Old School - Toronto
A lot of confusion with guest list and reservations, forgetful staff of things ordered, food not all brought out on time and average tasting food. Disappointed.
Organized a group of 11 for a company holiday party. Loved that I was able to pre-order and they were able to accommodate us. They offered us the back area that we had to ourselves. The staff were great and loved their take on comfort food.
Food and lattes were absolutely delicious!!
Brunch on a weekend can get a bit hectic with lineups and feeling rushed so your table can be turned over. I’ll definitely come back and enjoy the more relaxed lunch on week days!
Great Brunch place!
Delicious pancakes. Poutine wasn't the greatest. Great service.
Pre Christmas dinner with the kiddos, aunts, husband and grandparents. It was empty when we got there and our server had a great dry sense of humour and was attentive. Food was tasty; cocktails were delish.
The waitress seemed almost annoyed with us as soon we walked in for some reason.
It made for an awkward dining experience. The chicken and waffles... NOT GOOD. The chicken was
made with cheap meat that was filled with fat and gristle and not edible, in my opinion. We were so looking forward to this being our first visit and were disappointed with this experience.
We really liked the atmosphere. Unfortunately the food was cold despite the fact it was served in mini cast iron skillets and the restaurant was not busy. Was a disappointment as the description sounded really great. Probably won't go back.
One of the best brunch spots this city has ever seen. Really incredible is how Chef Stuart Cameron is amazing at putting together these dishes ...the entire team and staff are top notch and this place is making a huge run for THE best brunch + dinner spot in Toronto.
I came in on a Sunday with my husband and 3 year old daughter.
We waited about 10 minutes for a table..not bad for a Sunday brunch.
Once we were seated service was great!
I had the fried chicken benny which has AMAZING.
My husband and little one shared the blueberry hill pancaked which they loved!
We'll definitely be back...maybe for dinner next time.
None of our party left hungry. Small but solid menu. Service was quick and helpful.
Great ambience and service. The food was very good as per the portions and taste wise. However the cappuccino size was extremely small. For a guest who loves his/her coffee that size was not value for money. Overall a good experience.
Great breakfast and nice little place. Chill vibe. Try the brisket Benedict.
Had my little birthday dinner get together here and it was perfect. Not too noisy, was able to really have a conversation with everyone. The food was alright, maybe I was too drunk, but the food wasn't as hot as I believe it should be. I had the steak but it was also a bit burnt on the outside and it came with fries and a salad. It tasted great actually, despite the temperature and the burnt taste of the steak, but the inside was good! But the beans and the pulled pork that my boyfriend had wasn't so great to me, the pulled pork and the beans was sweet; I think at least one or the other should have been more savoury/salty or spicy to balance the taste. ALSO, the mozarella sticks are a MUST. So good. Overall it was good! The drinks were great for sure! I'd say the highlight of the night was our server Jeffrey. Amazing guy, very conversational, especially if you want to know a lot about music. He definitely set the vibe. Overall a great experience.
Loved the food! It was super tasted and the portions were nice and big with great flavour so it’s worth the price. Service wasn’t great though, I went with my friend and we were treated fairly cold. We are both teenagers so I am not sure if it is because of that, as teens are known to tip well. It seemed our waitress was much nicer to other customers and tried to ignore us and rolled her eyes at us over some of our orders (a pumpkin spice latte). The actually dining area is quite small and the booth seats sink in a lot. I am 5’4 and the table was at my breasts. The food was delicious but the interior was crowded and the service was rude.
Booked a table for 3:15 only to get there and find they’re closed. If you’re closed, why is it an option to book appointments? Extremely disappointed.
I went to Old School for a late brunch on Friday with my partner. I ordered the Blueberyy Hill since I was feeling like something sweet. It was AMAZING!! The brown sugar butter along with the blueberries made it the perfect afternoon treat. My partner had the Notorious BIG which he said was also amazing.
There were about 10 other people in the restaurant when I arrived. Service was excellent.
I`ll definitely be back when Im craving something sweet.
My husband and I were not at all impressed with this spot. We should have realized that the restaurant wasn't very good, because though we made reservations for 9pm on a Saturday night - they weren't necessary, as the place was empty! When I mentioned this to the server they said "must be because it's a long weekend Saturday night" (which of course wasn't the case as other restaurants on the block were packed).
The service was okay, but they got our appetizer order wrong (we ordered deep fried panko coated mozzarella sticks, and they brought out Caesar salad). When this was mentioned they grumbled that we were wrong (and then complained about having to eat it during their break). When they eventually brought out the correct dish, it was still close to frozen on the inside, so we had to send it back again. We finally received the right dish, but then our mains arrived and they were also cold and dry as they had been sitting in the kitchen while our appetizer order was being prepared. I had a flat iron steak which while cooked to medium rare was dry and tasteless, my husband had smoked chicken wings and ribs (why we originally chose this venue), which were room temp and dry as dust. At that point though we decided to cut our losses and just eat what we had.
One of the staff members was friendly and somewhat apologetic about the situation, but the other one was constantly dropping by our table to chat about the music that was playing (old school rock), to the point of being super annoying. When we got the bill we were surprised to see that they had charged us for the appetizer - something that we both thought should have been written off because of the numerous mistakes in preparing and getting it to us.
The venue itself is quite nice though - comfortable chairs, and well decorated, however this is not enough to make up for the lackluster meal and frankly I would not recommend this spot to anyone looking for a good dining experience.
Elvis waffles = heaven
