About Old Major
Old Major is Chef Justin Brunson's new home to deformalized fine dining in the heart of Denver's Highland neighborhood.
Taking its name from the tufted Middle White Boar that dreamt of rebellion, Old Major seeks to follow suit: rebelling against the ideas of what fine dining must be.
Boasting a dining room of corrugated steel and recovered lumber, the open, lofted room is the perfect place to enjoy chef Brunson's rustic, American farmhouse cuisine.
Offering dinner seven nights a week, the nose-to-tail menu offerings can be paired with either our focused, eclectic beer list or with our wine list featuring domestic & international selections.
Old Major's team includes some of the most talented cooks, servers, bartenders, cicerones and sommeliers to be found under one roof, all of whom are dedicated to bringing amazing experiences, night after night, to their regulars from around the block and to visitors from around the world.

Old Major Ratings and Reviews
The food was fantastic! I only wish I had more of an appetite to get more food. The food is pricey but it is quality. The service was Ok, but it was Valentine's Day so I gave that a pass since that day sucks in the service industry (I waited tables myself during that day). Overall great experience and will definitely be going back.
We actually had a pretty bad experience here on Valentines Day. The lobster poutine was overcooked and crusty charred and the charcuterie plate we had was not well put together. Our waitress was really bad with service leaving us empty handed on multiple occasions. Very unfortunate for a much anticipated Valentines dinner reservation :(
Sunday brunch with a friend. Service was good up until we needed a few more minutes to look at the menu since it was the first time dining there for the each of us. Our server had forgotten we didn't order and was apologetic after we had to wave her down. Not a big deal, but then she brought out the wrong order. My friend had the fried chicken sandwich and I had ordered the crab and shrimp omelette, but was served the crab and shrimp benedict. It looked great and I would have settled, but I wasn't feeling like bread and hollandaise sauce that day. Again, our server apologized and my omelette came out under 15 minutes. Several minutes later our server stopped by to deliver a side of bacon. We told her we didn't order bacon but would graciously accept it as complimentary and she gladly obliged. Judge what you will of this service experience.
As for the food, my friend felt her fried chicken sandwich was pretty good. Not outstanding but not meh either. Being in Denver, I wasn't expecting my crab and shrimp omelette to be overflowing with crab and shrimp, but enough to warrant the $20 price tag. It wasn't. There was however, a good 1/3 to a 1/2 of diced avocado. I love avocado, but, it was almost....almost, too much.
We both agreed that our food was lacking a little boldness but was remedied by the hot sauces they brought out.
The bourbon cream coffees were a treat. The breakfast potatoes were the perfect texture of well seasoned, crunch on the outside and soft starch on the inside.
High quality food - fun ambience. Although the food was really good, we struggled to balance the meal with lighter and heavier small plates. Most items were heavier - even the Brussels sprouts were substantial (very tangy, a lot going on). We were two and ordered 4 small plates and felt like we over-ordered. The overall quality was notable and the house made charcuterie excellent.
Service was very poor. Took around 30 minutes just to get a round of drinks. They also are very clear about "not seating incomplete parties" and "only
Holding your reservation for 15 minutes" when you make a reservation. However we had a 11:45 reservation and were not seated until 12:15. Also drinks food and everything took a vey long time. Thankfully we didn't have anywhere to be or we would have fully been late. Way better option in Denver. Save your time
A disappointing evening at OM. Waiting for drinks at the bar and the table was not a good start. These pre dinner drinks make revenue improve FYI. The food was good when it arrived, but a couple of dishes were cold and arrived late for that course. The Main dishes arrived an hour late. Reservations at 8pm dinner served at 9:40. I get that it’s Saturday night, but make sure your bar, wait staff and boh is set up for success. The bottom line is the food was good, but service, warmth of dishes, and attention to basic detail/knowledge the menu was poor. We love our Denver restaurants and chefs...but get it together or you and the growing operations will fail to get return guests and recommendations.
We went for late after dinner drinks for my friend's birthday and it's a perfect place to sit and order a great craft cocktail and relax with a good friend to catch up and people watch. The ambiance is inviting and the service is great. I always love this neighborhood haunt because it has great personality and makes any nightcap fun.
This was a first dining experience at Old Major with friends. We ordered from the shared plates as well as the entrees and side dishes and the culinary experience was absolutely exceptional! Even the wine recommended by our waiter was outstanding. The service was amazing - our waiter made a point of striking up a conversation with our kids, just enough to keep them engaged and entertained. Several staff served our plates up hot and fresh and straight out of the kitchen making sure everything was perfect before they set it in front of us. I couldn't have felt more important if I were Scarlett Johanssen. What a treat! Also LOVED the rustic feel of the place - unpretentious and still outstanding!
We had our first date a year ago in the bar area. When I called to see if we could have a table in the bar area and explained why they made special note of it and brought us two glasses of bubbles to start our meal. The charcuterie is a standout here, but we were delighted by the exquisite butterscotch dessert. It was decadent! Thanks Old Major for a memorable evening. We will indeed be back in a year and hopefully sooner!
We loved our visit to Old Major! We felt special for a birthday celebration with some bubbly before dinner. Our server was very attentive to our questions, and she coursed our food well. We were never without attentiveness and friendly service. We loved the menu! Every bit of food we had was absolutely delicious! We will certainly be back.
This restaurant is just awesome. We have been going there for years and I think the menu now may be one of the best Chef J has ever assembled. Lots of choices. Service is great, especially Caleb. Management is friendly and accommodating, with Gene and Mary running a superb establishment. They also just added a private dining room which looks great. Highly recommend this place.
Old Major has been a solid dinner choice for a long time. We enjoyed a great meal and ordered lots of options to share and taste. Was most surprised by the new menu item - octopus. Have never loved octopus, but this was so yummy - melt in your mouth with a little zippy sauce on the side. Loved the charcuterie as well - skip the cheese add on - it's just one hunk of cheese. The meat is way better and then you have room for other things like the brussel sprouts. Yum!
