Old Lady Gang
I'm in love with this restaurant Mamma Joyce and her sister make you feel like family. I did take 2 stars away for having to pay to park on their lot. That's not cool!
Our waitress Z was excellent. The food was ok. The friend chicken could have used some seasoning and the Mac n cheese tasted like it was made on the stovetop. I may return to try a different entree
The service was their best asset. Without the service, I would have given it a 2. Unfortunately, the grits were terrible. Not cooked at all. Had to send the entire plate back. I hated to do that. I ordered a side of extra shrimp with my grits, and had to ask for the extra shrimp, after I pointed out twice that there were barely any in the dish. Again, our server was very gracious and apologetic, which made the experience great.
The shrimp was flavorful, as was the salmon sliders. Everything else was just food and eating out. Nothing memorable. I Support all black owned businesses, so for that, I say go. But if you are a foodie, and enjoy a truly unique and delicious meal, fo elsewhere. I hate to say it, but truth is worth more in weight than gold... this restaurant would likely not be in business long, if not for the 'celebrity' aspect of it. Cute lower level, and quaint upper level seating. Just nothing special about it. You can cook everything from the menu at your own home.
It was our first time visiting OLG. Although we did show up very later than our reservation , we were still able to get seated within 15 minutes , so I definitely appreciate that... but then the problem was waiting for our food. We arrived at 3:30, got seated at 3:45, ordered our drinks and food at the same time, almost immediately.. the drinks came within minutes (the best peach sweet tea ever) , the appetizer (fried deviled eggs) came kind of soon .... then our main entrees came at literally 4:45. I had to be at the airport no later than 5:15 so I started to worry about missing my flight , you know how Atlanta traffic is, luckily it was only 15 minutes away. But that whole hour gap to wait for food was completely ridiculous. The food was good but not worth waiting an hour for. Our server was kind but did not apologize or give us a reason why it took an hour to make lamb chops & fried chicken ... I would come back , with better planning, but my partner is completely against it.
We came in from the basement which had a terrible mildew smell. Once we got to our table upstairs the smell wasn't up there which was great. Once our food was brought out it took longer than it should have for us to receive our silverware. Finally when they brought the silverware one of the rolls only had a fork, no knife so we had to share a knife. I had ben wanting to try the restaurant as I am a big fan of the owners, however, I don't ever have to go back.
CUSTOMER SERVICE WAS HORRIBLE. WE HAD RESERVATIONS AND HAD TO WAIT AND THEN THEY FORGOT ABOUT US AND WE NEVER GOT TO BE SEATED. I WAS TRULY DISAPPOINTED; AND I MADE THIS APPOINTMENT 1 MONTH AGO FOR MY BIRTHDAY.
I came from New Orleans for a little getaway with my husband and we had to stop at OLG. And I was not disappointed at all... the food was phenomenal especially the salmon!! The only thing I would say bothered me was the size of the ribeye. For $29 It was entirely to thin for that amount and I am a steak lover.
But overall the experience of each dish was delicious and amazing.
I had reservations and sat pretty quickly. I’m a heavy set girl and those metal yellow chairs so super uncomfortable. Tables were small. I waited over an hour for my food. Salmon was great but my potatoes were cold and my spinach was a mix of half fresh half warmed over spinach. Some was even visible fresher and the rest was soggy. Cornbread was hard and dry. Jiffy mix would have yielded a better cornbread muffin. Yams were really good but friend chicken wasn’t seasoned and after being told I was waiting so long for chicken it should have tasted MUCH better. Collard greens were from a can-Glory turkey flavors to be exact. True southern cooking-you hand cut collards and cook them slow and omit the excessive hard stems.
The food and the service were amazing
Great experience took over 30 minutes to receive my meal ( salad)
This was one of the worst dining experiences I have ever had. The food took over 2 hours to come out and when it did it was cold. We sent the food back to have it come out cold again. I will not be recommending this restaurant to anyone and I will not be returning.
I had a 5:45 reservation I arrived about 15 to 20 minutes early and was told there is a 20 min wait even though there were empty tables. I was fine with the wait as I was early for my reservation. We went to the waiting room next door as I was informed to do so and wait for a txt to my phone to inform me that the table was ready. After plenty of pictures I looked at the time and noticed that it was now passed my reservation time so we decided to go into the actual restaurant and wait there. The hostess that was there asked if we can be helped and I informed her we were just waiting for the txt stating that the table was ready. She asked me how many in my party and when I mentioned two she quickly seated us which really shocked me. As I stated before there was already plenty of seating and don't know why or how I waited so long to be seated. Thank god the food and ambiance was good or else my experience here would have been the worst ever.
I've been to OLG once before and my experience was amazing. The first time I went at a later time in the evening and I was able to eat outside and enjoy a live performance from a local ATL artist. It was wonderful. My second experience was not as great. I took my mom out for her birthday a little after 5p and I was immediately disappointed to know that they were out of a few side items. Our entrees came out before the appetizer and they were not hot or fresh. The food was luke-warm in temperature and the appetizer arrived about 15mins later and in contrast to the entree it was hot and fresh. The taste of the food was good and the service was impeccable. My experience would've been a lot better if the food was fresher and if all the side items were in stock, which was a bit odd to me because it was not busy at all.
This is an everyday soul food establishment. The meats are served hot, sides are cold. They ran out of white meat Chicken at 5p. Staff is disengaged. With the exception of Eloise.
You will definitely feel like you eating at you aunties house.
Great Experience‼️ Great Food‼️
My “Old Ladies” & I thoroughly enjoyed ourselves‼️
We made a reservation for a specific # of people, but because everyone did not show up they refused to seat us in the original section. The manager was rude and didn’t even come and speak with us when we about the reservation. The food was just average. I gave 2 stars because the waitress was very attentive and very professional and accommodating.
