Thanksgiving rush. Waited forever to find they gave my table away to wrong people. Service was very slow; others who arrived after us go served first.

Great porterhouse steak. Better than Lugers and all the spinoffs.

I know it is common, but I have no use for a restaurant that won't seat me until my dining partner has arrived. I'm about to drop $200 and I'd like a seat, a drink and a bit of bread.

Pile on injury to insult (in this case) as I am then forced to wait 10 minutes for a supposed bartender to figure out how to make a Rusty Nail.

No need to go back.

Service is always top notch here. Food tasted fantastic. We both had filet. Only negative would be that medium rare, was actually prepared as very rare. One of my favorites.

I've been going to the Old Homestead for almost 50 years. The best prime rib I've had anywhere in the world. Service is always first rate.

Ok food. Overpriced for the quality. Service was so-so. Crusty waiter, who was not overly friendly.

Plenty of other steak houses is NYC, I suggest trying somewhere else.

Finally got a chance to try Old Homestead, and it was an overall great experience. We liked the service and the ambiance even though it was a loud Saturday night crowd. My only issue was the bone-in rib eye we ordered was just ok, not outstanding like I've had at Gibson's in Chicago or Donovan's in San Diego. But we did enjoy it, and would go back again.

Very good but very expensive at the moment for UK visitors with the poor exchange rate. Recommended tip 18 dollars upwards. With tax makes dining very expensive.

The steak was average, had no seasoning, was tasteless and was warm and not hot. It must have been sitting quite a while. The creamed spinach was average and tasted like flour. The bread was iced cold. I had to ask for more water-really? when I’m paying over $75.00 per person. I tried this restaurant about 30 years ago and was wondering why I never went back. This is not on the same level as Peter Lugers or Wolfgang’s.

My son and I are steak lovers. We had the Porterhouse for two, medium rare. It was gristly and just didn't taste fabulous. My comps are Strip House and Peter Luger, but I can cook a Whole Foods steak myself that tastes way better than Homestead's. My son later heard that we should have picked the ribeye instead, as that's their specialty.

I guess I would go again just for the onion rings because hardly any restaurants in Manhattan offer them any more, and Homestead's are quite good.

Service was friendly and efficient.

First time at this establishment. I'd heard different opinions and wanted to try it for myself.
Somewhat busty for a Sunday evening. We arrived early for our reservation and were seated quickly {1 for your side}. The restaurant was very noisy {1 against you}. Service was very slow {1 against you}. Drinks were good {1 for your side}. When we finally ordered, it took longer than I expected for the food to be served. {1 against you}. The meal was delicious {1 for your side}.
Service got better as the restaurant emptied. With all the competition for business in NYC, I don't know what it would take to get me to come back.

We came for dinner for 6 and had a terrific dining experience. First the food was excellent, my Dad had the prime rib, I had the filet on the bone, my 14 yr old son had the Filet 10oz, and my 9 yr old daughter had the lobster Mac and cheese. The ambiance was perfect as we didn’t want a place too formal and stuffy. But the pleasant surprise was the service - our server from Romania was excellent. She reminded my daughter of Wonder Woman from the movie, but she was very friendly and fast. We loved the whole experience.

We had a great time. Food was just amazing, even though I do not eat meat, my Girlfriend LOVED her Gotham steak. Cooked to perfection. She said the first bite exploded in her mouth. I had the Branzino that was just delicious as well.
As for the creamed Spinach, best I ever had anywhere..
Service was Spot on. Thank you for a lovely dinning experience.

This is subjective but I preferred the service & ambiance at the Atlantic city location. New York city location is much smaller, intimate, energetic (sometimes noisy depending on who you are seated near) ambiance. Atlantic city location is spacious and more elegant. At the Atlantic city location you can get whole lobsters which are amazing. At the NYC location you can get a lobster tail for about $35, which has a nice crust and is tender/sweet. In the NYC location they don't offer you bread, they just ask you if you'd like garlic bread and charge you for it. Dinner for two about $280 without alcoholic drinks. If you don't care about price, then go for it. The main waiter tending to us was not very attentive or enthusiastic (he was not very engaged), but other support waiters were excellent. Stand above service at both NYC/AC locations generally. Probably won't go back to the NYC location, unless for a lunch/something more modest.

This restaurant has seen better days, very pricey and the food was meh...looks to have a neighborhood following that probably doesn’t realize how marginal the food is or has become. Would not recommend, food did not live up to the high prices
