Old Stone Inn & Tavern
Our inspiration stems from the variety of cultures that make up our city our goal is to combine these traditional flavors into something uniquely Kentucky. Experience food and service that are precise, yet never pretentious.
Had a wonderful meal, service was good and will not hesitate to go back in the near future,
I took my son to Sunday brunch buffet to celebrate his birthday. We had heard great things about the newest ownership and it did not disappoint. Everything was high quality and the variety was split between breakfast and lunch items. We will return. Great experience! Thank you!
We had brunch at the inn . It was very good . I had heard about the sausage and gravy and fried chicken and I was not disappointed . They got busy fast . Might I suggest 2 pans of fried chicken , as they went fast . Some people say it is a pricey brunch ( 25 $ per person ) , but that is par for a higher end brunch . I will be back .
Had an incredible dinner for 6 in the room just to the left of the hostess stand. The service was amazing and the food equally as good. Appetizers were delicious: Braised Spare Ribs, Grit Fritters, Catfish Fingers, and Mushroom Fries. Everything was served hot, right from the kitchen. My Wild Rice Encrusted Trout melted in my mouth, such a different preparation that I highly recommend. Others loved the Lamb Pappardelle (handmade pasta served with locally raised lamb), Mushroom Ravioli (locally farmed mushrooms), and Pan Roasted Chicken (locally raised chicken with delicious crispy skin). The restaurant was busy and the bar very fun and lively. Can't wait to go back, hear the fried chicken on the Sunday Brunch is THE best ever.
Chef Danielson and crew knocked it out of the park
We had a quiet relaxing dinner with a couple of friends. It was a perfect setting for what we were looking for which was not feeling rushed in a quiet and unique place. The food was excellent. I would recommend the portabella mushroom fries and the braised ribs.
The food and service were excellent. The atmosphere is charming. We drove from Lexington just to eat there and we were not disappointed in the least.
I found the food to be very good. We went for brunch this past Sunday 9-29-19. My daughter absolutely loved the fried chicken and I would have to agree with her. All the food was good, the ham was delicious, eggs were perfect along with the biscuit and gravy.
It was so noisy we didn’t enjoy the evening
Good local restaurant
The dinner was excellent. The waiter was friendly, attentive, and service was excellent. We had the chef's special and plan to return soon to try some of the other regular menu items that sound fantastic.
Amazing dinner. Excellent food and service, and the tour of the building after the meal was very fun! Can’t wait to come again.
Excellent dinner. Like the new remodel of Old Stone Inn
Had a great evening. Our first time here under the new ownership and it was a great night to remember. The atmosphere is a old house in simpsonville that is made of stone and wood.. hence it’s name. The appetizers we had was the fried green tomatoes. We shared a salad and she had the short rib and I had the trout. The service was awesome. Very friendly. Knew her stuff about the food. Drinks were always filled. I would recommend if you want a great date place. You gotta try them out. It’s worth the drive.
Celebrated an anniversary with good friends. Great place to celebrate! Food is wonderful! Chef checks in with guests, a very nice touch!
Food was exquisite! loved the restaurant and decor. We recently relocated from Chicago and were looking for a unique local restaurant for date night. My husband had the pork chop and I had the shrimp. Creative appetizers and dessert, cocktails. Server made great recommendations and food was hot, prepared beautifully. Perfect balance of attention by server. Staff were lovely at reception. Appreciated to owner and chef stopping by table. Only suggestion would be to dim the lights a bit in the room. It was a bit too bright.
The Old Stone Inn & Tavern was a great local option for a special dinner. It definitely was farm to table and had a chef-owned and operated feel. The wine selection was great and reasonable. would definitely go again.
So good! Chef's were available and spoke to us.
The Old Stone Inn is a wonderful change from the city restaurants. Great food, and atmosphere.
Deviled eggs, catfish fingers and wife’s trout very good. My pork chop was over done and a bit tough. Initially the room was very quiet but then a group came in and conversation was impossible. Service and drinks were great
A most enjoyable experience. Met the chef on the way in and he returned at the end of our meal to see if we enjoyed the food - and we did! Would highly recommend a visit to the Old Stone Inn. We will be back.
Food quality not worth the prices and our food came out so quickly; it had to be pre cooked!
I have been to the Old Stone Inn several times in the last year and i have not been disappointed yet. The food and wait staff are excellent. I am also a bartender at a local winery and frequently been asked for dining recommendations in the area. The Old Stone Inn is always first on my list.
We visited Old Stone Inn melt off the bone, well accompanied with mashed potatoes water glasses were always full and our orders were quickly attended. Only detractor was the ambiance on the patio; it was a nice evening and the patio is covered, so not much of an issue. We'll be back.
Service was extremely slow and the bar took its sweet time to make our drinks. Once our food finally came out it was good. Very noisy environment as well. If they could add sound dampening and better service, this place could succeed unlike it's past attempts.
Second time I have need here for lunch. Both meals were excellent. Fresh ingredients!
Great good food
Great spot, nice patio, good food friendly staff. Good experience all around.
Good food with excellent service. Fried green tomatoes as an appetizer were a hit!
