Taking its name from the tufted Middle White Boar that dreamt of rebellion, Old Major seeks to follow suit: rebelling against the ideas of what fine dining must be.
Old Major offers lunch, dinner, happy hour and brunch, along with private dining and off-site catering options with dishes starting at $12. The full bar features a creative cocktail program, craft beer & wine.
What Insiders Are Saying
If you’re going to do Old Major, do it for an afternoon happy hour on the patio.
presentation beautiful ambience quite nice food was ok at best. scallops seared on one side only as well as my halibut wine was way over priced
This is the second time I've been to Old Major. My family was up for eating out last minute on a Saturday and I was able to get a reservation. The food is similar in quality to what we had the first time around. But the portions seemed to be smaller this time, especially for the price for some of the dishes. The charcuterie and cheese was tiny. Otherwise, overall still pretty happy with the meal. The highlight was the pot de creme dessert.
Went for mother’s day brunch. Nothing we had was remarkable. Waffles tasted like frozen, chicken was oily and fatty. Benedict’s were alright. Bloody Marys were so-so. Not sure why all the brunch items come with the same, lame salad...? $200 for four people (tip included) for a mediocre meal.
Outstanding service. Menu had a variety of small plates and entrees that caught our eye. The dishes we ordered were well executed... particularly the scallops, the nose to tail and the lamb carpaccio. Looking forward to returning for brunch soon.
We've been to Old Major multiple times for happy hour and brunch and have had great experiences. We visited tonight for dinner and had a terrible experience. The service was not only incredibly slow and inattentive (our server visited our table three times the entire meal- once to put in drinks once to put in our meals and once to ask if we wanted dessert, he never came over to ask if we wanted another drink, never asked how our meal was, never asked if we needed anything else, and had essentially nothing to say about the menu) we had another waitstaff member react incredibly rudely and sarcastically when one of the guests asked if the restaurant had bread for the table. While the food was very delicious - when you are spending $40 on an entree you expect the atmosphere and service to deliver as well. I can say that we will not be visiting Old Major again any time soon and I can think of much better establishments to have a $300 dinner.
They butcher a pig and make their own meats. Amazing quality but very small portions. I think I need 2 plates to get full of everything. A good spot to talk with friends and have drinks.
The biggest surprise was having such a knowledgeable and most likable waiter named Caleb. He definitely made our experience more fun and his information helped us choose well. We knew the food would be excellent because we had been there before, and it was prepared with the same care as last time. Caleb set us up for a good time and a good time was had by all. The other staff was good and attentive as well. Caleb is one of a kind.
I really liked it. Try the charcuterie board and oysters - they are delicious!
Amazing experience. The food was incredible, beautiful presentation and the most fun and attentive team. Would go back every time I’m in Denver!
We had a great meal and wonderful service! We would definitely return again!
We had a reservation at 11:30am, and once we were sat we waited 20 minutes until finally getting the attention of a server to help us. The food was decent but service was very slow. Once we had a server he was attentive to us throughout the meal.
Great food and service! We will be back!
Amazing restaurant with great food, drinks , and one of the most knowledgeable waiters I've ever met. Their dishes are very simple dishes that are raised to the Nth level. The drink list, while pricey, is worth the cost, as they really know what they are doing. We had a group of 6 for a guys weekend/mini-reunion, and this was by far the best dining experience of the trip - definitely our splurge night.
It was a nice, comfortable setting with attentive but not overbearing service. The food was delicious, especially the hanger steak and bread pudding. Tasty cocktails, too! I’m not sure what it was, but the strawberry rhubarb cobbler was inedible. We let them know, they took it back to the kitchen to taste it and said it’s how it’s supposed to be. They took it off our bill with no fuss, but that was pretty odd.
Service started out strong, but tapered off during the meal. Order was not correct upon receiving, and it was corrected but new order came out looking smaller and “sad” compared to the original. Disappointing experience overall.