I was really excited to celebrate my birthday at the OLG. Wasn’t planning on paying $10 to park there, the waitress never brought my sweet tea but charged me, had to ask for my corn bread and when I did receive it, it was well done
The food was extremely cold like it was cooked early in the day and warmed up when we ordered it. Servers were placing the wrong food on tables. The service was extremely bad and we always come to OLG when we are in town.
Deviled eggs were old. I didn’t receive part of my order and when the bill came the part of my order I didn’t get was on the bill. Waitress was horrible. Rude and never apologize for all the errors. I will never go back. Missed up my birthday celebration
Just ok. Nothing to break your neck to get too. Fried deviled eggs has a great flavor but are like rubber.
We were in the city for a birthday girls trip. Having visit once before we brought the new friends to experience the spot
we had an amazing experience. the food, the ambiance, the drinks, and then meeting kandi just made our trip. will definitely be back again
Our reservation was honored even though we were 10 minutes late. So grateful for that!! Our server was knowledgeable, friendly and efficient. 4 people in my party (myself included) received warm food. Not hot enough to be great or cold enough to complain.... just warm. The atmosphere was lively and the place was packed! I'd come back for lunch during the week when I don't expect it to be busy.
Visit to Atlanta. OLG was a must during my trip. The food was delicious! I sat upstairs. I was told celebrities sit downstairs! I will definitely visit the next time I am in Atlanta. Thank you!
Didn’t wait long for my food but it was cold when it came. Had to send it back but the new fresh food was very good. Triple thumbs up
To the sweet potatoe pie yams.
Visited Atlanta and went to OLG! I heard so many great things about the restaurant and wanted to see for myself. One of the famous Aunts (owners) was there and she was the sweetest lady ever and showed us true southern hospitality. The food was sooo good!! I highly recommend the deep fried deviled eggs, catfish strips, Mac n’ cheese and fried chicken and waffles. I highly recommend and will definitely go back when I am in Atlanta!
Our server Kera was fantastic!!! She could not have done a better job!! Everything we ordered had a great taste, however, a few of the items were served warm. But our service was so great we didn’t dare complain!! On arrival, Ms. Nora greeted us with the warmest smile and hugs!! She really made it as if you were going to your aunts home for a Sunday dinner. I have been on several times, but the rest of my crew had never been and was not interested in going because they thought people only went because of the show. However, their minds have been changed and they have asked me several times when are we going back!! Great job Old Lady Gang Team,
Food was great. Service could be improved. Waited entirely too long for service. Although we made reservations weeks in advance it did not feel like our visit was anticipated.
Over an hour just for two appetizers Two hours for our main courses fried chicken was burnt two hours for a salad with only chicken on it. Greens no flavor at all Bbq chicken was tooo soft like it was baked or fried enough horrible just terrible
I was visiting from Ohio I was surprised by it did not look like it appeared on TV. The waiting area left a lot to be desired. Our reservation was at 4 we did not get seated until 4:30 . I would only recommend just to say I been there.
It was amazing the best servers ever I love the food and everything
The food was seasoned good but was not fresh. We waited an hour for salads after being seated. There was a family there extremely loud and was addressed once by staff. We was seated downstairs and was a molded smell. I will not return or share word
The food was excellent went back twice in one weekend because the catfish bits were delicious. Didn’t care much for the fried chicken, it was a little bland. Lamb chops EXCELLENT
Someone was heavy handed with the salt! The Fried Deviled Eggs were over cooked and hard/rubbery. We were told that we had to wait for 1 hour to 1 1/2 hours to be seated!! I told him that we had a reservation twice before he even bothered to look online and SEE the booking. Smh they were going to put us in the basement in a corner until I stated, I don't think so!! I was on a cane and not doing any stairs. I give it a 5 star rating only because it's a black owned up and coming business and we need to see more of us doing great things! Go Family!!
The food was good, and my waitress was doing an awesome job at first. I didn't like the fact that she came back after I gave her a $10 tip, and asked me for more money. Very unprofessional, and ghetto workers. I probably want be returning
I came to OLG from Chicago for my birthday on September 7th. The hostess was the 1st person we saw as we entered the restaurant and she was not at all friendly. She was the girl with the blonde crimped weave bob with the middle part. She walked away as soon as we came in and did not come back to greet us. We stood there for about 4 to 5 mins and the girl with the blonde hair came over who btw still said nothing and looked at the register. Finally, a nice young lady walked up behind her and greeted us and took us downstairs to be seated. We were seated a one of the high boys, the seats were so close together we barely had elbow room to eat and was basically on top of the people sitting next to us. We then had to ask to be moved because the tables were not leveled and rocked back and forth very badly. The seats and tables are very cheaply made. Once seated however, our waitress was extremely nice (wish I would’ve gotten her name) . When it was time for our food to come my date got his entire meal and only the sides came for mine. I waited 15 minutes and still the rest of my food was not out. I had to ask for the waitress to take sides back as they were getting cold and just bring fresh sides once my catfish was done. She came back about 10 minutes later with my entire meal. My food was very good and I enjoyed every bite. The waitress apologized for what happened and said she spoke to management about this and they were not willing to accommodate us for the service. Like really?! Who does Kandi have in charge running this place smh! Loved the food but dissatisfied with the service 😕
My meal wasn't satisfying. I ordered fish & grits. The fish was good, the grits were not. I didn't like that they dont offer a kid's menu. You have to order a full "adult" meal for a child. The wait was awful! We had a 3:00 reservation. We got there 30 minutes early & still wasnt seated until after 3:30. Almost everyone else is our party enjoyed their food, so I would recommend this restaurant to a friend.
I had a good time but very limited vegetarian options even the fried green tomatoes had meat on them.
