Contemporary American
The Old Stone Inn & Tavern transforms the essence of southern food. The kitchen reinterprets the bounty of the surrounding area, working with local farms to explore an ingredient driven cuisine evoking a way of life centered on seasonality and the grand traditions of the south. At The Old Stone Inn & Tavern, we are influenced by fresh local ingredients and the farmers that grow them. We pay tribute to the food by preparing it with care, using every edible part from flower to root and nose to tail.

Our inspiration stems from the variety of cultures that make up our city our goal is to combine these traditional flavors into something uniquely Kentucky. Experience food and service that are precise, yet never pretentious.

The food is very good, great service and nice options, however, I would like to see them change up the menu and offer more dinner portion and lunch salads, as we frequent the restaurant often. We love it, but would like to see some variety. Everything I have had (most of the menu) has been great so far. Now that they are offering lunch, some healthier options should be made available.

Should be listed as a $$ Restaurant (it currently indicates $). 2 Beers, 2 Appetizers and 1 Entrée almost $100. Food was delicious. Ambience was excellent. Our particular waiter could have upped the fun level a notch. Chef David was friendly and very cordial. We easily made reservations online and were seated immediately upon arrival.

The food was served cold which is unacceptable for this level of restaurant. The male staff didn't seem to want to be there serving guests. As if they had better things to do. The ambiance is amazing and the food was good, albeit cold. I'm chalking this up to being just an off night as this is a wonderful venue that needs to be operating with consistency. The last chef/owner that served good food was Mike Stone and that was years ago. I hope the current owners/chef will bring back the Sunday buffet as it was stellar.

We went for Valentines dinner. We ordered the mushroom fries as an appetizer. For dinner, we split the 40 oz bone-in rib-eye with the pear salad and brussel sprouts. Dessert was the apple stack cake. Everything was delicious. We left stuffed and with plenty of leftovers another meal. The chef personally visited each table to chat. So glad Old Stone Inn finally got the right people to run this restaurant.

The staff and food were great. If you're dining with people that cannot climb stairs, you'll need to alert Old Stone while making your reservations. They do not have an elevator that goes to the second floor. I highly recommend this restaurant.

This was out second time at the Old Stone Inn since reopening under an incredible new chef. And for the second time, our expectations were exceeded! Out table was ready when we arrived, the service was friendly and professional, and the food was phenomenal. We both had the beef short ribs with mashed potatoes and gravy. The presentation was beautiful and the food was delicious. We have lived in Shelbyville for 27 years and can finally say the Old Stone Inn has become the historic attraction we can love and cherish. We are looking foreword to seeing what they have in store with the new summer pavilions on the patio!

A+ for Chef Dave Danielson and Staff, Every Course was Fantastic! You will not be disappointed, the Beef Short Ribs, Trout, Pecan Pie and Marshmallow Dessert were our favorites, Can’t wait to come back soon!! Take time to visit the bar, the stone cube for your bourbon is one of a kind, there’s not enough space here to brag on Food, Service and staff, Just Go!!!

From the manager following up re our reservation for 20, to the patient and efficient service, the staff made my Father's 88th Birthday upstairs in the "library"an enjoyable experience. Very glad to see this historic venue back in business and certainly being run in a first class manner! The food was very good, my only suggestion would be to add a few more traditional/down home options for those with simpler palates.

We both had roasted chicken and vegetables. It was tasty and tiny. Not worth $26. I had 1-1/2 ounce of Chivas Regal for $12 and my friend had a glass of iced tea for $4.
I don’t mind paying any amount for an exceptional meal, but this wasn’t exceptional.
The dining room was very cold but that was understandable due to the age of the building.
I will not recommend it and I’ll not return.

The appetizers were fabulous. Loved the pimento cheese!!! Bread was great! Love the custom made butter!!! The trout was delicious. The green beans had that perfect "snap". I am diabetic. But my wife really enjoyed the Apple layered cake. We can't wait to visit again. You all are the vincenzos of Shelby county. So glad you are in our neighbor hood!!! See you soon!!!🤗

The service was great. The noise level in the main dining room made it hard to have a conversation with our table mates.
Happy to have the Inn open again and look forward to the outdoor dining in the Spring.

First time back since reopened. Party of 8. This plane is such a unique and lovely venue...so glad to see it finally headed in the right direction! Service was top notch...Food was wonderful. Delicious specials! Everyone really enjoyed their selections. Do miss a few of the original Old Stone staples... chicken and artichokes, fried green tomatoes and, of course, fried chicken! Maybe some day! We will be back!!!
