The food was excellent. Great service. Would recommend for any occasion. The kobe burger was outstanding.
Great service, food was amazing. We were late for our reservation, coming from a Yankee game. They were very accommodating.
Outstanding service! Food was awesomel
Girls trip and dinner out. Fantastic food, service and it was an amazing experience. I will definitely recommend again.
I have mixed feelings on this place. Overall our meal was good but there were several irritants that cut down the overall level of the experience.
Cocktails were good and served quickly.
The waiter was very dismissive and did not communicate well. We wondered if he 'read us wrong' and thought we might not be spending enough money to be worth his time.
We ordered cocktails and a nice bottle of wine & his attitude changed up a little.
The wine list was limited and priced generally 3 and 4 times retail price making it expensive by standards for what you get.
The noise level was almost intolerable but we could still have conversation. .it was not 'energetic' noise but crashing of dishes into the dirty dish bin and loud conversations throughout the restaurant.
It was NOT a relaxing and upscale feel at all.
The food was all good, nothing disappointed us at all. Everything looked exactly like the pictures on various review sites.
We wanted prime rib but they were out on a Friday night at 8:00 so we asked for a T-bone.
Two of us had shared 4 appetizers and a caesar salad. We were going out afterwards and also wanted dessert so we felt that splitting a single steak and 3 sides was more than enough food.
We were told there was only 1 choice of T-Bone but it was a large porterhouse which was $120... we did not know this and had asked for a single T-Bone.. which later I read WAS on the menu at about $60 or so.
So our waiter came across as dismissive, shady and inattentive.
I suppose that's how he makes his money.
If we could do this over again, we would be more clear in communication about what we wanted and tolerate less in the way of marginal service.
All in all this place has decent food and would have been better if we had a better waiter.
The other higher end steakhouses tend to be more expensive, it's harder to get a reservation so this is an ok substitute but for 3 people we still spent over $600. and that is not a good value for what we got.
Always top notch!! Drinks at the bar and dinner to follow service, food , was great friendly staff Old Homestead never disappoints. Slab bacon and crabmeat cocktail to start 40 day aged rib eye for 2 hash browns cream spinach. Loved every bite! And stop by the bar ask for a old fashioned. Good stuff. Enjoy!
The filet mignon burger was amazing! The sides were excellent as well. The chocolate cake not so much.
I totally agree with an earlier reviewer - Dinner was mainly spoiled by half the customers who were dressed like homeless people. Total slobs. Ill fitting T-shirt’s , backwards ball caps - Even if the food was great - which it isn’t - the atmosphere is not one of celebration or class or occasion. The staff seemed overworked and service perfunctory. The one in Vegas is much better in every way.
The best Kobe Beef I've ever had.
Much more than I expected for.
Steak was lovely. We shared the porterhouse for two, rare, the creamed spinach and sautéed mushrooms. Spinach and mushrooms were great. The steak was more what I would call “blue” in that the center was still cold. But the meat was so good it just melted in the mouth. We did not have dessert but did share a half bottle of Malbec, which was fine.
Consistently Good food, and good customer service. Nice ambience.
We had a variety of appetizers. They were OK but a little too delicate for a steakhouse. The steaks were cooked as we had ordered but the quality of the meat was lots what we expected. Overall there are far better steak houses for the money in New York
Service & food were, as expected - wonderful! We got porterhouse for 2 which was cooked perfectly. Great spot for a martini. Wedge salad is a classic, as is the bacon slice.
Only issue was person at neighboring larger group table was seated with his chair literally against our table. We asked & had our table shifted a few inches further away, but he somehow used that space to push back his chair even more. I wish server had made the other guest move- it out a damper on my husband’s dining experience. That would’ve made it a 5 star rating!!
I mentioned it was our anniversary when making the reservation and we were seated in a wonderful corner table and were served by one of the nicest waiters ever. The entire team was extremely attentive and professional. The head waiter helped us decide on the cut of meat and patiently explained our choices. The only mistake was ours as we were not attentive to the detailed descriptions of the level of cook on the steak and ordered it too rare for my wife’s preference.
To top a wonderful service off, the waiter brought us a delicious chocolate cake with a candle to commemorate our Anniversary. Very thoughtful!
Appetizers and soup were good. Very disappointed with service and wagyu beef. Beef was tough and almost all fat-not marbled like good wagyu. Since visiting Japan my wife and I have been sampling wagyu at a number of restaurants and found the quality of Old Homesteads lacking. Crab, and lobster soup were good, but nothing at all about this restaurant was outstanding.
Best waiter! Sarko thanks for a great afternoon 😊
Easter dinner. Food was great but portions could have been bigger.
Come hungry! Portions are large- Prime rib can feed 2 people. The service is attentive and friendly. Will definitely visit this NYC landmark again.
Delicious food! This was our second time and would highly recommend!
Cocktails were great, wine was excellent, food was good, table service was OK, but after leaving a $60 tip I would have expected the waiter to at least say thanks and goodbye.
The steaks are more expensive than other steakhouses in the city and are not at the same quality level.
The best thing about this restaurant is the location.
Great food and venue, shame about the loud drunk idiot sat on the next table.
Great Rib Eye and seafood tower. Nothing else I can say that hasn't been said before. OH is the goto when in the NYC and AC.
I have gone to this establishment since the 1980s. Food flavors are slacking; their service use to be impeccable , but now, they all need a course in hospitality. It can’t be a fine dining experience when the servers forget to serve bread. The manager has no American steak house hospitality skills, border patronizing and rude. If you have $300 to spend in a steak dinner look else where.
The steak was great.
Old Homstead deserves its place amongst the best NYC steakhouses. Porterhouse was delicious. French fries came out hot and crispy. Cream spinach excellent. Cocktails very good. Beer on draft poor selection. Only IPA in a bottle was goose island. Service was excellent.
We went here after seeing an online video and reading about the restaurant. It was a late birthday celerbtation and did not disappoint. The atmosphere is amazing and the staff were friendly and efficient. It all felt effortless and the food is phenomenal is the only way to describe it. A true New York experience
We arrived on time, but seat wasn’t immediately ready. Steaks were slightly bland. The bacon got smaller and over-sweetened from the last time I was here. The asparagus was slightly over-cooked. At this price point and name recognition, I expect exceptional and consistent quality. I much prefer Del Frisco, Sparks, and Maestro over Homestead.
Amazing! Really recommend it. Exceptional meat and wine.
Wonderful food. Great service. Had a great time. Our new favorite. Thanks.
Burger was overrated. Too large and not that great.
Great. Kobe burger is the best burger I've tried ever !
The food was great. Steak done right! Get the bacon wrapped filet mignon. It doesn't disappoint.Service was good too. Classic old school New York joint. Expect to enjoy.
The Old Homestead is an outstanding establishment with an excellent menu and okay service.
Great service! The steaks are cooked to perfection. My second time here. I think I will be going to this restaurant every time I’m in the city.
Homestead is an awesome place to dine no matter if you dine in New York or Vegas! Love this place and owners are really nice people.
Food was wonderful and the wait staff and service outstanding!
the woman who was charging of reception was bad.
It was best friends birthday and he wanted to get steaks and drinks. We have already done del frisco & Keens. A friend recommend old homestead and we were not disappointed. We ordered the slab of bacon as an appetizer and the dry age porterhouse for 2, we were not disappointed
We had a great experience. Real New York no frills steak house that keeps it real.
Dined with friends that all grew up in the city and everyone agreed this was a great meal with excellent service.
