had a flight each and ended up with a 55$ bill!
Food's always great but Melanie and Genevieve also always provide meticulous, impeccable service. Give it a try.
We requested a less noisy area through Open Table, but the staff person put us in the middle of the room. We asked for a quieter place, and he put us way in the back, but the noise level was still way too high. We were going to leave, but not enough time before the theater. Will say the food was very good. We will probably go back, but not at night
Great venue in beautiful building with gorgeous windows. It was just so cold inside!
Food was pretty good but the service was terrible. I seriously doubt that I will be back.
The food is really good. The service was great, the server was really nice and attentive. A new find for me in the neighborhood.
Kate, my server, and Melanie the Manager were 4 stars as usual Great dining experience.
Went around 8 PM on a sunday and the place was quiet which was good. Service was great and plates were great portions. Must order calamari and pretzels as starters.
Exceptional food and libations. Kate, Hannah, Brie--the whole cast-provide great service for the best sports-oriented bar in Chicago bar none!
Would never go back here. Spoke with someone about accommodating our bigger group multiple times & when everyone showed up there was no record of this and everyone was stuck in a back corner. So disappointing..
Great food and service! Accommodating to theater ticket timing.
This was the first restaurant we have visited in Old Town. We were not impressed with Old Town, but loved this restaurant. It was quiet at noon, but I would guess in the evenings this place gets loud and much more lively. The restaurant was clean, there was a wall of large screen Televisions, and the food and service were excellent. There is a large beer list.
Cheese curds were a great starter. We had the porkbelly burger and the grilled cheese with shirt ribs. They were both delicious & served hot. Service was great!
Super noisy, good beer selection, and decent food. Overall, it was ok, but would unlikely go back due to so many other places offering the same cuisine and drink selection in a better environment and ambiance.
Our waiter Alec was great. We ate outside and had a great meal. Inside was extremely noisy so we got takeout.
Extensive beer menu with above average bar food. Seems like a great place to watch a game with friends. Service was a little below average as they weren't that busy and we didn't see our waitress for almost 25 minutes from when we wanted to request our check.
The place's ambiance is nice. Lots of tvs, plenty of seating with a nice atmosphere. Our waiter was fine...not particularly nice or special, did his job and was pleasant enough. We were a group of 8 for a birthday and no one did much to make it feel special. They didn't need to, but again it just sort of fits the theme that everything was...fine. We found a lot of the food to be bland. The meat loaf, the veggie burger, the chicken sandwich all weren't anything special, but the appetizers were very good. Lots of beer selections too. If you want yummy appetizers and lots of good draft beer, this place is nice. If you want anything more, I'd recommend somewhere else.
Our server, Maggie, was amazing. Cool vibe and very laid back. The food was excellent. I had the smoked wings that had such a great flavor to them on their own. The sauces were merely a bonus. I hate when restaurants slab a bunch of sauce on the wings turning it into a soup. These were dip as you go and amazing. The inside of the restaurant was very pretty and a lot of TVs. There was an upstairs portion that would be great for getting together with a group of people to watch a game. Coming back shortly!
I typically never write bad reviews, but my experience at Pour House last night was one of the worst I've ever had in a restaurant. I'd like to premise this by saying it's a great spot to watch a game and grab some beer (they have 90ish taps), but the manager is awful. He is the classic power hungry guy who apparently doesn't know what customer service is.
The final round of the US Open golf tournament was on and they were down to the last three holes. I asked him if he could put the sound on before the NBA finals game started and his response was, "No, golf would kill the vibe in here." I wasn't that mad he wouldn't put it on, but it was the way he responded. He was very short and very rude. He could have just given a polite reason why he wasn't going to put it on, instead of being offensive.
I get it - golf isn't the most exciting sport, but I didn't ask to have the sound on for the entire tournament, just the end. I've been a patron of Pour House for years and have spent thousands of dollars there, so to be treated like that is unacceptable.
I let the previous situation go and chalked it up to him having a bad/busy day, but then it got much worse. After the NBA finals game ended, and after the ceremony (which they botched the sound for), he decided to put music on instead of the Cubs game. I asked to get the sound on and he was again very rude and said no.
I feel bad for the staff because they deserve a better manager. I have a degree in hospitality management and can't imagine having someone like him run a restaurant. I'll be having a chat with Chris and Jason (owners) next time I see them to see what they think about the situation.
Wouldn't go back for the food. Beer list is the only thing it has going for it.
Great food and our server was great.
It was pretty loud but that comes with the atmosphere.
We thoroughly enjoyed the Pour House for several reasons! The crab fondue was fabulous! Will come back for that reason only! Ordering a salad for dinner where you customize by choosing the ingredients was great. My husband also enjoyed his hamburger. Finally, the ability to order 6 oz. beers enabled my husband and I to sample a couple of the craft beers without the need to order an entire flight, or only one serving of a larger size. We'll be back!
Great place if you want to go to a pub but still want it to be classy. Great food and drinks.
Good location. Late night. Iffy staff. Some attentive and some terrible. Be careful what you order some of the food is also terrible.
We came here to watch the NCAA Championship. The downstairs was full and we were able to sit upstairs with plenty of TVs. Great service, great food and drink list.
We visited the Pour House prior to attending Second City. It has a great atmosphere and the food was excellent. The selection of craft beers was large and the burgers were a sight to be seen. The Pour House would be a great spot to watch a sporting event!
I highly recommend the Pour House!
Big beer selection, food was good. I would go back again.
We had wonderful food and service. It was a "spring" day in February and the place was just hopping.
Been planning to come here for a while and finally did a few weeks ago. After that, came back every weekend for 3 weekends in a row! Old Town Pour House is always a good time. Service has always been great. We were once a little late for our reservation because of traffic but I called them and they were really nice and accomodating.
Servers are really helpful and patient with us and food is always awesome. Even the simplest dishes on the menu that you can find anywhere else are kicked up a notch and never boring. I have yet to try something I didn't like or appreciate! Definitely one of my favorite spots in the area.
I came here for the first time before seeing a show at Second City. While the food was overall good, I would recommend coming here more for how cool the restaurant looks with the beautiful wood work. When I walked in I was immediately wowed by how grand it is. It seems like it used to be a fancy hotel or bank. This would be a good spot for watching a sports game because there are numerous large tv's, the bar is big, and the sound was turned up when the Blackhawks game came on. Our food was good - we ordered the risotto and the pork sandwich. They also have an impressive craft beer list and tons of beers on tap. Overall good spot!
I went to Old Town Pour House with a few friends to watch the Minnesota v. Indiana basketball game. Overall, a great experience. We were seated in the booth area, and the noise level was very quiet. It allowed the group to talk while watching the games. Our waitress was fantastic as well. I would highly recommend.
