Had a wonderful experience at the Old school bar and kitchen! Staff were very helpful and friendly and the food was divine! Great selection of drinks and delicious hot chocolate! Will definitely be visiting again! Highly recommend.

An all round very good Sunday Lunch . Good atmosphere, friendly and helpful staff and excellent carvers with generous portions of beautifully cooked meat and lovely hot fresh veg selection, which can often be a let down with carvery style. Will certainly go again

We enjoyed a mixture of creative food and traditional fare - all of which was excellent. A good wine menu with it. The atmosphere is casual - a bar downstairs and some tables upstairs. We were just into the autumn/winter season, and so the choice was slightly more limited than the busier summer season - but still plenty of great things to try. We spent a relaxed couple of hours or so and would happily recommend if you enjoy a mix of creative/traditional food. We felt the prices were good value for the food we enjoyed. Its a little off the beaten track but worth the effort, in our opinion.

Very very quick service, we arrived a little early and were seated very quick. Starters and Mains were served and cleared within half an hour! Good if you were wanting a quick bite to eat, if out for a relaxed evening may have felt a little rushed. Mains could have been a little hotter and it was only warm, however the food tasted good! Great service and food tasted excellent. Would have been nice to be seated in the restaurant as the bar area was very loud, especially as we were after a relaxing dinner out, understandably though if they weren’t too busy would have made sense not to have opened the restaurant. Will probably return in the future, just hope the mains will be hotter! Thank you!

we ate here after playing golf in cornwall whilst staying in mount hawke and seeing the signs to the old school. The evening was really enjoyable and included chats with staff and owner, all of whom gave us every consideration. It felt like a happy place to work...as well as to eat. We wish it every success and would suggest that anyone who makes the effort will be rewarded. The local environment is in itself part of the experience. nick
