We had a retirement lunch for our boss. The waitress was awesome, and I'm sorry I don't remember her name. Wine was very good and the food was excellent!! We had a wonderful time!
Great food, service and ambiance! A welcome experience after a long ride from Florida!
The food, ambiance, service - everything was phenomenal! Great place. We will definitely be back.
Great food. Very attentive, personalized service. Relaxed ambiance. Live music is a plus.
Delicious food, great atmosphere, great service. Enjoyed our meal and hope to go back!
My husband and I wanted to get away for the day, since I didn’t have to work. He read about this restaurant in a paper flyer. So we mad a day in Mt. Airy. This restaurant was a great surprise . Food was great and we had a delicious wine tasting after. We will definitely go back
Food and atmosphere were excellent. However, no one ever came to refill or ask if we even needed refills on any of our beverages. We had to actually at the end of our meal ask someone ourself for a refill on our beverage after waiting our entire meal without anyone checking. The restaurant was not even busy, there was probably only three other tables occupied at the time.
Everything was was wonderful! We always enjoy dining at the winery
The food was excellent. All 4 of us had the chicken salad with the fries or fruit . We were so very pleased with the serving size and presentation. Lots of food for our money.
We attended the First Sunday Brunch and the food was good but nothing was labeled. With a few things we did not know what we were eating. Service was not very good even for a buffet. I was served heavy cream instead of half / half with my coffee. We called to make a reservation and who ever answered did not know how to take a reservation and I never got a call back. Between the experience and just ok food it was not worth the price.
First visit and it was great. Our group had the salmon and sirloin entrees, and one had the chicken quesadilla. All were very good especially the salmon. There are more wines served than what was listed so be sure to ask. Didn’t have desserts as the servings were large. Will definitely return.
Really good food! You can tell everything is fresh. Great ambiance.
The perfect place for an amazing dinner in Mayberry. The Old North State Winery had great tastings wines and the list was interesting and well done. Our server was well informed, and explained the menu thoroughly...she also was friendly and not in any rush. It was a great evening...with music to follow.
I love ONS! Our food was delicious and I just love the old building. I went back the next day with girls for a glass if wine.
food was very good wine selection excellent. had a special evening tasting and that was great.
I took a great friend there for her birthday. Everything was awesome. The server (Sadie) was great! We have recommended you guys to everyone. Would love to come and test the wines. Looking forward to coming back.
Pros and cons here. Service was slow. The manager seemed more concerned with tasting his patrons’ wine offering and chatting the regulars up than helping anyone else. The server couldn’t keep our wine order right. The local wines were only adequate. There was a soft-shell crab special in the menu that was really good, but the fried green tomatoes were underripe, even for green tomatoes, and blandly seasoned. The fried oyster salad was mostly bacon! Weird. Nice relaxed ambience and a live singer. Overlit.
Wonderful service! Wonderful food! We enjoyed the wine tasting experience and was very appreciative that our waiter gave us a quick tour of the winery in the basement. Overall a very neat restaurant with a lot of character.
Delicious food!! We hIghly recommend this restaurant!
The food and service was outstanding! We liked that it was an old building that was restored.
Everything was good. Only complaint was that the flat bread pizza was on the soggy side for us.
ONS is a very nice place with good people and delicious food. We had Sunday lunch there and then did a wine tasting and tour. It was very nice!
Wonderful upscale place in downtown Mt Airy
Good food in a good atmosphere. It was a very charming place with a great wine selection. Make sure to look out for the "Chef's Table Experience" which offers a special menu with discussion of the menu by the chef.
Reserved a table and we arrived early and got seated right away. Server friendly and got us drinks. We decided to share a salad and entree. Wedge salad huge, enough for four and they split it in the kitchen which was nice. Nicely presented and was good. They served the entree at the same time as the salad which we thought was strange. We asked them to hold it till we finished our salad. The entree was plated nice on individual plates in the kitchen, but the steak was tough and even hard to cut with a serrated steak knife. The roasted vegetables, especially the carrots were mostly raw. I like my veggies somewhat crisp but these were hard to cut. Au gratin potatoes were ok. Server seemed to disappear and we waited awhile for the check
Great food, great bar and good live music! Would love to go back again!
We have eaten at Old North State Winery before, but they outdid themselves this Valentine's Day. My partner and I spent 2 nights at a local AirBnB and Valentine's night was so special! The four course meal was spectacular, each dish a work of art. The level of creativity was both visual and scrumptious tasting. Old North State has our vote!
Go, check it out
It was excellent as always! Great, friendly staff, excellent food and selection, great wine! Highly recommend visiting there!
Excellent food, a nice upscale spot where we don't have a lot of those kind of choices. Great atmosphere, reasonable prices, and very accommodating staff. Loved it! Will go back and try the chef's table!
Our night started with a fifteen minute wait for someone to come to our table to acknowledge we were there but it got really good from there. Once the waiter realized that we were there his service was excellent. The food was outstanding. We drive from Charlotte to spend an evening in mount Airy and the following day and we would drive back up just to eat dinner there
A very laidback, upscale environment. Extremely accommodating, super friendly, and educated staff. The food is expertly prepared and absolutely delicious. I highly recommend choosing ONS for your next stop in the search for all things awesome.
We went two nights in a row because we really enjoyed the food. The service, however, was terrible. Even asking three times for a water refill never got one.
Our group enjoyed a lovely evening at Old North State Winery. The food was creative and delicious and the service was outstanding.
Brought my parents and wife here for Christmas celebratory lunch. Never had been and wanted to try a new place where I grew up. Our server Sadie was awesome; very accommodating and knowledgeable. Went above to ensure our dining experience was nothing short of great.
Great place! Nice little find in the heart of Mount Airy, NC.
Very nice one of my favorite restaurants of all time!
This might be the nicest restaurant in town, based on locals and reviews. Food is artfully presented. Variety in the menu, something for everyone, several southern seafood items which was a bit odd so far away from the ocean. Scallops with pesto risotto good flavor, scallops cooked well, risotto not warm enough. Same with roasted vegetable risotto which had artichokes which surprised me and an under cooked large carrot. Side of Brussel sprouts flavored nicely with bacon and syrup but charred. Hard roll called for butter but came with oil and vinegar dip.
For the price, the food was very disappointing. My steak was supposed to be medium. Even the waiter gasped when I cut into in, and it was rare. When it came back the second time, it was still under cooked. At that point, my husband and I just switched dishes, rather than continue to ruin dinner by continuously sending my food back. I don't mind spending $25.00 for dinner (although being a school teacher, I rarely do it), but I expect good food. The positives were the wine and the chocolate torte.
Fish tacos are excellent as are the oysters Rockefeller. Need to improve craft beer selection.
