This dining experience was 2nd to none. From the service to the music that was playing, it was Tier 1. The lamb was perfect and the wine selection is impeccable.
Had a great time and the food was fantastic! Perfect spot to celebrate our anniversary
Delicious anniversary dinner with great service!
Went to OH for the steaks which didn’t disappoint but the French fries were dry. They must’ve been in the freezer for a very long time then fried. All in all was a great meal just not ordering the fries next time.
I searched “top ten NYC steakhouses” and found Old Homestead. I was in charge of making plans for my friends b-day, and set the reservation up at this place. I was so embarrassed when we arrived . This place is a run down mess. The food is ok , but the overall experience is an immature , loud and drunk crowd in a run down venue. I would compare this place to a diner.
Fantastic steak ( taste, flavor, service, side dish ) everything is perfect. but the high price is only weak point.
Next visit to New York. I also go to Homestead steak house .
Our table was ready as soon as we arrived (with reservations via Open Table). Ambiance is very nice, great service, excellent steaks! We both had the Legendary Ribeye- one medium, one medium-well… both were tender and cooked to perfection! The garlic mashed potatoes were delicious and not overly garlicky. We shared a slice of the infamous chocolate cake and it was amazing. It’s not quite as “heavy” as it looks in pics and although we were full, we were able to eat all of it. The meal is slightly on the expensive side, but still reasonable in my opinion - the experience and the food is well worth it.
We had the ribeye for two and the lamb. Both were excellent.
Server spilled my beer all over the table and seat pouring it.
He also questioned double zero Heineken was actually a one zero and maybe I asked for it incorrectly twice.
Steak was average minus
A guy joined a table across from us and screamed talking it was so loud and piercing We could not have a normal conversation ourselves.
My fries were not delivered as ordered “crispy” they were barely cooked.
Not a fan
Not great service but a pleasant atmosphere. Food good but $550 for 4 without wine seems high. Would go somewhere else next time
This is a classic and staple of NYC! I had very high expectations because of the reputation of the restaurant. The server was a tenured server who knew the menu but neglected to tell us anything about it. We asked for a suggestion and he gave us one. I would have appreciated a bit more interaction with us, but I also understand that he was busy and had other tables in his section. The food was fine, but nothing I couldn’t get elsewhere with more personable service. If someone invites me back I would be happy to come back, but I won’t be rushing back here.
Food was presented well but steak was cold and not done well at all. My son had the fm hamburger and loved it.
Steak was cool when it arrived. Cold a minute later. Enough said.
The prime rib was perfect!
What a pleasant surprise as we explored FlatIron, a truly traditional steakhouse with selections and portions of a bygone era. It was wonderful, and the people who work there are so very nice.
Food, ambiance and wait staff
/ service just made me feel like it was targeted to the tourist. I won’t be returning or recommending.
More inclined to spend my dollars and special occasions at Keen’s and Strip House.
For the amount of money you spend at this restaurant you would expect the food and especially the service to be worth it, very sorry we decided to celebrate a special occasion here.
The food was delicious. Service outstanding! Greater waiters in NYC
Waiting staff wasnt so friendly. I had gotten the A5 waygu steak $350 the price was fine but the crust on steak tasted like it was bathed in popcorn.. wasnt worth it i thought. Rib eye on bone my mother and girlfriend got delicious.. mac and cheese sub-par too..
Steak was cooked perfectly, but under-seasoned. If I'm going to be spending that much for a cut of meat, I'd expect there to be some seasoning or at minimum salting of the meat prior to it hitting the pan.
Been going here since I'm 15, food is consistently great, still some of the best steaks in the city
Only minor point was our server wasn't as attentive as she could have been. But individuals are always a chance, not enough to not go or recommend
Great food better service. Come early when it’s empty for a quiet date.
Underseasoned food. Server Nelson was extremely slow. Disappointed.