It may be our age, as I believe we were the oldest in the restaurant, but two things stood out to us. First, the level of noise made it difficult to hear someone across the table, but second, for the price of the beef that we purchased, I was disappointed by the gristle and general toughness of the piece of meat we had. It was done to perfection and the peruvian potatoes were excellent, but the meat was tough, and thus a bit disappointing.
Such a disappointment.
Slow, flat service. Took about 45mins from walking in to ordering dinner.
The restaurant wasn’t very busy.
Food was not exceptional. My husbands rabbit bucatini was overly salty.
Not special enough to come back.
I have been coming here for years, and it continuous to impress and surprise me. Would absolutely recommend to those looking for a one of a kind experience!
A wonderful experience to celebrate Easter with family friends. The service was excellent and the food never disappoints.
An amazing experience from the front of the house to the back of the house. Everything we ate or drank was absolutely delicious. They explained every meal to us. Servers were fantastic and kept on replacing new dish ware for the new food that would be served.
Give this place 5 stars
My wife loved the French Toast. My ala carte eggs over easy, bacon & potatoes were expertly prepared.
Celebrating a new job
We had a reservation Friday night, 4/19 at 6:30. We were seated quickly but no service for 10-15 minutes. When he finally arrived it took another 10-15 minutes for a beverage to get to the table. Dinner was not served till 7:45. Appetizers were good, side dishes were good. The dry aged steaks were tough and very fatty. Halibut was done ok. Bit over charred on the outside. We have been waiting to go for months. Very disappointed.
Food is okay, but far overpriced. Service was extremely slow.
The physical plant is not all that inviting, but the food and service more than made up for it. Read a prior review about the tastefulness and crispiness of the fried chicken - it was spot on. The salads, oysters and the other offerings were unique and outstanding, as well as, the wine and beer options. Great place - we'll be back.
We had a nice meal here. I plan to return. The pork was absolutely fantastic.
The salad to start was one of the best I ever had and the meal was the best
We had to wait for 40 minutes for our reservation.
We’ve been to Old Major twice and both times the food was delicious. So far we have only ordered starters, small plates, and sides. We usually make a shareable meal with our family of 4. The Fried Chicken has been perfectly cooked (you will have dreams craving it), Pork Fat Fries are delicious, and the Korean Short Ribs were great as well. The Ham & Biscuits and Cacio de Pepe are my Childrens favorite. Did I mention the dessert? The Butterscotch Pot de Creme will leave your family fighting for the last bite. The Restaurant was super relaxed and the service was friendly from the Host to the Server. We definitely cannot wait to come back and try more!
Not our first visit. Just as good as always. Love OM
Food was amazing and so was the wait staff. However we were seated for our reservation almost 30 min after the reservatiom.
Food here was really great! Our server was MIA for awhile after we got the food and needed some pepper and ketchup, which was a bit frustrating. Overall this is a cute place in a nice neighborhood with good food. A little over priced along with noisy.
What a fun new place to try in Denver! My daughter and I went for brunch and the food was very good! I had the brioche french toast with blueberries and a lemon creme sauce - oh my - yum!
My daughter had the eggs benedict and they were awesome as well! The service was great from the host to the waiter. Everyone was friendly and the unique style of the place fun to look at. A little pricey but great food and service is what counts!
Such a great experience! Server was great and super knowledgeable! We dined out of our comfort zone and it sure paid off! Will be back!
Great neighborhood spot for meat lovers! Quality tasting food combined with excellent cocktails. A busy, bustling place - even with reservations we had to wait approximately 30 mins before we were seated. Great service, attentive staff. Would definitely return for a special occasion!
Excellent experience as always. Caleb was a great server and the 60 day aged KC Strip was phenomenal.
The sauce on their green beans and ribs is way too salty. Also, what’s up with that weird way to cut the ribs? It makes them dry and tough.
We really like the decor and ambience and the service is always excellent. I just wish there a few more healthier options on the brunch menu.
Fabulous pork, great sides, the charcuterie board was good however very expensive for what you get.
Sunday brunch doesn’t get any better. Loved the bottomless mimosas and everyone’s food was amazingly delicious. Highly recommended!!
