Old Dave's Gourmet Burger Co.
Despite being able to book a table for this restaurant, when we arrived it was closed.
I booked a table through open table but arrived at the restuarant to find it was closed. Im not sure if its a permanent closure but was a shame!
Overall we really enjoyed the evening. The service was friendly and our meal didn’t take too long to arrive. Everyone loved their burgers but the chips were lukewarm which was disappointing. Also when we had finished our meal & wanted to order more drinks & see the dessert menu, getting someone to take our order took quite a while & we literally had to grab a passing waiter! That said, we would definitely eat there again.
The best and dirtiest burger and fries EVER!!!!!! This was my first visit and def won’t be my last....
As always wonderful food ...they had run out of halloumi and portabella mushrooms but kindly let us have an alternative of our choice free of charge....it was our daughter's birthday and was given a free mocktail which she loved ....food,service and staff always excellent x
we were given a table right in front of the bar and spent most of our meal with a bunch of strangers butts (not nice butts) in our face while we were eating and trying to have an intimate chat. When we moved ourselves to a quieter table (that didn’t get used the whole time we were there) we were asked to move back. Can’t fault the food though, nice place for a group of mates to catch up and get a bit merry, but I wouldn’t recommend it for a date night.
Have been to this burger place before. Food is lovely but I feel now slightly overpriced. Beers came quickly, but then we waited 50 minutes for our food. Unsure why, as restaurant was not full, maybe due to staff change over time and short staffed?
Amazing burger, had the Tennessee. My only negative was that as I only ordered a burger it came in a small bowl, when eating the burger lots of juices ran out. So when I put my burger down it got a very soggy bun and I had to use cutlery to eat it! The burger was amazing but I would have liked to enjoy it without a soggy bun!
This is my 2nd visit here, food is amazing! Nice freshly cooked burgers all hand prepared! All produce and meat comes from local farms etc. All staff are really friendly and helpful!
I would highly recommend that you pay this place a visit, you will not be disappointed!
Brilliant place to eat, great food and nice atmosphere. Will be visiting again.
Lovely food in a very pleasant environment. The staff were really friendly too.
Great food....friendly staff.....would recommend !!
After a 40 minute wait. My meal came out wrong and so was returned whilst my boyfriend kept his. After another short wait my meal was brought out and had been corrected but the fries were only partially cooked. The burger was very tasty and my boyfriend really enjoyed his. Mgt were very apologetic and made amends by reducing the bill, so will give it a second chance.
As usual a great meal, fantastic burgers / side dishes and excellent friendly service.
Had sister and brother-in-law down from London for a night out/catch up. Always talk about Old Daves so thought would show it to them. Went down brilliantly
Amazing food, amazing service. I cannot fault the place.
Great food great service nothing was too much ttoublr
Brilliant service, friendly team which catered for my young sons special requests. Lovely food and value for money!
Amazing food, place and great staff. Would definitely say the best burger restaurant around!
2nd visit for daughters 18th celebration . Great food again👍😁
A little off the beaten track this burger joint is well worth a visit. The nachos were particularly tasty!
Kids ate for a £1, really good quality kids meals, especially the chicken. The staff were great, very friendly, food was superb!
Always superb food and service. My six year old daughter loves this place...and so do we ...always big portions and excellent quality
Love it - always book when holidaying in Eastbourne - make sure we get there for happy hours for cocktails!! My teenager son loves the restaurant too.
Despite reduced staff numbers, service was great and the food as ever was delicious. My visitor was extremely happy and vowed to return with her friends and family.
Locally sourced delicious home cooked food. Cosy and comfortable especially the bench seats. Menu is based on an original different twist on the traditionsl burger. The handcut chips (with or without crispy bacon), freshly made coleslaw and the house salad inc sundried tomatoes are not to be missed. Care has been taken to include every dietry requirement including vegan and vegetarian. Recommend the beetroot pattie, "pickle" sorbet (try it first!), the cheese cake and the Heffer double burger with cheese and onion marmalade. Plus a scrummy Maitai cocktail (amongst others). Staff are friendly and the music is cool but not overwhelming, free wifi (but why not talk to each other instead!).
Was fairly busy so service was quite slow but that’s fine.
Disappointed most craft beers were not available.
I had the brisket fries. Not great, way too much soy so VERY salty. Fries were very small mainly and were more like scraps of crunchy potato.
Burger was good, not great, I’ve had better , but overall it was an enjoyable meal. Would I go again? Prob not to be honest.
Food was amazing! Me & my partner really enjoyed our burgers & sides. Definitely recommend the Mac & cheese! All staff were friendly and food arrived very quickly which was nice! This was our first visit to the restaurant and we will be back another time as we loved it. Only downside was the noise level but that is to be expected in a smaller venue. There was a large group of girls dining on our visit who were quite loud but it didn’t ruin the experience.
This was agreat meal. Super service , great choice and all well worth it. Thanks very much.
Great service! We were served a complimentary cocktail as it was our anniversary. Tasty food that was quick to come out the kitchen, and good prices
Food was amazing - great value for money! Staff very professional and attentive. Restaurant was fully booked for the duration of our meal which is always a good sign! Nice casual relaxed atmosphere - we’ll definitely be back again!
Great burgers and friendly staff. Remember to book a table.
Favourite restaurant in Eastbourne! Good size portions with a reasonable price. Never ever had a bad meal!
Really nice place. Food is amazing. You need to book as people were being turned away. Will 100% go back there. Very friendly staff. Great time.
Starters were good ,main came out half way through the starter.
Burgers were dry even the chicken.
Seemed as though the staff wanted us out asap.
So they could go home
Food was great, but felt that service could have been so much better. We had to wait 20 minutes just to order a drink, and the staff didn’t so much as smile when serving us. Although it was clear that the 3 staff working out front were under pressure and very busy, an extra pair of hands would have ensured that customers would have been better looked after. With competition in this industry being as fierce as it is, I felt it was a real shame that more effort wasn’t made to ensure our meal experience was a priority. Unfortunately I won’t be returning in a hurry.
Sadly the experience began badly & then continued downhill... The couple on the table next to us opened their ketchup which must have been off as was extremely pressurised & squirted everywhere including over my wife’s top/trousers. Anyway, we asked for some nachos to nibble to begin with, but requested no blue cheese sauce, but instead maybe some normal cheese. The waitress accepted this however shortly after a guy came out and informed us that they don’t have any other cheese. Strange for a burger joint where the majority of menu options have a variety of different cheeses...? We asked for some chilli on the nachos instead which I must say was very tasty.
So we ordered the ‘heffer’ and a Tennessee bbq burger, and some bbq fries to share and also a side of slaw. Sadly the fries were soggy and the bbq didn’t taste anything like bbq, so very few were eaten. the slaw was overpowered by honey mustard mayo and lacked any other flavour whatsoever and again was hardly touched. Now the burgers... the Tennessee bbq was OK at best, beef patty was dry, however the base of the bun was fully soggy with grease from the excessive Amount of cheese in it... Yes cheese... but apparently they don’t do any other cheese 🤔. I ate it because I was hungry but that was it. My wife had the heffer - again both of the beef patties were dry and again bottom bun dripping in grease from the mass of cheese.... she on the other hand took 2/3 bites and that was it - she pushed it aside. We expressed our disappointment and were offered 25% off our bill which I thought was a joke as more than 50% of the food served to us was still sat on the table as was inedible... A real shame as I had high hopes...
We had a lovely evening catchup with family and the food was great along with excellent service
Great burgers, price and service. Definately worth it. Quality has never dropped, been going for the last 3 years.
Best burgers ever! All ingredients are locally sourced and delicious