Was very underwhelmed by the food and service. There’s a detailed review on Yelp
Overall, the restaurant isn't bad but our waiter wasn't up to par. We dine out A LOT and we have both positive and negative experiences, most of which lies with our interaction with the waiter. Every restaurant owner should understand that the bulk of the customer's review is at the mercy of the waiter/waitress and hiring people who are incapable of connecting with customers is a huge problem.
The waiter slammed items on the table, reached over people, his tone at times was curt and overall, did not give us a positive experience. Since we were in a smaller section to ourselves (at first) We asked the waiter to turn off the A/C upon entry because it was so cold and we had a baby with us. Moments later we had to put the baby's coat on. My eldest daughter also asked to switch seats with me to avoid getting hit with the cold air.
It was our first time there, perhaps it was a one-off day but it doesn't leave us with a desire to return.
Thank you! We enjoyed family dinner! Great food and service as well. Beautiful place
Best service I ever had!!
Monster ribeye for 2 is amazing, plus clams and carpaccio are a great way to start the meal.
Amazing as always !!!
Love this place. Obviously it isn't a cheap night out, but so what! The food is awesome and well worth it. We got the garlic bread, meat ball, and calamari as appetizers. They were all good but if you just get one I definitely recomment the garlic bread wow it was awesome and came with a delicious dipping sauce. I got the colorado rack of lamb for dinner, and we split multiple sides. The lamb was amazing. You get maybe 6 chops, and some mashed potatoes with a delicious sauce, I highly recommend. The truffle mac and cheese was amazing! I don't like creamed spinach so it's no fault on them that it wasn't my fave. We got the hash browns too but I would say skip that because a lot of the entrees come with a small potato side. Some come with just the meet so be warned. We got dessert and I highly recommend the creme brulee. My friend got the cheesecake and loved it! 10 out 0f 10 recommend and will absolutely go back there again for a special occasion or a treat.
I've been going to The Old Homestead for years and years and have to say in the last couple of years have been mildly disappointed. The service is just not what it used to be. We used to feel really taken care of when we went there; the waiters were REALLY friendly and attentive to our needs. This time, the waiter was nice enough but I I had to ask for the salt and pepper and a knife to cut the chocolate cake in half (we'd already asked for two plates) and we had to return a carving knife as it was very dirty. The knife was replaced, but with no apology, as if it were normal to spend a couple of hundred dollars and get dirty silverware. Before the cake, I had to ask the waiter to please clear the table (my friend is mentally ill and his place was fairly dirty.) The waiter simply cleaned up some of the debris and then put a placemat over the rest.
For me, one of the experiences of going to the Old Homestead, was that you could be assured that the waiter would really want to take care of you and be friendly at the same time; I'm sorry that I didn't feel that way this time.
Amazing food at this historic and wonderful restaurant!
The atmosphere is classic. The food was delicious. The service was impeccable. We will be going back often!
Steak was cooked excellent, but meat, steak, was one of the worst we ate. Waiters were friendly and polite. Deserts were great. But we went for steak???!!!
A outstanding classic experience Meat packing NYC.
Onion soup was amazing just a little loud inside.
Been many times and was one of first places I wanted to go after reopen. Sadly disappointed. Not ready to reopen. Crowded, no barriers between tables, had to reorder our drinks more than twice, slow service, steak inconsistent among the group. Too many great places I want to support in reopen. OH won’t be one of them going forward.
Steaks were good everything else was average.
The oysters weren’t good, so the waiter took them away but left them on the bill. Everything was very rushed. They brought the food out before even taking our wine order. Once we were done with dinner, we still had wine left and the waiter kept saying “have a night evening” as to rush us out. It’s been awhile since we’ve been out to dinner because of the pandemic and they really didn’t make this a special birthday dinner. Not impressed - won’t be back.
Amazing Henry and team bartender Horacio did a fantastic job - one of my go to spots for steak ! I wrote an awesome detailed review on Yelp check it out !
