What Insiders Are Saying
Old Rose is a casual spot in the bottom of a hotel in the West Village where you can get some solid, affordable Italian/American food.
Good food. Way too loud
Went to celebrate a birthday and witnessed the staff bring a dessert to another table for a birthday (mistakenly- it was not their birthday). When we informed the staff we were celebrating a birthday, they asked if we would like to view the dessert menu.
Delicious food, spring salad was fantastic! Service was friendly and attentive.
Food was totally mediocre. Not a lot of people for brunch.
I had pizza. It was fine. The pleasant hubbub of noise as I approached the restaurant turned into loud noise as I sat down.
Probably great if you want to go as a group and shout over each other. Not so goo solo.
The service was excellent, great food, lovely location.
IThe food took longer that I expect but beside that it was very good. We ordered pizza an beers. It was very good
One of our best meals in NYC during our stay. The host was very charismatic and made the whole meal really enjoyable. We are still dreaming about the meatballs!
wonderful food, great atmosphere, noise is low for great conversation! 10/10 would recommend! :)
The loudest restaurant I've ever been in. Food was fine, seems like a good place for a large group or just a quick drink at the bar. I'd rather go to ABC Kitchen.
Service was not good, orders were all wrong and the food was mediocre at best.
Cutest, coziest place ever, food is delish and service is great
Lovely restaurant with amazing and sizeable food. Highly recommended.
The noise level was so ridiculously over-the-top that my two friends and I finally decided to cut it short and get out since our heads hurt. Also, while the food is usually good, I didn't appreciate being treated rudely when I first arrived by the gentleman at the door. I made a reservation for 3 and had an e-mail confirmation for 3. He's fussing about it no longer being 4. It never was 4. Either way, you don't make the customer feel badly about something and place blame on them when they first arrive.
Great cocktails, pasta and pizza in a beautiful old setting. After dinner make sure to check out the Jane hotel, lovely place
Cute restaurant, but come 1pm it is FILLED with early 20-something girls and becomes so loud that you can't even hear yourself think, let alone your friends that are right next to you.
The food was fine, nothing visionary to it. it won't change your life. Don't get the matcha iced though, otherwise you'll be sucking up bits of matcha powder the entire time, because it wasn't thoroughly blended in.
Came here with some girlfriends for dinner and we had a great time! The food was delicious, the service was great and the decor is beautiful!
Celebrated my birthday in the Old Rose. The place is beautiful...but overall it was not a great experience. The host was extremely rude. Did not allow my friends to get the table ahead of time even though the table was ready. I asked for a place to leave so flowers and he simply said put them at your table. Food was not great and some of the mains arrived 20min after the rest. We asked for a candle, they forgot. And finally they put a lot of trouble to pay with different cards.
Fine, but a bit over priced
So delicious and intimate! Would come for a first date or a dinner with family or even a girls night. Will definitely be back next time I'm in NYC.
Easter brunch, always great food and atmosphere!!
The restaurant was not able to honor the reservation. Had to wait additional 20 minutes for the reserved table. Was very loud and the restaurant feels mismanaged. Location was remote.
Note: I wouldn't say dishes are meant to be shared
Poor communication amongst staff. Limited food selection and poor taste. Waste of money.
I drove in from Long Island and I am happy to say I found parking on the street. That’s always a plus.
Food was very good. Vegetarian options were plenty. Service I felt was just ok. Had to ask for straws. Had to ask multiple times for things we wanted when there weren’t many people at the restaurant at the time we went. Overall I would try it again though. Ambiance was very nice. Was there for a friends get together.
The environment was nice, and had a nice view of of the river. Food and service were what you would expect from a spot where people go to be scene and take instagram shots.
Excellent service and food!
The place was dirty as was the staffs T-shirt’s and pants. Very unkempt from the front door all the way to the restroom.
The large mirrors above the bar were filthy and the window blinds were covered in dust.
In addition, hardware missing from the ceiling fans.
The space is beautiful but it is dirty.
This place is the perfect spot for a good gram, is a bit off the beaten path from the
A train, but it’s still pretty chic. The service is amazing as always, and the interior is beautiful, but I forget every time how terrible the food is. Pros and cons I guess!
Did the trick for a girls brunch in the city. The best part was the atmosphere. Would go back for drinks at the bar next time instead of a meal.
Friday evening was hopping! The wait staff is fantastic, the food was very good (special pizza, salads, dessert), and the atmosphere was very welcoming. It got quite noisy toward the end of our meal (we were three women of a certain age), so we repaired to the bar/lounge area in the hotel (fabulous), where one can order from a limited version of the restaurant menu.
Food was cold when it came out (two pasta dishes). Server was great and bread&cocktails were great.
Friendly service, nice setting, good food but extremely loud that communicating with people at your table was impossible
I loved the space and the service was terrific. One of the meals was not outstanding but the other was. All in all my go-to in the area.
Went for brunch. Put in our order waited a very long time. Had to get up to find waitresses to ask where our food was. She went to check and brought our food out but it was ice cold!told her she took it back and brought it back out 15 minutes later still cold. I asked her what the problem was and she said they were having a problem in the kitchen and comped 2 of the 3 meals.
We make it a point to go to the Old Rose every time we're in NYC. The Vodka pizza is delicious! And they make great drinks. Got dessert last time as well and that was delicious also! We always have a fun time there.
Food was good. Wait staff was great. We really enjoyed the whole thing.
Charming off the beaten path near the Whitney. Good value and service. A little noisy.
The pasta, arancini, and drinks were out of this world. Despite the busy crowd, our server was attentive and efficient and made our dinner super fun. Also, the Negronis on tap were surprisingly well-made; and I usually hate on-tap cocktails. Ambience in this place is perfection. Would highly recommend for a date spot or for a fun night out with friends. My only criticism would be that the pizzas were underwhelming, but everything else on the menu was phenomenal. Well worth a visit!
Hostess was very nice!