Sunday brunch. Absolutely wonderful. Everything from the house to the people...and the food...oh my it was good. Fried chicken and waffles were perfect. Plum & Peach salad made with onion & goat? cheese. Frittatas. Mac & cheese with spinach, corn, green tomato salad, biscuits & gravy.... Bring your appetite. Take your time. Leave wholly satisfied.
Love the ambiance of the old limestone stage coach stop and the service was great. However, the food was uninspired and heavily overpriced. I really wished we enjoyed it more as I've been looking to go back since they reopened.
Hello, I'm glad that you enjoyed the ambiance. Chef is about to revamp many of our menus, and we can't wait to see what new flavors he comes up with. Please come back out, perhaps even for our Sunday brunch buffet. Thank you for your review. Daisey Dailey General Manager
Had not heard good reviews but decided to give it a try. Must say, the service was good, food was very good, & all personnel were friendly & helpful. Chef came to say hello & to see how things were going. Definitely will go back.
Delicious meal. We had a few drinks, 3-4 appetizers and an entree. The waiter was very knowledgeable, attentive and made great suggestions. We ate pork spare ribs, deviled eggs, mushroom fries, cheese spread with pork rinds, and braised short ribs with vegetables and mashed potatoes. Everything was fresh and flavorful. Atmosphere was very nice. They had a cute lounge, bar and really nice patio.
We were seated quickly and it was downhill from there. I ordered a Bloody Mary and a lemonade for my grandson. 15 minutes later it finally arrived and we were told that they were out of lemonade and they had to squeeze more lemons. We had no idea it was a buffet for Sunday Brunch and were left just sitting there. Finally, I decided to go look and we found the buffet. Everything was completely cold except the Fried chicken which was very dry. The only items that were covered was the gravy that was like glue and the bread pudding that had no sauce and was totally dry. Everything else was uncovered in a casserole dish and clearly had been sitting there since they opened. We were there at 1:30. I am posting pictures so you can see the uncovered and cold dishes. Totally inexcusable. To top it off, this pitiful buffet is $25 per person. We will never go back. The other meals may be quite good but do no go to this brunch or you will be highly disappointed.
Hello, We want to apologize for your poor experience. As for the lemonade, we do not normally offer it was made fresh from scratch. I was not here to attest to the gravy, but I have addressed this issue with the Chef. The food in the Martha Stewart crock-pots are all actually sitting on sternos, and kept covered when possible. We use these crock-pots since they hold less, and thus ensures that we are regularly replacing items. We would love to have you back in. Thank you for your review. Daisey
Went to Sunday brunch which was a misnomer. It was an overpriced fried chicken dinner. Chicken was the only meat. 2 mediocre veggies and 2 salads. Biscuits and lumpy gravy plus cold waffles. No eggs, bacon, sausage, additional meat like country ham or turkey or beef round. Should have mor veggies and salads. The dessert was supposed to be bread puddin but it was dry seasoned bread with no topping (really no bourbon sauce in KY???). $25 is reasonable for a Sunday brunch but as I said this was a chicken dinner so way overpriced.
Should have gone to Bojangles and spent $7.
Breakfast foods on Sunday Brunch didn’t quite live up to usual great taste. Lunch portion of brunch much, much, better. When return will eat only chicken, vegetables, and salad. BTW the watermelon and tomato salad is outstanding
Hello, We have taken your review into consideration, and we promise that this Sunday's menu will shine! Thank you. Daisey Dailey General Manager
Our waiter was excellent. Food was very good except for bean salad
The Apple Cheddar Salad seemed to be missing the Spicy Pecan Vinaigrette, very dry. The Bourbon Trail Burgoo was mild. I've never had Burgoo that was not spicy. The other diners that I was with had the Whole Hog Fried Bologna sandwich which they thoroughly enjoyed. We all shared the appetizer Bacon-Pecan Pimento Cheese, excellent!
The service was very good, and the ambiance terrific!
We will go back!
David, Thank you for taking the time to review your dining experience with us. I apologize that your salad did not have enough dressing. If that ever happens again we would love to fix the issue while you are dining. As for the Burgoo we choose to keep it mild so that all of our guests can enjoy it. We do keep hot sauce in house, so ask for that next time. You could send me a private message with your full name so I can add these things to your guest notes. Daisey Dailey General Manager
Waitress was alone in the dining room making service for the several customers slow. Ours was a party of eight with the food on several orders good to very good but two orders of beef were very tough due to overcooking. One of our party told the waitress about his unhappiness but she became defensive and finally said she would relay his concern to the chef which was what he initially asked her to do.
It's a lovely setting but very hard to overlook the food quality.
The Old Stone Inn is such a gorgeous little vintage cottage serving great food. We went there with another couple for the Sunday brunch. Their homemade waffles were so yummy. They made little bacon wrapped egg muffins that were a bit overcooked and dry. The fried chicken was pure perfection, as was the salad, roasted potato salad and spicy fresh corn. But I highly recommend to the wonderful chef to add a bourbon sauce for the bread pudding. It was too too dry and became worse because of the sterno keeping it warm. Overall, it was delicious. We want to return for dinner!!
